Wow... "Honey"? Really? Talk about patronising. Why would you use that word? Are all women children to you? It also has sexual undertones. Very sleazy. How can you not see / hear that?

It's not proper in this discussion to start using words like that. It trivialises the whole thing- makes it seem like it's not a big issue and that the girl is somehow being immature or something.

To be honest, you usage of such a word is very telling about ...

Soooo now they're calling us stupid? What's stupid about denying what was clearly a cynical corporate attempt to take even more power from the consumer?

Burning dem bridges. Phase 1 in their totalitarian DRM solution. Alienate all 360 owners, coerce them with the threat of obsolescence and false, tendentious notions of technological progress.

Well anything that treats the reality of rape disproportionately is bad really.

Also, why should people not fear rape? It's a dreadful thing? Society should fear it and do everything in it's power to remove it. Also, to joke about sensitive things in order to neutralise their sensitive content doesn't seem positive to me. Spouting the n-word so irresponsibly and without consideration for the past and the violent history of the word doesn't at all seem progress...

The notion of free speech, as you understand it, is completely and utterly untenable on a world populated by millions of people. Part of what it is to be human is to live in a world with billions of others, and so you simply can't just do and say whatever you please. It's wilfully ignorant and irresponsible. Humour and satire has it's place, I'd never dispute that, but there has to be a line. In no situation can actual rape be considered a good thing or something to be made li...

Some things simply aren't suitable for joking about though. You have to make an effort to empathise with victims. If a whole culture is making jokes about rape, it means that in that culture, people find rape to be suitable as comedic fodder, which is highly inconsiderate to rape victims who certainly exist in great number, within that very society and culture. You get a culture of trivialisation.

The problem with this is that, to people who ever never experienced the hor...

Destiny isn't a risk. It's from the creators of Halo, one of THE most popular fps' ever made. Not to mention it's a super generic sci-fi game. It's impressive looking no doubt, but nothing about it looks or feels "new".

Skylanders was not a risk. Look at that game, it looks like every cartoony platformer ever, not to mention having a toy line which is a SUREFIRE way of roping in millions of ADD children across the globe. Oh and did I mention Spyr...

Doesn't surprise me. Don't give into this corporate power-grabbing.

Microsoft went all in at first- endured a backlash. Now their console's looking a little more like the ps4. Sony didn't go all in, but you can be damn sure they have a similar prospectus to MS. They're playing their cards closer to their chest- cultivating a really superficial and tendentious "pro-consumer" veneer - but they'll certainly implement or try to implement this kin...

I think he's probably right. Most japanese games I just flat out prefer to western games. Although I do feel like there's a difference between Japanese games improving, and Japanese games merely pandering to the West. It's not like Western games are some sort of standard for all videogames. I'm totally on the same page as him when he said this: "There's no question we need a Japanese regain in the game market, especially in AAAs. I'm personally suffocating from th...

I'd like to see a sequel, but NNK kind of felt like a typical Level-5 jrpg with a Ghibli Paint-job (Parts of DC, parts of DQ VIII, parts of Rogue Galaxy, and a similar presentation to all three). Liiiitle bit cynical of them, but it was a good game nevertheless.

A few things they could improve on:

Side quests shouldn't just be the whole "monster hunting" syndrome that plagues games. They should really throw in some actual side-plots and dung...

The momentum has started to crawl a bit. 1.3 million in like 2 days, but it's barely made an extra 200,000 today. I suppose there's enough time for more spikes in the funding, but it's slow at the moment. More console people need to get on this!! Respect the history of videogames!! I think the problem is that too many console gamers are ignorant to the importance and the greatness of Megaman. They're too busy playing crappy AAA games.

I don't think the Voldo ad was tasteless. It was subversive. If you think, as a guy, that it was disturbing, how do you think a lot of women feel? The ratio of Voldo-esque stuff to all sorts of exposed, male-gaze catering women is pretty one sided.

Why on earth would they sexualise Sunny? She doesn't really count.

Mei-Ling? You can stare at her ass at several points in MGS4. That or you don't even have a choice. Deliberate and obvious camera-work.

Emma Emmerich still only functions as Otacon's love interest. She's not exactly a strong character on her own- she's a piece of Otacon's emotional life, she's almost defined by that role. As for Para Medic, well, I'll give you t...

He said he designed her with action figures and sexy cosplay in mind.

Ugh... and this is the same game that's dealing with the subject of child soldiers?...

This, the MGS film, and the choice to replace David Hayter with Kiefer Sutherland, are all just pieces of the mounting evidence that Kojima has lost his soul. Such obvious pandering to regressive cultural things and the shallow mainstream.

Could Kojima just make ONE female character t...

They've shown WAY too much of this game. I feel like we've seen nearly everything already. We've got a glimpse of nearly all the kinds of environment, the mini-sub (They should have left that a surprise), and lots of other stuff.

I kind of feel like Rockstar are being a little bit desperate. It's kind of like the syndrome of putting bullet-points on your game box saying (a la Farcry 2) "the most realistic fire ever!!". It's this kind of pulling o...

I find the whole loot thing really icky. There's something so fetished, materialistic and utilitarian about it all. Just this weird sense of hoarding all these riches and all this stuff. I understand the appeal- I've played many a game with looting mechanics, but lately it just doesn't agree with me as much. I think I'm still in the process of formulating or developing an aversion to it. Part of me feels it's a thing in videogames that isn't too good for our heads...
