I'm 41, and I'll be gaming as long as I'm physically able to do so.
It doesn't matter how many markets each console is available in. MS has already launched the XB1 in its two strongest markets (North America and the UK), along with Western Europe.
The reality is that globally, Xbox isn't as strong a brand as PlayStation.
I agree, but for me the situation is reversed. Sony and Nintendo are the console brands that have consistently given me the games I've most enjoyed, while MS has never appealed to my gaming tastes. I prefer single-player over multiplayer, and RPGS over shooters.
Gamers are going to buy the consoles that have the games and features they want most. For some, its Sony's consoles, for others, it's MS', for still others, it's Nintendo's, and for some it'...
I want fantastic video games from a games console, so thanks, I will enjoy my PS4.
Enjoy your experiment.
It's the best place to play for me, without doubt. Good job, Sony.
I'm not envious at all. I don't play shooters, and I don't play online.
Exactly. It's not as if these are the only titles coming for PS4 this year. The smaller indie games add to the diversity of the line-up. Not every title is a AAA big-budget blockbuster. I'd rather a steady flow of smaller games between big tentpole releases I'm interested in than having to enduring gaming droughts where I have nothing to play for months because I don't play sports or FPS games.
Agreed. I could kick myself for not getting Plus earlier.
I thought the same thing. From the trailer, the game promises great atmosphere, but I don't see anything graphically that couldn't be done on PS3/360.
It still looks great, but it doesn't have that 'wow' factor.
We know it's a big-budget title being developed by a studio with a known track record for producing strong titles. Ergo, it's a high-caliber title.
It's just my opinion.
Fantastic. I don't play online multiplayer games, so this is exactly what I wanted to hear. It's great to see a single player only game of this caliber.
Can't wait!

As I stated above, if you own a 360 and have an issue with the situation, you certainly have a right to complain. You're a customer. But it's not as if this situation is surprising. It's part-and-parcel of the Xbox experience. And given the profits XBL generates for the company, MS is under no real pressure to change it.
What's unreasonable are the people who don't own 360s and are complaining about it. They're not affe...
The purpose is pretty clear. MS wants to profit as much as possible from content on its console.
Are the complaints reasonable? That depends on who's complaining. If the people who are complaining about the Live Gold requirement are 360 owners, then their complaints make sense and MS should recognize the dissatisfaction from their customers.
But if the complainers are people who don't own 360s, and are simply using this situation to point out the fea...
I understand where you're coming from, but I think it's a non-issue. Live Gold is required for 360 if someone wants to play games online. This isn't new. It's been part of the Xbox ecosystem for years now.
So, if someone wants to play this game - which is online - on their 360, and they don't already subscribe to Live Gold, then they have two options: subscribe to Gold, or don't play the game. That's a decision the gamer will have to make.
It's free-to-play in the sense that it doesn't have a monthly subscription fee. Yes, Live Gold is required to play the game, but that's the backbone of MS' online services.
Bitching about the XBL Gold requirement is the same as bitching that you need to pay for Internet access to play the game. It's a non-issue. The game is an online game. If you want to play it on 360, you need to subscribe to the 360's online service.
So glad it's also coming for PS4. I'll definitely pick it up.
It's great to read a blog by someone who's made the best console choice for themselves based on their own preferences and needs. In the end, that's all that matters.
May you enjoy your XB1 for years to come. :)
Devs should focus on telling the most engaging stories they can, and choose the gender for the characters based on what makes the most sense for the stories they're telling. Character creation should never be a 'paint by numbers' affair, where traits are decided based on other factors.
In other words, if it makes sense for the character to be male, it should be male, and vice-versa.
If a game's story and atmosphere is engaging enough, the last...
Can't wait for this game to be released.
