well, if they do launch the xbox720, my guess is that gears3 has a good chance to be a launch title.
but i dont think that were going to get the xbox720 by 2010. the 360 is doing pretty good this gen, why would they want to push out a new console? i think they are going to milk it for as long as they can. on top of that, game devs arent even close to tapping either of the systems out yet. i think this gen has quite a ways to go, at least another...

sony has gambled a lot of this race on whether or not people will adopt the new technologies its offering, ie bluray. all of the new tech that it has under the hood have inevitably made it the most expensive console on the market. now i am really just speculating, but sonys 10year plan...
on a week to week basis. remember, it was estimated that they closed the 7m gap from last christmas by 1.5m consoles. and yes, the xbox is putting up huge numbers this season, but theres little more than 2 more holiday shopping weeks left. by the end of the year, i doubt that ms will lead by more than 1m consoles in yearly sales.

you make it sound like the 360 has been dominating all year. the increase of sales has only been over the last month or so, and only due to the price drop. ps3 has outsold the 360 all year.
yes the gap is increasing again, and it will close again when sony drops the price of the ps3 next year. its an ongoing battle. price drops are always going to lead to an increase in sales. however, how many more price drops can ms afford, opposed to sony?

virtually all games now-a-days are natively 720p. 1080p games are upscaled from 720p, whether it be on ps3 or xbox. the comment is a bit misleading. if a games does not support 1080p, it is because it was not coded to upscale to 1080p by programmers. so neither system really supports games in 1080p, because there are no games that run natively in 1080p.
theres no way sony is forsaking bluray, especially after it has pushed it so hard against hddvd. my guess is that if anything, MS will push some kind of digital distribution on their next system, but even that is highly doubtable. think of the size the hdd would have to be. speculating that next gen games are going to be ~blu ray size, ie 50gb, youd only be able to hold 10 games with a 500gb hdd. a 1tb hdd would only hold 20 games. that doesnt include the multitude of other things that y...
i liked ff12. it was different, but really i just saw it as DE trying to reinvent themselves. they change the battle system every ff, and really, theres only so much you can do with the turn based system. now, granted i am a huge fan of turn based combat, i still found ff12 to be quite fun. i especially liked gambits, it really reminded me of computer programming, and it was fun to try get your character to do something with limited parameters. although, it did kind of suck that after you...
that seems like a pretty fair/accurate list by my standards although i didnt play wipeout hd, so i would probably change that with something else.
i agree, not being able to aim and walk/run is pretty dumb. although, in its defense, many of the last gen games were like that; correct me if im wrong, but wasnt it impossible to move while aiming in the old school RE games? perhaps they were trying to keep the nostalgic feel from the previous games. but aside form that, the times have changed, we shouldnt be tied down to last gen gameplay mechanics

the graphics are pretty impressive, and the physics seem pretty good too, this seems very "next gen" to me. the problem i am having with it, is that it is INCREDIBLY linear. open world environments are almost necessary for a zombie survival game; you need space to run. these levels are SO claustrophobic, and while some might see that as a good thing that adds tension, i feel that it just makes the game look small and linear.
also, i hope the person playing just sucks...
they need to bring some of them japanese psp games over there to the states. they are sure doign a lot of supporting over there.
