Those things are bad, but it was obvious right from the beginning that this LITERALLY a copy-paste of Unbounded with only online features.

That kind of explains why so many characters in animes and jrpgs are white and western actually.

Nah I think he just confirmed films of both Portal and Half Life. The latter had already sort of been confirmed, so... Sad day.

I think the reason videogame film tie-ins don't work is because most ESTEEMED directors and screenwriters don't really take games seriously, and they're totally right not to do so, at least in the state they are right now. Most of the videogame movies that have been made in the last decade have been made by idiots and have largely (not all of them- silent hill for example) been idiotic games themselves.

The things about most games is that so much of their quality ...

I don't think that's got anything to do with our "nature" tbh, whatever that might be (I'd argue our "nature" is actually our lack of a "nature", or at least or ability to mould our nature into whatever we want.) All it has to do with is what our history books have taught us, which isn't necessarily the right way to go about doing things- and also our culture. I also don't think we should take comfort in the "familiarity" of imperial...

Yeah, it's so ridiculous how so many other aliens are anthropomorphic. Anthropocentrism or what?

Also why are endeavors into space in big sci-fis like Mass Effect always imperial in nature? Why can't people conceive of any other way for us to relate to space?

Well this is the thing. So much fetishised stuff gets in the way of games reaching the heights film and literature have. Obsessions with graphics, performance and tech- these things aren't conducive to a good story or narrative or piece of art, or they aren't necessarily. The SNES proved that for chrissakes- Chrono Trigger is still easily one of the best games ever.

These juvenile fascinations that pervade gaming culture are pretty much owing to how games have been i...

These things feed into those issues though cleft. They contribute to a culture from which "real" issues arise. Also, these "real" issue can generate items of culture that spin them a certain way and make things worse. It's a kind of two-way street. Things like this reinforce or contribute to how people think about women on a cultural level.

4627d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

You're right, of course it is, but only if it's a false evaluation of such a woman. But it's a thing that still exists. It's not an attack saying this about a woman anyhow, it's an attack on the system they live within that's cultivated and encouraged that lack of self-awareness. Like I said, it's a case of "whether or not", and it doesn't apply to all women, but it does apply to quite a number, and it's not actually their fault.

Seems likely that Quiet is a victim in the game which sort of invalidates this article's central thesis, i.e. "However, if a character is just ok with her sexuality-it’s a personality trait of hers and that’s how she’s decided to portray herself-then I don’t really see the problem." Of course there's nothing necessarily wrong with this, but the evidence is mounting to suggest that's not what the character of Quiet is all about.

There's also the issue...

Yeah, there's a worrying amount of green. Hope it's not San Andreas syndrome all over again.

Now THAT, is an example of bad j-pop / j-rock.

Just because they were influenced by Chrono Trigger and Grandia 2 doesn't mean this'll be good. Just because you're influenced by something doesn't mean you'll be able to create something just as good- At most it'll be very good, but at the very least it'll be a mere imitation- middle ground then is mediocrity.

I don't really like this western cultural hegemony. They're clearly trying to co-opt a japanese genre for themselves. Also Farcry 3...

Just Cause 2 was easily the most fun open world game I've ever played. I loved how knowingly shlocky the plot and the characters were as well. Generally I'm against open world games HAVING to be super violent like they ALL are, but JC2 was a blast. In fact the killing part was easily the least interesting part about the game, so I didn't even do it that often.

Whatever about it being empty, the grapple made everything feel so interactive, and it was cool to just p...

Little to no difference in the greater scheme of things unless the advertising campaign is aggressive. You plan to buy a Ps4, few people just see the ads when it's released and randomly decide to buy one. Most of the sales of the ps4 have already been ordained in advance.

Someone should see how it sizes up to Just Cause 2.

I'm actually pretty sure a lot of people don't realise Titanfall is only online, or at least if they do, it's only a recent realisation.

I don't see how they could manage 6 million at this rate. It's slowed down to like 30,000 a day and dropping. If you look at that graph, the line is going up, but so so gradually. If you plot it continually at that grade till the end, it only hits like 2,500,000.

4629d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Okay I feel like they definitely won't hit 3,300,000 at the speed it's currently going. I hope they hit the extra end stage and boss stretch goal though, they might just manage it.
