The time for the slightly more powerful Switch has already passed.

If anything, I’d say given Nintendo’s history with handhelds, I still expect a significant upgrade.

That said, people tend to underestimate just how much the handheld factor will limit what we can get (just look a the Steam Deck, which is even significantly more expensive than a Switch and still targets 720p) and even then Nintendo will drop specs even more to focus on battery life and hea...

@pete

And that was still the Wii version, with literally no WiiU enhancements whatsoever…

I 100% prefer a remaster of the level we got at $40 than just a simple upres port of the trilogy at $60 like it has happened with basically every other Nintendo remaster so far, or even worse for them to release a Wii port for $20 with no enhancements

Not to mention this is clearly part of the work Retro is doing graphically for Prime 4

Because its a great remaster? And actually reasonably priced against all odds?

I dont need them to be telling me every six months that Prime 4 is still coming. They are developing the game and will show more details when its ready, simple as that.

I have no problems with Nintendo not showing it yet if they still don’t want to

And one more for good measure.. because quite frankly, its not even remotely close to the GC or Wii versions. In the graphical aspect it is undoubtedly a remake.

Its honestly a bit mindblowing that people are calling it an upres or a barebones remaster. Its quite clear that there is a significant amount of work put into it

This is practically at the middle between a (good) remaster and remake

New lightning and shadows, new geometry, the vast majority of textures seem to be seriously reworked or entirely re...

@Concertoine

Its a remaster, just like its named.. no one is saying its a full blown remake, but its clearly more than just an upres of the wii game

This doesn’t look at all like an upres version of a wii game…

Whether it should include the whole trilogy or what cost it should have is kind of a separate topic, but it absolutely doesnt look like an upres is the only thing that was done

Why are people acting like better graphics are what dictate whether a game has the kind of development that is worth $70 or not?
If it takes 5+ years to make and the dev team is a similar size to games from Sony or Nintendo, why would the budget be any lower?
Not that I want any game to be $70, but making a game prettier is not necessarily what drives development costs lol

Unless the RT is REALLY impressive (practically path traced), it doesn't seem particularly well optimized for even a 4090 to not reach 60fps in native 4k or 70-80fps in DLSS quality.

I’m definitely also in Team Bad Looking Rain, it just feels off.

Too white, too much and it only interacts with Leon’s model but not against anything else in the environment (i think this is whats making it feel the weirdest for me, its way too much rain and there’s 0 splashes against the environment)

Literally the entire article is framed as this being a negative thing and you are not replying to anyone who has said its a good thing….

So I gotta ask? …. What are you talking about?…

Mmm to play those games?… why would I put even a second of caring that someone else will also get to play those games too?

Its still a massive source of revenue for Sony, remember that they get a 30% commission for every single PSN transaction related to COD (both sales and DLC) and we know COD pulls a ridiculous amount of money. (specially on Playstation)

Make no mistake, this is probably one of the biggest reasons Sony is fighting to guarantee COD will remain on PS, its hundreds of millions of dollars for a game they arent even making

Europe was always involved, there was even a deadline already set for their response and this part is actually still just another natural part of the process in which they outline their concerns/objections to MS and based on what they negotiate with them they decide to approve or reject it.

But this isnt something new or strange, it’s literally how its supposed to happen regardless of what they decide in the end

I’d give it a solid 8.

My biggest complaint would be that the vast majority of side missions/content were 2000’s MMO level garbage.

The only other I could think if is that is was pretty easy to tell some locations in the game received a lot more love and graphical polish than others (not surprising given the somewhat troubled development)

But overall it was quite good, both amazing or average seem too far of the on the ends of the spect...

@ CBaoth were exactly in anything that I’ve said suggest anything about the games sales being poor? Thats not even part of whats being discussed here

I literally said its how it works for the entire industry… even smaller titles can consider reaching 1+ million sales an accomplishment with a combined user base of more than 200 million consoles (+PC). It is exactly the same for everyone and just part of how strange the gaming market is that even with hundreds of millions con...

That doesnt make his point any less valid. Its clear the scope is bigger this time and that will take more time, whether that means a better game..time will tell. Bigger isnt always better

Scope creep is definitely a potential problem in game development, especially if they are suddenly working on something bigger than they’ve had to work on before.

@Chevalier

Yes, each of those games has sold 20 million+, which means it only reached close to 1/6 of the PS4 user base… (90+ million PS4 users that have/had a PS4 and didnt buy any or most of those games)

Not sure why you are mentioning COD because I didnt.. its not an1st party game

Not sure why people somehow keep taking it like its some kind of attack on Sony when its something that applies for all consoles and its just part of how s...

@SeTTriP

I agree, the most loyal part of the user base is and always be the biggest factor because they represent the most consistent source of revenue for these companies and they also include the biggest spenders (not to mention they dont really make most of the revenue from console sales but from software)

@darkrider

Care to explain why not even the biggest 1st party titles reach 1/4 of the install base? (With the majority actually somewhere between 1/10 and and 1/7)

The playstation brand is significantly more popular than the Xbox brand. Yes, quality and popular games are a part of why the brand is big, but that still doesnt change the fact that the VAST majority of console owner are NOT buying those first party games.

It really is as s...
