2-way tie, since Deus Ex was released in 2000.
It's hard to decide between Half-Life, DF2: Jedi Knight and System Shock 2. Deus Ex wasn't released in the 90s, btw.
The promise is that you never have to worry about hardware. The platform will constantly be upgraded to run the newest games at highest settings.
But yeah, I'm not sure whether there are enough people interested in games that are not already playing on computers or consoles. I don't see the service luring away established pc or console gamers.
Where did you find this information? I think it's more targeted towards people who want to play without having to fuss with gaming pcs or consoles. So, basically, people that are even lazier than console gamers. I'm not sure if they exist, but we'll see.
A cloud never goes down..if it does, it is no cloud.
You are funny. You should go to clown college.
Yeah, it's like C&C with strategic zoom now. They removed all cool features, shrank the maps and weapon ranges and introduced a research tree that makes it hard to switch strategies midgame (can't just reclaim and rebuild like in previous games) and favor rushing, because cheap units will be upgraded automatically.
They basically took an almost perfect game and turned it into another starcraft/warcraft/c&c/DoW /etc. How sad.
@Revvin: Steam is a great network.
@dirthurts: You are wrong. There are some classics that are worth playing even now, e.g. the X-Com series, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, AvP2, to name just a few. Their gameplay still shames many modern titles.
@2Spock: So, you've played all those games and didn't enjoy them? Or how do you know they don't provide "great singleplayer experiences"? And even if you did, how would your opinion prove the point that pc gaming is so bad right now?
@2Spock: you are essentially describing steam, except with steam, you don't even have to put a disc in, you just dbl-click the game you feel like playing. What I sometimes do is have a single-player game open in the background (yeah, PC can run two games at once), while waiting for ppl to join in MP games, or during downtimes, when I'm waiting for a round to end, etc., so I just hit ctrl+esc and play some Singleplayer, and when I get a message from a pal that next round is starting, switch ov...
So, because one company sells crap you are illegaly copying another company's goods? And you even think it's justified? Did it occur to you, that those two companies might not have any connection whatsoever?
It's not stealing, because making illegal copies of new games is also not stealing.
It's still wrong.
Sorry, but the Bible was written before digital goods were available. They couldn't possibly know that virtual goods would also need protection, not from stealing, but from COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.
Piracy is not stealing, but it's still very wrong.
@ramon_v: look, it's the age old misconception. Pirating is not stealing. It's making an illegal copy. There are separate sections in the big book of law applying to each case. The only people that want you to believe it's the same as stealing are the producers of such goods.
It's still wrong, though, don't do it.
Haha, you guys are funny. Those assets of the Tifa actor are certainly stuffed. And I mean not surgically, you can tell it on the "close up", the curvature of the skin texture indicates cushions underneath.
Also, last pic FTW. Dude has courage!
Well, the feeling of importance and achievement you can get from a game is hard to achieve in real life. Combine it with strong social aspects, and you get a very potent psychological drug.
I'll openly attack you and tell you that the sorry state of your brother is also due to your lack of action to end it.
Hehe. Now that you mention it, there is a rumored MMO that kills the user if his character dies. It does so by the game requiring you to give address details and the game mods driving by the players houses killing the ones with dead chars.
But yeah, it probably doesn't exist. But it makes for good geek-party-talk.
Also, he disproved his theory in his own sentence.
Hardcore MMO? Try an MMO with perma-death.
Which would be good, because without competition, Valve will slowly turn the profit screw.
