the fact that xbox has outsold ps3 for the month of oct is not indicative of the yearly sales.
your rebuttals to aznagi's points were few and very weak. the yearly sales for the two systems are very close (pending source), and sony DOES have more options for the next year.

seriously? jealous of good AAA titles?
your reasoning behind most of those ps3 exclusives being bad is that they did not sell well. that is by no means a way to judge whether a game is good or not. likewise, games that sell well are not necessarily great games. ps3 has had just as many AMAZING games this year, if not more than 360, regardless of how they sold. ps3 owners are not jealous of great titles, we have more of them.
plus dev is leading on the ps3 start...
well if you havent noticed, ps3s are still $400-500.
yes they cut the price from 5-600, but its still out of many peoples budgets. the next one is going to be an important one, because $300 IS starting to get into people's budgets.
and @ 13
$150 bd players are only around for holiday sales. i think low end bd players not on sale run for about 200, am i wrong?
i agree with dark general and strotee
this generation is an endurance race, and i feel that ms is running like a sprint. the longer the race continues, the better chance sony has of catching up and overtaking xbox. remember, we are only in the 2nd/3rd year of this generation, and everyone is already proclaiming a victor. and its true that ms have already played many of its cards, including price drops and two iterations of their flagship titles, halo and gears. now im sure ms...
why does everyone think that 08 was a bad year for sony? they sold on par if not better than 360s for the whole year, and released a number of amazing games. im not saying that 360 did not have a stellar year also, but really, why is everyone making ps3s year out to be horrible?
plus, 09 does look to be a great year for ps3 owners, and what titles have been announced for 360 that have generated as much hype as the up coming ps3 exclusives? honest question. ninja blade, alan w...
lol 360 in the garbage can
that made me laugh, man.
i believe you can get a 32" lcd hdtv for cheaper than that. i believe my friend bought one for ~500
i dont know about 600 for a 42"'er though. probably a vizio if anything lol.
wow a lotta whiners about hddvds. why are you guys fighting the progression of technology? were not cavemen. hdvd was about a big of a jump in technology as there was from single to dual layered dvds. all your moaning and btching wont raise your hddvd player from the dead, so shut your pie holes, fanboys.
damn i thought i had an amazing thought to share, and looks like socomnick stole my fire.
theres no reason to buy a bluray player unless you have a hdtv. thats like buying a dvd player, and watch dvds on a black and white tv. well... not exactly the same thing, but its a fair comparison. bluray offer no advantages to the average consumer who owns a standard definition tv, and it wont completely catch on until hdtvs are standard. thats not to say, however, that it will do po...
hahaha no bubbles for you.
step aside fanboy. when they release the xbox720 with a bluray player, i will do a little jig in front of you shamed face.
fair argument, and im not disputing it at all
but i believe the guy on the show, who sounded like he knew what he was talking about, said that bluray has been more of a curse than a blessing, because they cannot get the disk to spin fast enough to read all of that information stored on the disk, and that is why games require mandatory installs. also it has been stated by a few people above that apparently its faster for a console to stream compressed data from the ram than to st...
completely agree with this. everyone this generation is saying that bd is completely unnecessary, but in actuality, it eventually will be. the xbox720 or whatever you wanna call it will have a bd drive, i guarentee it. everyones going to be using it next gen, so to argue that its a dying technology is stupid.
ho ho ho
another one of THESE arguments. well let me point out that for $80 you can get a nice 500gb hdd for your ps3, OR you can get a nice little 40gb hdd for your xbox.
hmmmm.....the choices...
patapon ftw
i just started this game and finished over the thnxgiving break, and i hafta say, its amazingly fun.
i also just got 3 ps3 games: fallout3, socom, and resistance2 and i have forsaken all of those for the past 4-5 days to play patapon. omg its awesome.
---btw not undermining any of those ps3 games, they are all very very good, but patapon is just toooo fun.
oh man mart, you are an idiot.
there are like, 2 games on the market now that support 1080p natively, and they are all small psn/xbox live games. all the games this generation that "support" 1080p are just upscaled 720p graphics. that fact that killzone2 can run NATIVELY in both 720p and 1080i is very impressive, actually, because most games this generation dont do 1080i natively. killzone2 WILL have 1080p support, but its just going to be upscaled 720p graphics, jus...
that is a matter of opinion, i personally think that msg4 looks a lot more organic that gears2. the unreal engine, to me at least, makes everything seem a little bit clunky.
@solidus
hey we are only taking into account impressive first party games with graphics that wow you. i mean, this time last year, xbox was holding onto gears1 and halo3, and anything else that people proclaimed as a graphical "WOW"?
i completely disagree with you.
you claim that 3rd party multiplatform games are the only/best way to judge the power of hardware, and i completely disagree with you. you say in your post at first that software is not the issue, and that the minor differences in 3rd party games show which console has graphical prowess. but at the end of your post, when addressing 1st party games like mgs, you say that hardware is not important, its the software coding that makes a game look goo...
exactly what i was thinking.
you saved me the trouble of typing it out, so you get a bubble. xD
power consumption is not the only thing that people have to worry about, in fact, id venture out to say that it is only minor compared to other things that need to be regulated such as carbon emissions, toxic/industrial waste management and disposal, and unethical labor practices.
and when it IS around at the end of next year, ill rub it in YOUR face. and the year after that, and the year after that...
and i dunno about a $600 dvd player, but i remember that the biggest draw of the ps2 when it first came out @ $300 was that it cost the same as a dvd player, it was a gaming console, too. and i got mine a year late. however, dvd was not the cheap format it is today, people seem to forget.
bluray is just natural technological progression. denyin...
