Definitely agree with @Chocoburger. If Nintendo didn't have their amazing in-house developers, it would be a different story but that's what keeping them alive. Imagine a world where Nintendo would actually push the hardware specs and what _those_ developers could do with that extra power. Hopefully the Switch 2 will at least be as strong as a PS4, maybe PS4 Pro. Of course I'd want them to have the opportunities that current-gen would offer them but knowing Nintendo, that's no...
From the very first video Epic released of UE5 they talked about TSR (Temporal Super Resolution) that brings up a 1080p image to 4k, it's never been a secret. Tired of the clickbaits. I work with UE5 on a daily basis, and have for a bit over 4 years. It still offers fidelity unmatched by most engines. For artists, not worrying about poly limits for everything except characters is a huge deal (though like with in any engine you have to work a lot with instances).
This site is really skewed against Microsoft and they deserve a lot of it but to say that this is new and is caused by Microsoft is not realizing Bethesda's history. Anyone remember the $15 horse armor that was at the beginning of micro-transactions that pissed everyone off way, way before Microsoft was involved?
Exclusives absolutely make sense. Nintendo, for an example, needs to keep exclusives to sell their consoles. So does Sony to a large extent. Xbox is just falling behind so much on the hardware front that they are trying a somewhat modified approach but they are still going to be producing exclusives if they are going to be producing new Xbox generations.
So far Sony has taken a good approach to PC, but so far the PS5 era hasn't been my favorite Sony era. Hasn't bee...
I was kind of with you, except for the hate in your words, until you said "liberal". What is it with "conservatives" and their anger? :P
Should it really have to be said? Great games are great games, no matter what platform they come out on. Being a loyalist makes no sense. I do give Sony (and Nintendo) a lot of credit for nurturing and growing their first party developers and putting out the great games they do. Sony seemed to loose their way for a few ...
So the previous article posted here on N4G (233 days ago) mentions this, why is this such a ripoff of F.I.S.T.? That game was good btw.
DEI? Jesus Christ, this site.
Steam itself needs to die. Not going to happen but the fact that they take 30% of developers cut when they have so much less overhead than consoles (who also charge 30%) is ridiculous. Epic Games Store charges 12%, way more reasonable.
There are so many of those games as well. Escape from Tarkov, Insurgency, Six Days in Fallujah, Squad and others. It's not like the industry lacks the type of games you are referring to. I play the COD games with my friends and it would be fun if there was another game that felt as polished, and crucially for me and my friends, a hardcore mode so it doesn't feel bullet spongey but still has the speed that the other titles I mentioned don't have. Don't have the patience for tho...
Did you play the Astro VR game? Great game, just a shame it's only on PSVR1.
Astro's Playroom is surprisingly fun and a cute PS5 launch title. IMO it uses the dual sense really well, definitely among the best examples of the DS's features. Quick Edit: Didn't see the other responses below regarding Astro's Playroom.
They aren't quite a "AAA" developer but they are a solid "AA" developer. Robocop looks a bit above average, gunplay is pretty fun and I overall enjoy it. If Terminator Survivors is as good or a bit better, I'll play it at some point. Gameranx did a good "Before You Buy" video on Robocop that's worth watching.
Troll post?
On topic, this could be good but no way to know until it's out. Glad that it's Quest 3 exclusive so it doesn't have to run on the Quest 2. If it turns out to be good, I look forward to a eventual PCVR or PSVR 2 port.
I really enjoyed Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice and I'm sure I'll enjoy Hellblade 2 too. They're right that there is room for different kinds of games and experiences. This game looks incredibly polished and when it comes out it will be the game to beat when it comes to their achievement in graphics from a technological standpoint. If the scope of the game had been like an open world title, it would have taken 2-3x the team size and development time.
It will a...
This is _not_ me endorsing or justifying these prices, just giving context that I thought might be interesting to some since I work in the industry (not meant as a brag).
Whatever your opinions are about the people who buy these items, I can definitely confirm that people do buy them. This isn't even a record high-cost for digital assets, I know of one other game that has sold assets for even higher sums. Don't know who these "whales" are, but if they are ...
Because speaking out about your current boss is almost career suicide. I don't blame these people for venting, now that they can.
I am an artist in the games industry and this affects me personally. Having said that, I don't really see the point in fighting the future. Yeah, it's sad that people are going to loose their jobs. Like others have mentioned, this is not a new thing though. Just look at the past century and you'll find that so many occupations have been replaced by innovation. I also realize that my work is a tiny, tiny part of all of these AI models since it's trained on artists' material...
I think I got about two thirds of the way into the game, maybe a little bit more. Only reason I was playing it was there was no other game released at the time I was interested in so I gave it a go. The start is so bad, story-telling and gameplay-wise. Everyone knows the dialogue is horrible, I think it's mostly the writing and repetition rather than the execution. It did become a bit more fun about one third way into the game but I wouldn't recommend it even after the updates and in ...
I really can't wait until we have headsets with wider field of view. I enjoy VR, I've owned a Rift, Quest 2, Valve Index and now a PSVR2. Village is great on the PSVR2 but I always have this sense that there are blinders on my eyes like the police use on horses. Pimax is unfortunately the only company offering a very wide field of view and I say unfortunately because they are a pain to set up and deal with overall.
It's been so many years since VR first was rele...
14 million copies excluding game pass downloaders? Game was bound to be pretty successful given dev's reputation & MS's marketing. Still impressive considering it's at best an above average game that launched at 30fps. I played it on PC, so didn't have to deal with that. I liked it but this was not what I expected from the developers of Skyrim and Fallout.
Btw, is Far Harbor size a good size? Not sure if that comparison means good or bad for the DLC siz...
