I see a lot of posts about women loving Kinect, the 'soccer mom' effect, etc. Non-gaming women are much more likely to say, "but you already have a Wii. Why do you need this? Will your Mario games work on it?"
Fans of gaming series often hold such strong views before new iterations are released; it's a lesser degree of fanboyism than people hyping new IP titles up to the heavens prior to release. (Bayonetta, LittleBig Planet, Alan Wake, etc.}
While I agree that people should wait to play a game before making hyperbolic comments about it, I can see why people may have that opinion of GT 5. Perhaps they're basing their comments on the previous iterations they have played, or ...
Agreed.
"The argument is that more people than ever are involved in gaming and that videogames have ceased to be the ‘plaything” for nerdy boys and have not only become ‘adult’ (as those boys have grown up), but have also become sources of fun for girls, women and pensioners."
Funny, I've been gaming since I was a teenager, 20+ years ago, and I'm female.
Generalizations are hilarious. :D
Agreed. The 'Kevin Butler' campaign was one of the best I've seen in a long time.
And then you woke up.
Just as 360 trolls try to ruin every Move article. Same crap, different pile.
Arc the Lad and Alundra? I know what I'll be purchasing from PSN this week. ;)
These types of articles merely incite the console warriors to crawl out from under their rocks, contributing nothing of value.
GT definitely has a good chance to do so, yes. I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Its popularity is multi-regional.
I care. I'm looking forward to PSP2.
I don't get the bitching, either. People like what they like; there's no reason to insult people with different preferences.
I'm not sure how much 'staying power' either Kinect or Move have. Nintendo could bank on quality first-party titles with recognizable characters to push the Wii from beyond a fad. Neither MS, nor Sony, have that same luxury. Both could be short term successes, and long term failures.
Have a bubble.
It will be interesting to see what happens once people actually get the technology into their homes and try it out. If it works as people expect, Kinect will be a blockbuster. If it doesn't, there could be long lines at the return counter.
I'm hoping it works out, even though I can't use it. If it's successful, perhaps MS will be able to make a more accessible controller for those of us who are physically disabled.
Why do XBox guys run around focusing solely on sales? Why doesn't quality matter more to them?
Aren't we, as gamers, supposed to be playing games? If a piece of hardware is a commercial failure, the people who purchased it can still enjoy it, regardless. I know people who still enjoy their HD-DVD collection, for example.
Sales matter, yes, but they shouldn't be as important to some gamers as they have now become. That's the saddest most pathet...
In the US, I think that's possible but that depends on what Nintendo has up its sleeve for the holiday season. Worldwide, given the huge GT fanbase in Europe, I think it's likely that the PS3 may have a solid holiday season there.
No, what's weird is the constant drumbeat through some media sources that the PS3 and its titles is a failure worldwide. It's pretty laughable, actually.
I'm lucky enough to have both LoM and Azure Dreams in my collection. They'd be great additions to PSN. Azure is a ridiculous amount of fun.
I've been wanting to play that since the PS1 days. I'd love the chance to get it from PSN.
I agree that Square-Enix isn't the company it used to be, back in the 90's, but why the hostile tone in your post? You can't make your point without insulting someone else? What a shame.
FF X was the last 'good' game for you, perhaps. Don't post like you speak for all gamers. I, for one, really enjoyed FF XII - and before you ask, I've played all the 'offline' FF home console releases. It's just a matter of preference. Since "Tacti...
My favourites in the main series are: IV, X, VII, and XII, in no particular order. Then again, Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favourite games of all time, so the chance to play an Ivalice-based story again made XII a great game to me.
I haven't finished XIII, but while the corridor-based gameplay can be a bit tedious, I think the story, battle system, and level progression are perfectly fine. I don't understand the rabid hatred against it. In the end, it's jus...
Overrun? Way to exaggerate. Though I suppose logic has no place in the mindset of an irrational fantard.
