Well, if this is the case, then it must mean that Sony is selling the PS3 Slim at a profit, and they aren't loosing $100 per console like that Japanese analyst was saying.... to be honest, I think the analyst got the PS3 Slim mixed up with the fat PS3 or something.
"Redesigned PS2 Slim released 4 years, 8 months after original PS2 SKUs; PS3 slim to be released 2 years, 10 months after original PS3 SKUs. Sony had to do something to bolster slumping sales. They know it, we know it, everyone knows it."
Seriously, does it REALLY matter how soon Sony introduced the PS3 Slim? I really don't think so because the last time the PS3 got a price cut was November 2007.
Also, most people don't seem to have the intellect to realize...
Quarter 4 COULD fall into Early 2010, but since the Q1 2010 lineup is already packed with big 3rd party games, in addition to Sony's own: God of War 3, MAG, and Heavy Rain, I just don't see Sony releasing GT5 in Early 2010 amongst those other games, so Late 2009 sounds VERY probable. I can't wait until TGS!
And MariusElijah, Final Fantasy XIII will probably most definitely sell more in Japan than GT5 in Japan.... Europe is where Gran Turismo always sells the most.
Wakka_,
That link you posted about 360 sales was from OCTOBER 2008, did you even look at the date the article was written?. LMFAO!!! Try Harder man, try harder.
Last time this year, it was the 360's time to shine, this time it's the PS3's turn.
You just owned yourself, ya?
"Or maybe because PS3 fans are sick of waiting for GT5 :D
One can only wait so long before "Jumping In" ^^ "
With Gran Turismo 5 being playable at GamesCom, Gran Turismo 5 isn't that far off now, and the wait is almost over.
Polyphony Digital are perfectionists, and the wait for ALL of their games have always been worth it, and the 50+ MILLION people that have bought Gran Turismo games would probably agree :)
These screenshots look like they were taken off-screen from the show floor at GamesCom, but it still looks really good. The only thing I want now is a release date... about a month until Tokyo Game Show starts, and I hope Sony finally puts a date on it then.
It will sell well, but I think it'll be far from one of the best selling games of all time, because there's some pretty stiff competition from plenty of other games:
GTA San Andreas: 21+ Million
Super Mario World: 20+ Million
Super Mario Bros: 40 Million
And I just don't see Modern Warefare 2 selling more than any of the games above. Sometimes I wish these FPS games didn't sell so much, because maybe then it would encourage developers to do something else...
"Namco Bandai has effectively robbed Sony of two of its better developers"
LOL, are they serious?! One of Sony's 2 better developers? They make it seem like these 2 companies have been developing for Sony exclusively for as long as Sucker Punch or Insomniac, but that's definantly not the case, and it's NOT a blow to Sony. Ninja Theory's first and ONLY game on a PS console was Heavenly Sword, and they were never 2nd party to begin with.
Since Sony Santa Moni...
To an extent, I have to agree...with Life Bars I was a lot more careful about my actions in the game... I guess that's why so many people say that this generation of games is so much easier than so many Retro games, and rechargeable health is definitely one reason.
I have to admit, I DO like the rechargeable health system, but since it takes away some of the challenge, I'd love it if more Devs. did this:
Instead of ALL your life recharging, maybe about 80 or 90% of ...
It's not on the list, but I really love how Metal Gear Solid 4's Game Over screen shows flashbacks of what Snake recently encountered, it's probably my favorite... but I have to agree, MGS1's Game Over screen is just classic.... Snake? SNAKE?! SNAAAAAAKE!
If the Elite was $249, then maybe it would be tough competition, but at the same price as the Slim? I don't really think so....
The thing about the 360 is that it's been cheap for so long, and it barely (just 0.1 million) sold more than the PS3 for the first half of 2009 despite the PS3's cheapest system being double the price.... considering that, I just don't see the Elite 360 being tough competition for the PS3 Slim at the same price.
Last Holiday was the 360's ti...
I'm having a hard time believing this... the current 80GB PS3 that's being clearanced out at $299 cost Sony a little over $400 dollars to produce, and Sony is probably taking a $100 dollar hit for everyone of those that are sold, but the PS3 Slim? I don't know about that...
Just looking at the PS3 Slim and the removable various things like the Touch sensitive Eject/Reset buttons, Ability to install another OS, etc.., it doesn't really look like it would cost Sony no more than $30...
I'm definitely not getting worked up about this. Over half the stuff listed is just a joke, and this article in addition to their "Top 25 Reasons to Ditch Nintendo" is only meant to rile up fans of a particular console, but I'm not falling for it.
GameDaily must think it's funny to see how fans of a console/company react to these articles, but it's not really that funny... and with that said, I'm looking forward to seeing their "Top 25 Reasons to Ditch Microsoft&qu...
Yep, I gotta agree with Pirate... Gran Turismo is the game that really got me into cars as well.... I'm not really a "Gear-Head", but I just love high performance cars in general. Out of all the Racing Sims on consoles, I really do think that GT is one of the only one's that's for real Car Enthusiasts.
It's taken a long time for GT5, but it's going to come PACKED with tons of content, and it'll probably be the only Racing Sim. you'll need this gen. if you have a PS3 bec...
I think that Sony is intentionally not talking a lot about GT5 so that they can possibly surprise people with a December release date at the Tokyo Game Show.
Sony made some good announcements at GamesCom, and they've got to save something for TGS, and GT5 is probably one of their big playing cards during that event.
I don't think Sony is "downplaying" GT5 because they know how big of a game GT will be, and it's possible that Yamauchi himself wants to unvei...
I think that Zipper will deliver a great experience with MAG, but I'm not really into Multiplayer Only games and I'm taking a break from the FPS genre for a while.... probably won't buy another FPS game until Bioshock 2, then after that Resistance 3, then RAGE and lastly Killzone 3. However, both God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 are first day purchases for me.
There was PS3 Shortages in Japan, and that has been reported numerous times:
http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blo...
http://kotaku.com/5337043/i...
Japanese retailers obviously stopped getting shipments of the Regular PS3's because the Slim's were coming.....
I wasn't a huge fan of GTA4, and I'm not sure if I'd buy the DLC if it came to the PS3...... enough with GTA4 DLC, bring on PS3 exclusive AGENT, and the next GTA!
Sometimes I just don't understand why Microsoft wastes so much money on 3rd party games/DLC that will eventually come to the PS3... instead of paying for Timed Exclusivity, Microsoft should fund some new Exclusive IP's or something....
The 360/PC "Exclusive" Fallout 3 DLC is coming to the PS3, so ...
Damn! I already have both God of War 1 and God of War 2, but if this is true and there is slight graphical enhancements to both games, I might have to buy this just to get my hands on the God of War 3 Demo.... but then again, even if there isn't any enhancements, I MIGHT still get it because I can't wait to get my hands on God of War 3.
"Wait until GT5 and FF13... "
Ha ha ha! Yeah, that's right, wait until FFXIII and GT5 and watch the Xbox 360's 8 million lead disappear by a few Million, I can't wait!
