At least that explains it for you, lol.
I haven't seen a single PS4 ad yet O.o
(Edit)
I live in the UK mind you so it might be the case the ad campaign hasn't started here yet.
Also, what the hell is up with those disagrees?! I said "I haven't seen any PS4 ads yet" it's not like I said "Those Sony scum bags can't even put out an ad!" seriously get a life people! I'm looking forward to the PS4 like everyone else.
Well said, that's exactly how I feel.
There are other games like Beyond: Two Souls that are less interactive than your typical game, and focus instead on the story and characters, like Telltale's: The Walking Dead and their new game The Wolf Among us game. The difference is though that those games have good stories, are well written and are fun to play, where as Beyond: Two Souls has a lackluster story, is poorly written, uninteresting and is often very boring.
Honestly, I dislike the passive, movie like approach to video games.
It just seems lazy to me, as if it's implemented in order to force the player down linear or pre-determined paths while maintaining the focus on the story, or immediate events. Well that's all well and good if the story is good and what little gameplay mechanics you have are fun.
Player interactivity should be a key element for a video game otherwise why not just make a movie? Tellta...
I get what you're saying but, audio books are still books, you're listening just as if someone was reading a "book" to you, and just like a traditional book you still need to imagine what's going on since there are no moving images like we have with movies or video games.
As I stated already, Beyond: Two Souls is a video game but it attempts to be a movie first by being primarily passive, that's not too much of an issue if the plot, story and chara...
Thanks for commenting.
Well that's certainly a valid strategy, but it still doesn't answer the question as to whether or not console exclusive games are even necessary now.
Putting a stop to console exclusive games wouldn't mean that games like Heavy Rain or God of War would no longer get developed, it would just mean that they would end up on all platforms instead of just one, the big question I'm asking is, if that was the case would we really need multiple consoles to choose from? Since they would all function pretty much the same way par a few special features?
The thing is though, games switching console exclusivity is pretty common, for example the Final Fantasy franchise for a long time was a Nintendo exclusive before Sony got a hold of it, so as much as I sympathise with those who are disappointed this is nothing new. Yes it's a shame for those who want to play Bayonetta 2 and can't, but neither Nintendo nor sega have any obligation to them.
Anyway thanks for commenting!
Awesome! I just got my September winnings this morning, thanks for speeding up the delay! :D
Halo 3 was pretty darn smooth at launch.
For the sake of varied opinions.
In all honesty, I could only tolerate this game by watching it as a lets play, the gameplay is incredibly passive anyway so it honestly made little difference to my opinion overall.
While the game has a interesting and unique play style I found everything minus the graphics to be pretty average, as much as an emotional connection to the characters has been aped as a strong point I personally had absolutely no emotional connect...
It's actually pretty fun :)
I'm not a big mobile gamer myself but it's the kind of game you can pick up and play anytime, even for a short while, and feel like you've made at least some progress.
That reminds me, thanks for introducing me to the game Cat! :D
Taking the 2D open world of GTA and creating a 3D version of it that actually functioned was in itself a huge innovation, never before had such interaction and freedom of exploration been possible in a 3D setting.
Mario 64 set the bar, I'm still impressed today with how incredibly fun and functional one of the very first 3D adventure games actually turned out. But yeah I agree with pretty much everything else you've said.
There are only so many games aping the same concepts or replicating similar gameplay mechanics that I can tolerate before growing bored of them all... Maybe it's "franchise fatigue" or maybe many games really are less entertaining then they once were.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the blog.
I had'nt heard of Tres FX before, sounds intaresting, hopefully they can put it to good use like in yiur examples.
Hell no! I didn't help Kickstart the damn game to have Capcom interfere and ruin it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the read.
I also find myself craving to play old PS2 games and a few retro classics these days, many of the current titles just don't seem to do it for me lately.
At least we a few devs giving us a bit of variety, I dread to think what my gaming habits would be like without them.
Pretty much exactly that, but what will happen next gen is anyone's guess.
Well my real issue with having to pay for Xbox Live is that I already pay my Internet provider and full price for a game, I don't expect and will not accept having features like online being held to ransom especially when I already meet the requirements to use it if I was playing on a PS3 or Wii/ Wii U.
If other people are OK with it then fair enough, I don't speak for ever...
Ah, well the ads probably just haven't started yet in the UK.
