Sound like their ‘plan’ was for huge amount of income from mtx and battlepass otherwise go bust. A terrible business decision.
Surely when planning you want to start small, cultivate your success and grow. If you end up with a smash hit then you can replan. Banking on a hit is madness.
If the image for this article were a meta headset the comments would be more negative but it’s a Sony headset in the pic so the sdf assemble.
VR is dead both at home and in the workplace.
One of the reasons that doesn’t get pointed out enough is how much of an idiot you look with the headset. No one wants their wife / girlfriend laughing and telling them the look like a nerd every time you put the dam thing on.
It lags out occasionally playing it at home so I severely doubt it works flawlessly over the public internet. Why are you lying?
Bungie have problems internally for sure but Sony shouldn’t get a free pass here. Sony have bungled their management of them big time with their live service mandate. Did they forget Bungie’s pedigree in making single player games?
I feel like (rightly or wrongly) there’s a real appetite to reject this stuff right now.
The reasons are many, a general rejection of live service being up there but also a widespread rejection of big companies pushing this idea of ‘cool, mtx, woke’ games on people. Feels like after the cost of living has been so high for so long, people just want to push back on big companies more generally.
Killing your own platform seems like quite a bad reason.
Exactly this. Let Xbox wither on the vine for a couple more years and there will be nothing left.
Xbox operating costs are without a doubt eye wateringly high, way way way higher than Sony. GP is costing them an absolute fortune to operate.
Slop
A screen resolution of 0x0 is optimal
Steam has good pricing and is generally pro consumer, also gamers generally like their library in one place. This is why people like them.
This is absolute bullshit and you know it. If Red Fall and Star Field had hit, Xbox would not have gone third party and you would be here saying the exact opposite of this comment. You are just blindly defending a multi trillion dollar corporation, why?
1. 30m is an appallingly low number.
2. Being that they abandoned exclusives and therefore abandoned their core audience, they will sell far fewer units next gen.
Xbox is a dead brand.
Zero chance Steam appears on Xbox. It would instantly kill the Xbox store and even Microsoft isn’t that stupid.
99% of customers don’t know what keycards are.
Clickbait article submitted by the author. xbox is cooked, done, over, dead.
You think!?
It’s the right move to delay. Most customers don’t want new hardware plus it leaves Xbox to wither on the vine for a few more years, almost certainly killing off any hardware plans they had.
Capcom's willingness to invest in experiments and scrap them sets them apart form many other developers (Nintendo have a similar methodology). Far too often companies push a game setting or game mechanic that is just not that good and the final product is middling or poor.
