Wondering where the time went

It would be great if devs focused on developing great games, instead of spending time and resources making games they assume I'm going to love, just because I'm female.

My favourite console genres are RPG/SRPG, action/adventure, and RTS. And I enjoy casual gaming, too. I don't play FPS's because of motion sickness, not because I have any problems with violent games. I really enjoy action flicks and horror movies, while 'chick flicks' tend to make me la...

It`s a shame that players who bought the original game have to rebuy if they want the added content. I wonder how many actually will?

I hope his petition succeeds. I`ve never used button remapping, but my disabilities are different than his. If it makes gaming more accessible, I`m all for it.

His sense of humour really comes through in the interview. He`s got a great attitude.

I'm looking forward to this. Zen Pinball is one of my favourite PSN titles.

It's just insecurity, immaturity, or trolling. Just like the XBox fanboys who hate on Sony and the Playstation brand.

Nothing to get worked up about.

That's where I see Kinect having a real problem. If it requires too much farting around to set up and use, it's going to turn off a segment of consumers.

Even if I could physically use it, my living room is too small. And I don't have the cash to buy a new Kinect-friendly wardrobe.

You're assuming that people buying the unit are somehow going to research it and know everything about it. Most casual gaming consumers don't do that kind of research before they buy gaming products. They see it on TV, and they decide to buy it.

I'm looking at it from the viewpoint of a non-gaming parent who's going to buy it because her child wants it for Christmas, and she wants to make her child happy. That parent is going to be livid if, on Christmas morni...

This is a game that makes me wish I owned a 360. It's really looking great.

With clothing and space requirements like these, plus the need for a separate power pack for older 360 models, there could be a lot of frustrated kids and angry parents on Christmas morning. MS should put this info out to customers, so they know what they'll need to do to use the Kinect properly before they buy it. Maybe put the info on the box?

If not, and it doesn't work the way families expect, there could be a lot of returns.

Standard controllers, ftw.

Yes, abi. It's so advanced that you won't be able to use it sitting down unless devs specifically program for that. And so advanced that it needs an clutter-free environment with lots of space in order to operate optimally.

Why can't we all just accept that it's a camera - nothing more - and move on?

The particularly rabid fanboys are paid to spout their bile, or they've been completely taken in by an almost cult-like devotion to one company over all the others.

I'd rather learn that they were paid shills. That I could understand.

No doubt it's from the same place as the irrational hatred some people have for Sony or Nintendo, sadly.

Back when I first started gaming, I had an Atari 2600 and my friends had Colecovision and Intellivision. Games mattered to us, not the companies who made the consoles. We didn't even know who they were. When the NES came out, the games were still the focus. We'd gather around for a game of Duck Hunt, or Mario Bros. and didn't care what Nintendo's stock price was, or how many units it sold, etc.

Those were good times - when winning the game meant more than winn...

Just curious. Some people keep yammering on about its "future potential," but anyone who truly believes it's a revolutionary device are setting themselves up for massive disappointment.

It's a camera with mo-cap software. Nothing more. It's limited by the processing power of the 360. The camera has its own limitations, as does the software devs can create for it. The fact that Microsoft views it as an inroad into the casual market, and are focusing so mu...

Move has plenty of third-party support. Silitcx posted an informative list.

Why can't both Move and Kinect co-exist? For people like me, for whom the Kinect is impossible to use, Move is the only option for hi-def motion gaming. At least until Nintendo releases a hi-def Wii type console, if it ever does.

Kinect's success is far from assured, as is Move's at this point. Unless consumers adopt them in sufficient numbers, and buy the software to go a...

Why so bitter that you have to bring other titles into it? Gears 3 will stand or fall on its own merits, not what other games do or don't do.

Try some relaxation techniques.

Warner Brothers was the 'final nail' in HD-DVDs coffin. It opted to go Blu-Ray exclusive in 2008, right before Toshiba's press conference at CES. Before that, it sold disks in both hi-def formats, but used the Holiday Season of 2007 as the deciding factor in its decision.

Consumer demand clearly favoured Blu-Ray over that period, though hi-def physical media was still in its infancy then, and sales numbers were small compared to DVD.

Early adopter...

Considering how so many male reviewers focused a lot of attention on Bayonetta's physique and sensuality, rather than on story, gameplay mechanics, and level design, that reaction is hardly limited to some females.

A new Professor Layton title sounds great, but I'm going to wait a while before picking up a 3DS.
