I expressed a sort of similar thing in my recent blog on this site: http://n4g.com/user/blogpos...
I'm totally behind the sentiment of this article. Gamers have this "bubble" attitude. They don't want anyone interfering on their hobby, they want to live in these fantasy worlds were everything is nice and simple and juvenile and in which they don't have to think. The whole "...
I hope Sega don't bring Atlus down with them if they, very possibly, crash. Also I hope they have little to no influence on Atlus' creative process.
I don't think Just Cause 2's map is big to a fault, I think it's great. Great variety in locations, great sounds and ambience, lots to see, and the grapple just makes it all like ten times better, there's nowhere you can't go with it.
I'll admit it's probably not as full of life as GTA, but I think it makes up for that in the fun factor. It has a lot of emergent gameplay stuff going on. Plus, with online, it becomes full of life in a real way.
Finally some dame sense. Your absolutely right though. I think we're SUPPOSED to find GTA games uncomfortable. The only problem there is that many don't.
The America that GTA games portray is meant to be biting satire, but people rarely come away from it realising the message that the game was trying to convey. Just like in this. I'm sure many will come away from GTAV seeing most of the misogynistic shit as somehow "normal" and "accurate", but ...
People can't take it when their little videogame bubble world is impinged upon. Grow up.
Also, the days when the standard of reviewing was purely based on "technical accomplishment" and "entertainment value", are long over. The matters being flagged up in games are not trifling, they represent a greater critical awareness and consciousness. You can tell yourself that it's just entertainment all you like, but in the end, these are the building block...
"But she shouldn't be mad when a crude comedian like daniel tosh makes fun of it."
Em, why not? Why is some ignorant, crude comedian allowed to say that? He has NO idea of the reality of rape and has never experienced it himself. He has absolutely no right to be going around cracking cheap, crude jokes about rape just to make money out of being a shit comedian. It's totally disrespectful, insensitive, and inconsiderate. How hard must it be for a rape victim ...
I think I get what Rockstar are going for with this game. The main characters as SUPPOSED to be complete assholes. You're not supposed to like them or what they stand for AT all. I also think it's some sort of commentary on the American dream and capitalism and the kind of people it has produced. I think then the portrayal of women, which one reviewer noticed was "airheaded" throughout, might even be a comment on people's understandings of women, not the reality of women...
Cool. These have all been sweet so far. Kind of hope they don't spoil ALL the Mighty No.s though.
One of the better pieces written about this game for sure.
TL;DR eh? Well then, I guess that means you didn't read the review either since that's much longer. Oh well, I'd expect nothing more from a rabid, reactionary GTA fanboy with zero critical faculties.
Does all information have to be in sound bite form for you to bother with it? What an intelligent and well read person you must be.
Didn't leave out tennis. The reason he probably left out all that other stuff is because he had no issues with it, and in fact that good stuff probably contributed to the score he gave it positively. He frequently praises the games massive and detailed world full of stuff to do.
"Since when have you played a good buy in GTA?"
Did you even read? They clearly address that.
"What's missing in GTA V's story is a sense that the characters have been painted into a corner by various machinations beyond their control, like Niko Bellic of GTA IV, or must commit their crimes to mete out justice, as Tommy Vercetti does in Vice City. The three main characters of GTAV do terrible things merely to get paid."

Why do people want to simulate being psychopath though? You have to ask yourself that. Particularly in this game where they're all just pure evil as opposed to anti-heroes.
For me, I can barely play a videogame if the character is a dick, let alone if he or she is just murdering wantonly.
Farcry 3 was unplayable to me just because I didn't want the main character or his dumb friends to succeed. It was a white male frat boy power fantasy- a white kid becoming t...
I love all the drones complaining about piracy. First of all, this is only an initial development, it'll be a while before it becomes anything with which we can play dumped roms. Gateway 3DS is out, but that's a kind of 1:1 thing that requires all sorts of fiddly cartridge swapping and isn't actually an exploit that decrpyts using the Nintendo private key thing.
Secondly, when a console reaches the end of its "life-cycle", why not pirate it? Why not make...
Eh, I'm pretty sure XV and KHIII will make another appearance regardless of what this map shows. Maybe on the event stage or the Mega Theater? If not then maybe the Sony conference.
Well if anything, a presentation in which the demo player keeps failing because of difficult AI shows that the game is super challenging. Which isn't exactly a bad thing.
Although I suppose it depends on what he means by "unpredictable". There's kind of a thin line there between complex and just plain stupid. They might just behave in ways that no person would ever behave in. I guess we'll see.
Oh trust me I know how graphics mean nothing without all the other departments also being good. My problem is chiefly with the false advertisement that's clearly happened here. All those trailers and screens were clearly doctored.
Maybe people will start listening to reason now that this guy's legitimising it. Shame they need someone who they THINK has power and is authoritative when really there are probably plenty of equally if not more intelligent people who AREN'T working for one of the biggest videogames developers ever. Still, so long as people are encouraged by this guy to actually research and understand the substance of the anti-sexists rather than just jumping on a bandwagon with no real understanding...
Well it doesn't look like the trailers or the screenshots that's for sure.
"JUST DON'T PLAY IT".
Translation: "don't play or even read about my game so you don't and can't form an opinion of it that challenges it." Bubble mentality.
"Leave the game for those who have INTELLIGENTS" (my emphasis). Sorry, I usually don't call people out for spelling mistakes, but that one was pretty amusing.
First of all, these games get played by impressionable children and the mentall...
