It would not smooth them, but smudge them.
And you will read it again and again. It's hardcore vs. casual, what do you expect? The hardcore crowd always makes it possible for the casual folks, and they seem to expect some kind of gratitude for this. But instead, they get ridiculed and beaten with ignorance. This happens everywhere, not just in gaming.
@ Rush: According to the steam hardware survey, which is quite representative, the primary Desktop resolution of pc gamers is 1280x1024, which is 1.3 Megapixels and 33% larger resolution than HDTV (not full hd, mind you). Furthermore, there are only 25% of people with a lower resolution, and almost 50% have resolutions above this.
Relative screen coverage for a 17" screen is ~138 quadratic inch in 20" viewing distance, which gives us 6.9 quadratic inch per inch distance...
@FoxGod: or maybe these guys don't use RPG for every game that allows some character development and has a few branching quest arcs? Just because everybody else has a different opinion doesn't make yours wrong, you know. If you blindly accept the mass truths, then you believe that the sun is turning around the earth, that the moon is a planet, and that Jesus died for you.
Well, FF7 was more of an interactive story, than a game. I loved it.
But I also loved Diablo, Baldur's Gate, Fallout 2, Half-Life...
The thing with this iPad is that it currently only appeals to a small selection of people. But they will love it. And it will spread by word of mouth.
I'm also not a fan, but I see the niche where it fits perfectly. There are a lot of professions where a digital notepad would come in handy, but a notebook is too bulky and a smartphone is too small.
Uh? Who told you review scores between platforms were directly comparable?
My flat has only 3 windows. Why need 7? Two on either side would work well enough to create some airflow...
So? You know that Rebellion did the original AvP, which came out years before Halo 1, right? And there you could already play 3 different races with completely unique gamestyles in MP. Oh, and in SP, each race had an own campaign.
I hope not because both films Aliens 4 and AVP2 were not very good.
You know what sucked in AVP2 MP? When you had lifecycle on, were already a Praetorian, and did the final kill to become queen in a small room.
AVP2 was an awesome MP game. One of the best MP experiences I've ever had.
You don't pay a fortune to play at your desk, because most intelligent people already own a PC, and to turn this one into a gaming machine costs like 150-200$. The desk and "tiny" screen (which is actually bigger when you factor in how close you are) are not disadvantages either, but this might be something you can't understand.
But back to topic: ME1 is a good game, if you don't go to the generic planets and only do the story missions and quests on the citadel. The gen...
Thanks for the link, interesting read. I still remember the exaggerations Microsoft spread about DX10 (8 times the performance of DX9 at the same quality). I don't think it will be much different with DX11.
@The creep: i'd get the lowest priced black edition with a good cooler and overclock it. They overclock pretty well, and you can save some money this way. I have a 955 running at 3.6 GHz myself.
Devs are shifting to console games, because simply more people play on consoles. They just use the pirates as an excuse. Good PC games still render profit, despite piracy. But why put the effort into a good PC game, when you can make a console game with less effort that sells better?
Hmm, do you even understand the Modern Warfare 2 controversy? It's a step back for a PC game, yet it costs an additional 10$. Why should it sell?
You say there is a reason that most people are into console gaming, and not into PC gaming, yet you can't even name it. I can: lazyness.
It's not cheaper for everyone. It depends on what hardware you already have and how many games you buy a year.
Do you have a computer? If so, better spend the 200$ on a nice graphics card than on a console. It gives you better performance and access to cheaper games.
Console gaming is not cheaper than PC gaming. The games are cheaper, so if you buy like 10 games a year and keep your rig for 3 years, the additional hardware costs are already covered.
Also in the article, console pro arguments 3 and 1 are exactly the same. And the home theater pro argument is actually a con arg...
I think he's talking about verbal giveaways of the sort "i have a totally kick-ass pc, but prefer the gamepad over kb and mouse in halololorz".
