How are you so sure people will love it? Or that everyone who tries it will think it's fun? Try thinking realistically, instead of pulling generalizations out of thin air.
Will Kinect sell a lot? I think it will. Is every single person who plays it going to think it's a blast? No. Is there a possibility some units may be returned? If people have problems setting up the unit to work properly, or it doesn't work as they think it should, then yes.

As a Canadian, all I have to say is, "Hahahaha! No."
Besides, I thought non-gaming applications were a major strike against the PS3, according to certain fanboy camps. So now that another console has a similar type of option, non-gaming apps are finally important?
3 Cheers for Hypocrisy!
A console's placement has no impact on its ability to provide its users with hours of enjoyable multimedia experiences - particularly given that all 3 consoles have sold enough to solidify support from third parties.
Thanks for the chuckle. :)
On-topic: If this is real, I can't wait to see the Youtube videos.
Two of my favourite final boss fights of all time are Ultimecia from FF VIII, and the Final Boss of Persona 3.
Both these bosses took a long time to defeat and were quite challenging. I definitely felt a sense of accomplishment after taking those two down. :-)
"Suckish" games? Bitter much?
Since you said, "Taking out the PS2 compatibility from your lovely PS3," I'm going to assume you don't own a PS3. That explains the bitterness. You make it sound like Sony forces people to buy the remixes. They don't. It's a choice. And guess what? A lot of PS2s are around, and more are still selling. So there's no reason to upgrade unless you want.
I own a launch model 60 gig (upgraded to ...
@lonix: Nothing better to contribute than insulting people who own a particular console?
@Murmina: I take it, you didn't see the recent reports of the PS3 losing ground to other Blu-Ray players when it comes to movie player purchases? Which means that more people are purchasing the PS3 for gaming, not as a BD player?
It's no different than the Move-a-phobes who love to slag off on Move.
Plenty of idiocy in both camps actually.
It's fun for some people in the real world. Not for those of us who can't use it because we have mobility and balance impairments. ;-D
Universally playable, Kinect is not.
That's the problem with these reviews and previews: they're coloured by the perceptions of the writers. An assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the tech as it exists now, rather than focusing on "future potential" would be much more useful.
I agree with the points the author made. Video games simply do not have the universality of the Fine Arts, at least not yet. They remain a form of entertainment for a sub-culture of people in places that have access to the technology required to play them.
That being said, I think individual elements of a game are art: the character/environment designs, storyline, and soundtrack, as examples. But as a whole, games aren't Art...yet.
The 360 has brighter colours in some shots, but the added sharpness is a bit jarring. The PS3 has a softer colour palette that sometimes has less definition than the 360.
Either way, the game looks great. Can't wait to play it.
Fable doesn't have the international fanbase that GT has, so that won't be happening.
Because women represent an important, largely untapped, part of the market. Thus, have more females involved with game design would lead to have more titles that would appeal to female gamers, which in turn would lead to more consoles and software sold.
Women do game, and not just with titles like Wii Fit or Singstar. ;)
Self-delusion is a terrible thing.
I haven't programmed since the Commodore VIC 20 and 64 days, sadly. My background is in Humanities and writing. I'd really like the chance to work on a game script. :-)
I don't play multiplayer or co-op games, so for me, a great single player game is worth full price. I'd rather spend money on features I enjoy than waste it on features I'll never use.
Neglect? Are you serious? Sony provides its customers with games they want. Same as Microsoft and Nintendo. How, exactly, is that neglectful?
If anyone is silly here, it's you.
Updating the tilt mechanics would be an excellent addition. I have no idea how some people are so good at the game. I really like the challenging aspect of it.
I can't see me buying a specific handheld for online gaming. My laptop does the job.
Move's launch lineup is also weak. That's why I've postponed buying one. I'm waiting until the titles justify the outlay of cash.
Both systems will have their fair share of good titles, eventually. Unless either tanks, of course.
