I do agree even if I think the comments are a bit harsh. Also, a community manager is explaining why games are more difficult to make? I'd take the words more seriously if it came from an artist or engineer/programmer. There are actually lots of things that make games easier. I'm currently working at a dev and we're using UE5. It's _not_ a magic bullet but, if anyone cares about what I think:
- Not having to do LODs is a time saver. Even more so is not worry...
The good news with Calisto Protocol is that they are in the certification process with Sony (someone I know works on it). So it's unlikely it'll get delayed. If it does happen it would not be because the game is not ready, it would be for company strategy reasons. Since they got December pretty much all to themselves (I doubt Stalker 2 will meet its December 8th release date but I don't know anyone working on that game, even if it does I doubt it would deter Calisto Protocol).
You pointed out it was a PS3 release game which is true. The remaster for the PS4 looked nowhere near as good as TLOU 2 (and why would it, it was just a remaster of a PS3 game), and this is a PS5 game? I get we haven't seen many current-gen exclusive games so I understand why many people think this is impressive but man, the PS5 is capable of so much more than this.
Really guys? It's a current-gen only game and it doesn't even look like a good PS4 game. I mean I'm happy if you guys are excited for it, I was just really surprised.
@Shane Kim But it does matter what gamers think. There are several counterarguments to the one you're making. Look at Stadia but lets say Microsoft manages to create a console monopoly (very unlikely) they still need to keep gamers happy to keep the industry healthy and their revenue high. Most gamers aren't onboard with streaming.
Do I think it will be an option? Yeah, it is now, but it's going to be a very long time even if it were to happen before we're ...
If you like adventure games, point and click, get this game! It's gorgeous and it's a really nice story. It also has a lot of mini-games/puzzles that are fun.
It is a $20 game so it's not super long but it is quality over quantity.
Depends on what you think is a lot, personally I don't think there's a lot of good games coming out. It's better than last year, but that's a low bar set by the pandemic and we're still feeling the effects of it. But yeah, some really good games are coming out (assuming they turn out as good as they look).
Same, when I first saw it I thought it looked gorgeous and it still does but so many games have come and gone since then that now it just looks good rather than that first impression. I believe it's been 3+ years since we first saw a big chunk of gameplay but I could be wrong.
Still, hope it turns out to be a lot of fun when it does release.
Absolutely agree, seeing real-time ray-traced reflections (which absolutely makes sense in a car game), the level of detail in the environments, the lighting, it all looks stunning. I've always rooted for Gran Turismo but I feel Forza has surpassed GT at the moment (unfortunately). Graphically I think latest GT was held back by the cross-gen, but it had other issue as well. Truly hope we start seeing more and more new-gen exclusives soon. Looks like mid/late 2023 they'll start becomin...
Does this mean that people with high-end rigs who want to play with RT on are now not able to get the RT version of RE2?
From the short teaser I really like the sense of speed which outside of Forspoken we haven't really seen much of in a long time. Obviously too early to tell but as a teaser it's got my attention.
I'm really happy Sony is still pushing VR as it takes a giant like them to move the industry forward. Having said that, while I will enjoy it as I enjoy my PC headsets, I think the technology still has some ways to go before a broader audience will pick it up. Smaller form factor, wireless, FOV that actually covers your vision etc.. is what it will take for a broader audience to accept VR.
Man Max Payne 3 is such an underrated game. Wish it had sold more. Still can't wait to see what Remedy does with it now that they have the license again. Control had awesome gunplay.
It's a bit ironic because if they didn't release the game in the state they did they probably wouldn't have gotten the money they needed to bring it to this level. Doesn't excuse the lies though.
UE5 is a gamechanger, at least for putting together "what-ifs". There's a billion and a half assets out there, 90% that weren't game useable but thanks to nanite now are. No wonder so many devs are switching. Rocksteady didn't say, but I bet that was the reason for the delay behind Suicide Squad.
HOWEVER, making a game is still another beast as I hope most people know. What is a shame, at least to me, is that 95% of the models used are stock models. It...
Apples to oranges... Every famous super hero is bound to make it into the Matrix City demo.
Can't wait for Insomniac's Spider-man 2 though. Hope we get to see some gameplay this June.
A lot of really good points in here and I'm still salty about MS's decision to put out the XSS so my comment is going to focus on that. Extremely curious to see how devs behind true next-gen games like the outfit behind Black Myth: Wukong are going to handle the XSS version. I can see that game falling to below 1080p, like 900p along with some heavy optimizations.
Also, if the XSS didn't exist devs could have pushed essential gameplay features further like true ...
I thought the main campaign was a bit short so would have loved to see an expansion this year but I hope whatever they are working on is a meaty expansion because they crafted a beautiful world. Most of the non-bug related stuff didn't bug me (the inventory menu/system was what bugged me to most, especially from a visual point of view).
I played this on PC when it came out I ran into practically no bugs except for the sentient taxis one being busted but I was lucky eno...
How do we know the size when the release date is October 25th? At this point you can sort of make predictions based on alphas, if they've been conducting those, but most of the optimization and new compression techniques are applied towards the end; that's been my experience on a couple of titles. Even if it ends up at 86GB I think consumers have shown they are ok with it over the past couple of years.
Btw, is there going to be anything worth playing, non-indie titl...
I keep commenting on this game here on N4G because I don't think it gets the attention it deserves. It really is one of the best "old school", point-n-click adventure games of the past few years. It has more varied puzzle types than most of these games. The visual style and storytelling remind me of Gravity Falls. It seems to have taken a lot of inspiration from that show. Not a huge game but the price reflects that.
I'd like to see a Rick & Morty or S...
