dude, if you're basing your argument on one game then there's no point even continuing this discussion. Uncharted, Tools of Destruction and Heavenly Sword all three delivered in my book; GT5, MGS4, FFXIII, Resistance 2, Confrontations, Wipeout HD and Motorstorm are all from proven franchises while White Knight Chronicles and Infamous are from proven developers. Killzone 2 shows promise, and is easily one of the most graphically impressive games ever shown for consoles.
as far...
dude, they BOTH have good line-ups this year. MGS4 is just the tip of the iceberg for the PS3. personally i have never really had an interest in Ninja Gaiden 2. played Black, and while it had a really good combat system, its story and characters were utterly bland. Too Human doesn't look bad, but nothing i'd tout as a system seller. Alan Wake is gorgeous, but so far all they've shown is DirectX10 PC footage, no 360 footage. for me GOW 2 and Fable 2 are the killer-apps for 360 this year,...
well, the reason i don't shop at Gamestop too often is because they usually employ fanboys, be they Sony-loyal idiots or Microsoft-loyal idiots. i don't need help when i shop for games, and i especially don't need some clerk judging my choice of purchase because he thinks all "Sony droids" or all "XBots" are idiots. i usually already know what i want, and for which system i want it. i usually know when a game's coming out, if it'll have a Limited or Special Edition, how...
i really don't understand why people try to slam this game. it looks phenomenal, especially considering it still has about 9 months of development left.
...agree with Itagaki about DMC (he has always come off as a puppet to me), but he is right. i haven't enjoyed that series since the first game. just feels shallow. keep in mind i wasn't necessarily one of those who thought Ninja Gaiden Black was the second coming of Jesus either. while the combat in NGB was second to none, the story and characters were just bland to me. in my opinion, God of War is much better. Kratos is the coolest videogame character since Sephirot, God of War's stor...
this is one heck of a game. i highly suggest other PS3 owners to get it. i already have it on my 360; still debating whether or not i'll get the PS3 version for any extras (probably won't, seeing as by that time i'll be knee deep into Bioshock 2). but yeah, this is good news for everyone, definitely no "loss of face" (as Itagaki infamously said about NG2 potentially coming to PS3) for anyone involved.
it is more challenging to get the same quality out of the PS3 as the 360 when you're a developer who has spent majority of his/her time on a platform (PC) that shares a lot of similarities with the latter system. everyone should know by now that it is moronic to judge a system (especially the quality of its graphics) based on multiplatform games, especially since most multiplatform developers cater to the lowest common denominator (which usually has the highest install base). in this case w...
sorry. i'm no technology whiz, but i don't see what graphics have to do with lenght of game. while not as impressive graphically as GOW, Mass Effect used UE3 as well, and it was easily 30 hours long. Mistwalker put Lost Odyssey (which was chock full of CG cutscenes) on four dvds. if DVD limitation is the reason GOW was so short, then i'd happily settle for a 3-disc game if it meant a longer single player campaign.
as to Heavenly Sword and Uncharted, you're right. both tho...
completely agree. it'd be a stretch to take "5 times bigger" to mean 5 times longer (that would make the game something like 30 hours), but still i hope they manage at least a 12 hour single player campaign. lack of length was probably my only complaint with the first GOW.
screw review sites i say. i go by personal taste. i liked Link to the Past enough to where i knew i'd like Ocarina of Time, and i liked GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas enough to know that i'd like GTA IV. neither OcT or GTA IV were perfect in my book, unlike the countless sites that have given them both perfect scores. i go by developer's pedigree and videos (not videos made by Gametrailer, mind you) to determine what i think will be good. Gamespot gave Motorstorm 7.9/10, and it's eas...
agreed. Link to the Past was also my favorite Zelda game, and one of my all time favorites as well.
"Then again, does it really matter considering they’re both great games"
then why compare them, especially sinc the difference ratings is less than a point. personally, neither game is my all time favorite. that honor goes to the likes of Suikoden 2, God of War 2, Resident Evil 4 and Oblivion.
i guess its just a matter of opinion and preference. like i said, i love the Wii for Wii Play and Wii Sports, and will probably look into other games of the sort. but for more traditional games i'm not sure. it could be that i'm just used to Zelda and Mario utilizing classic controls, and i'm not keen on the change...i dunno. i think its because with traditional games i'm used to sitting down and playing. standing and moving your arms and body can be jarring for something like Zelda or M...
the day the Wii, or any device with a Wii-like interface, becomes the only standard of the game industry will mark the last day i buy a console. don't get me wrong: i respect what Nintendo's attempting to do, and i genuinely like the Wii, but only as a supplement to my PS360. i love Wii Sports and Wii Play, but i hate every other conventional game that i've played on the Wii, including Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess. those games belong on consoles with traditional controllers.
if PS3 owners really wanted Bioshock so bad, then they should've gotten a 360 for it. however, if Bioshock (and subsequently its sequel) does indeed come to the PS3, then why should 360 fanboys be upset? i mean its not like they'll be missing out on anything.
...let me point out the difference. this DBZ screen mix-up was used merely to preview a game that'll be available on both systems. sites like, oh i don't know, ALL of them (probably even Kotaku), do it all the time, be it PS3 screens on 360 previews, or 360 screens on PS3 previews. that's a huge difference from trying to pass one version off as another when you're doing a COMPARISON between two competing systems in an attempt to educate gamers as to which version to buy.
oh, Sony talks garbage too. no one's refuting that. but i'm curious: what has Reeves and Trenton said lately that has been as detached-from-reality as some of the stuff Greenburg has said?
last April i believe 360 outsold PS3 by a comfortable 2-to-1 margin. this April it's dead even (i'm sorry, but NPD's numbers aren't accurate enough to allow for a 360 win by a mere 900 systems; for all we know PS3 could've outsold 360 by 900 systems at Target or KMart). so, i'm not sure how PS3 is getting squeezed out of a 2 year old console war, especially when it's cleaning the 360's clock everywhere BUT in the US, and especially since it has outsold the 360 in 08 so far.
very, very, very VERY valid points. i cannot stress that enough. its kinda frustrating really. admittedly i'm no technology whiz, but i can't for the life of me figure out why Sony has yet to address these things. hopefully it'll all fall in place this year, sooner rather than later.
well i have a Live gamertag, and i myself am sick of this dude. sure, at first he was interesting, now he's just spouting a bunch of drivel. "First to 10 Million wins" "First to 100 Million wins" "We have the best exclusive line-up" "We're focused on beating Sony." i never had a heaping of respect for companies who proclaim that their sole purpose is beating the competition. sure, we know thats what companies do, but usually they're good with keepin...
