E3 should be quite interesting.
It's interesting how people have different opinions of characters. To me, Kratos is exactly the type of protagonist for a story like God of War's. We're dealing with Greek epics and mythology here, hardly the stuff for subtle multi-faceted characterization. Would that type of surface-level characterization work for more modern stories? Not at all. Our modern tales tend to be populated with somewhat more well-rounded and complex characters. Not Kratos.
It's a common thing for the gaming community to do to 'big' titles, hype them up when they're being developed and then tear them to shreds once they release. Some people want games to fail if those games are not to their tastes or are not on their preferred consoles. Some people may not like a particular developer's work, or they may prefer multiplayer online games to single-player games, and thus cheer when single-player games perform poorly. Who knows? It's quite likely that the software spike for XB1 has to do with people who received the console for Christmas purchasing older titles for it.
It's the same here in Canada as well. Bottlenecks on download speeds, monthly usage caps, we have a way to go before digital-only gaming can ever truly take off.
I can't wait to play this game for myself. The setting and atmosphere really appeal to me, and it'll be nice to finally learn more about the characters and the storyline. Gameplay mechanics are important, of course, but I prefer a game tell an engaging story with strong characterizations over how a game plays. I bought this game for the original PlayStation back in the day, and it's still a blast to play now. I had no idea it was released for GB Color.
It's an excellent result, and one that should be celebrated, but until the XB1 can string together a few months of back-to-back higher sales in NA and the UK - the markets where it's relevant - we can't really say it means anything in terms of the console going forward.
Getting my copy within the next few days. I can't wait.
If you're a shooter/sports gamer is this the bundle for you? No, clearly. But It's a great bundle for families with young kids, or fans of LBP/Lego licensed games that haven't picked up a PS4 yet.

I'm in the same age group, and I agree with you 100%. These games are pure fun. I really enjoyed the Lego Marvel game, and I'm looking forward to picking this one up, too. :)
I passed on XB1 because MS doesn't have the exclusives I want to play. It's really that simple. You could write out a list of games 100 entries long, but if none of those games appeal to my preferences, it will make no difference to me. I don't have the free time to play everything, and some genres - like FPS games - I don't enjoy at all.

Sony fans get the games they want and - as of right now - they're getting the sales, too.

Did MS show anything to make me want to rush out and buy an XBox One? No, but it would take an announcement like XBox exclusivity for FFVII-R or Persona 5 to get me to pick one up. That being said, I think their conference gave their fanbase a lot to be happy about.
