That's the great thing about being a gamer now. We have choices, with each console manufacturer offering something different from its competitors. The PS4 is my console of choice, since I prefer single-player games and the stable of exclusives appeals more to my tastes. I also have an almost 20 year history with the PlayStation brand. Others prefer Xbox or Nintendo. Nobody's choices are better than anyone else's. We like what we like.
No matter what types of games...
They shouldn't have to explain their decisions. They're a business. They made the decision they felt was best for them, and I wish them every success. Here's to 'Sunset' being a well-crafted, fun game for XB1 owners to enjoy.
I hope you have fun with it, guys. That's what this hobby's about. :)
I cannot wait for this. Battlefront games are such a blast.
On their own? No. I can't see people spending $400-500 on a box just for some TV shows.
But they do add value to the XB1's offerings. People who are going to buy it for games now have additional content available through the Live Gold subscription, and offering additional content to subscribers is always good.
No worries, the armchair analysts of N4G will be out predicting the inevitable demise of Sony. It happens.
Sony's sold-to-customers numbers for PS4 are certainly impressive. It will be interesting if they note how many they've shipped, so we have a better comparison figure to MS' shipped totals.
My experience was totally different. I bought a PS1 in 1997, a PS2 at launch, a PS3 at launch, and a PS4 at launch. All four machines still work.
You may feel that Sony ripped you off, but please, don't speak for everyone. :)
Feel free to disagree if you want. It's all good.
I can't believe some XBox fans cling to this argument. Yes, MS launched in few territories, but those territories are where the bulk of its market is in, North America and the UK.
Day 1 for me!
I'm in the same boat, but in my case it's the One that hasn't offered me anything that interests me yet. That's why I'm looking forward to E3. I want to see if MS has anything on-tap that will prompt me to purchase the One.
Here's to a fantastic E3.
E3 this year is critical for both companies. IMO, Sony needs to step up and provide content to those who already own PS4 and give those who are still on the fence the reason to choose it over the One.
The worst thing Sony can do at this point is drone on-and-on about Project Morpheus or other technology that doesn't have that strong initial mass-market appeal.
MS needs to make the One as attractive as possible to potential buyers by focusing on near-to-mi...
Exactly. Xbox isn't as strong a brand in terms of global appeal as PlayStation.
Because Sony will have more marketshare with a larger install base, thereby attracting more interest and content to the PS4, which in turn will translate into stronger sales for PS4, leading to an increase in profit for that division.
MS makes more money per console sold, but if it loses marketshare, it's in a weaker position going forward.
Publishers care about their own bottom lines, not those of the console manufacturers. They will focus on the platfor...
That argument is flawed because all regions are not equal in terms of their impact on the market as a whole. The Xbox brand sells best in North America and the U.K. That's why MS launched the One there first. They understand that the One has much less global appeal than the Sony brand. The Tier 2 and Tier 3 countries will not have a massive impact on the sales gap, because the Xbox brand doesn't have a dominant market presence in those regions.
That's why the '...
Congrats to Sucker Punch and Sony.
I've yet to pick up InFamous: SS.
I'm shocked. I thought XB1 would win hardware in March.
Congrats to Sony on their well-deserved success.
For some people, yes. For others? Not a chance.
I agree with you. The exclusive software is the foundation for my console purchase decisions. Since I prefer PS exclusives, that's why I buy PS consoles. It has nothing to do with Xbox being 'worse' than PS. It just doesn't offer me the exclusive games I want to play, so I can't justify buying one.
Even though I'm not an Xbox gamer, I think Phil Spencer is a great choice to lead the division. He seems far more genuine and much less the typical 'corporate mouthpiece.' Congrats to him, and I wish him all the best!
That's my hope, as well. I'd much rather a monthly/annual rate like they have with their Music Unlimited service.
