Wondering where the time went

Meh. TV services mean nothing to me, since I don't live in the U.S.

It's funny watching fanboys bitchfight over it though. Carry on, lads. ;)

The Vita is an amazing device, but Sony really needs to lower the price of the memory cards and the unit itself. I can't remember the last time I saw an ad for Vita. You can have a great library of games and services, but if nobody knows your device exists, or thinks that the device has no games or support, then you can't be surprised it's not selling as well as you'd like.

I'm hoping Sony will announce some Vita-related things at Gamescon. They'd bett...

I think by this point, most people who are going to buy a console at launch have made their decisions already. For me, it's PS4, since Microsoft offers me nothing I want with the XB1. For others, it's XB1. Some people will opt for both.

It's not a question of one being better than the other, as much as a question of which of the two consoles is a better fit for your personal gaming interests.

Yet more proof that social media and one's career don't always mix well.

That's what I'm hoping. Perhaps a DLC addition/expansion if the game is successful. I like the 'quest' system, too, since it makes the game more than just a simulation.

I could definitely see myself playing this when I want to relax and unwind from a stressful day.

This isn't 2006-2007. That argument may have held water back at the PS3's launch, but times have changed. There are many cheaper Blu-Ray players than PS3 on the market these days.

That was an interesting blog. I never pay attention to those kinds of details when I'm playing a game. I guess I focus too much on the main character models, lol.

They may have a chance to polish the game up a bit more, but even if they don't, I don't think many players will be too concerned about those inconsistencies. They don't seem like deal-breakers. Then again, I've enjoyed many a game with these kinds of graphical glitches.

How terrible! Sony is aiming to make the Vita appealing to younger or more casual players! They should be focusing completely on me and my hardcore needz!!!11eleventybillion. /sarcasm.

This looks adorable. Too bad it doesn't have cats.

When it comes to celebrities, that may be true, since people are drawn to those whose names are in the news. But when it comes to products, that's not the case. Bad PR can alter the public's perception of a brand, and that can impact sales.

^^ Wishful thinking at its finest.

On-topic: Sony now has the opportunity to establish an install base in those 'Tier 2' countries, provided it can take advantage of the delay from MS.

Things just keep getting more interesting with this launch cycle. It's almost like a chess match.

Yes, I still need a PS4. If I could buy an XB1 without Kinect for a comparable price, I would pick up X1 eventually. Until that time, it's PS4 for me.

Exactly. These policy changes have nothing to do with fanboys on the Internet. It's just the cold, hard reality of pre-order figures. MS saw that XB1 was tracking far behind PS4 in terms of pre-orders and decided to change policies on the fly in an effort to make the console more attractive at its higher price point.

Those who blame 'complaining fanboys' for MS' flip-flopping are in denial.

@Death - do you really believe the post-E3 outcry was just from Sony fans, and that MS reversed its policies to cater to the 'vocal minority'?

The truth is found in the cold, hard truth of pre-order figures. If the XB1 had caught a wave of public interest after E3 and enjoyed a healthy lead over PS4 in terms of pre-orders at retailers, MS wouldn't have changed a thing. They wouldn't have needed to.

Unfortunately for MS, the PS4 proved to be mu...

Maybe you can scan your face onto a character via Kinect and be a player on a team, using Kinect to control your character's movements. I know it's probably some kind of DLC or pre-order bonus, but it would be great to see MS demonstrate Kinect-based content/control for a major title.

While Kinect isn't for me, I'd rather see MS focus on differentiating itself from the competition right now. They need to justify the higher price point, particularly after the ...

That's why I doubt will see any movement on price, or a Kinectless SKU, until 2014 at the earliest. MS has invested a lot in XB1, from the controller, to Kinect 2.0, to its cloud infrastructure.

I think they'll see how the post-holiday 2013 sales go, and then, if sales are sluggish, they may announce a price drop or new SKU to spur adoption of the console.

Either way, it's going to be interesting to see how PS4 and XB1 perform over the next year o...

In 2014, at the earliest. The Holiday shopping season in the U.S. will have a strong impact on whether we see the X1 sans Kinect.

All I need is for MS to release a Kinect-less SKU, and I'll buy the X1.

JRPGs and a price cut on Memory Cards. My Vita is ready.

If the current gen taught Sony anything, it's that consumers aren't particularly interested in BC. The launch PS3, which had full PS2 backwards compatibility, sold poorly. Sales improved once the BC components were removed.

While BC is a nice feature, its lack isn't a deal-breaker. I have a launch 60GB PS3, and I've put PS2 games in it twice since I bought it in '07. I still have my launch PS2 connected to my TV.

If a gamer has amassed a s...

I would have bought the X1 if it didn't have mandatory Kinect, since I see no point in paying for something I won't use.
