Just use a game disk they ALL have the current firmware on them.
The new games that will be released will be wanting official Sony only firmware or won't play or you can update to it via the disk.
It's not hacked the hackers are just tricking the Cell with a SPU8 emulator to get the keys.
Once sony stop that from working then it'll be hard to hack the system, in fact that one piece of hardware hasn't been cracked or altered simply bypassed currently.
That bypass can be removed.
New hardware will mean the either net port will be removed and the only USB items working will be proper sony USb memory sticks etc.
Yeah that happens all the time in the mining biz and car companies etc.
it'll end up happening in the game industry.
It'll end up being a case of geohot was found in a dump or fell off the back of a train and died.
or went for a walk and ended up getting lost and simply didn't get back home again.
It happens all the time.
Currently though Sony's court case won't have started yet, they'...
If this new CFW has new keys then the keys aren't in the Cell CPU at all.
The real question is what is actually in this update, just because it was hacked so fast doesn't mean Sony intended this firmware to stop the current hacks being used.
Sony could release a new FW that simply bricks hacked PS3s after all why would they care about the bad PR if it was bricking people's PS3s that are only pirating the games anyway, and whos really going to be w...
@Wenis
Yeah I know I bought a PS3 too!
and all I could play on it was stupid console games and blu-ray movies how pathetic is that!
I've always waited for the day where I can run a homebrew MP3 player or movie player on the PS3 but standard sony firmware doesn't allow that.
Err, Yes.... your screwed because your GFX card already does DX11.
The game is going to flop on the PC.
It'll have been only made for the 360 and anything else that runs it won't be all that crash hot.
Saying a game runs on DX11 doesn't mean much other than it'll require Win 7 and won't run on any other windows as they can't get DX11.
If the demo came out for the 360 only then the whole game will be geared towards the 360 only.
The PC version will suffer because it won't be made a for a keyboard/mouse set up and the GFX engine won't allow for the PC hardware to it's best.
Seen this all before and it's never a good ending.
PS3 version? well has anything been released for it lol no so it'll suffer because it's not a 360 controller and the engine won&...
They'll keep appealing.
It'll never stop ever.
If it doesn't work in that state it'll be moved to another state and be appealed.
The PSN ToS doesn't mean much as once you open the box you agree to everything on the back of the manual anyway, which will be the same stuff as the PSN, then you'll have firmware updates which he's updated to 3.15 at least which he'd have agreed to that ToS as well, also you have th...
If everything has been from the 360 so far then the PC version will be the same as the 360 so it'll be cut back.
I would say this game won't be good on pc and most likly be far too slow paced to allow for console gamers to keep up with the game
The economic damages comes from the pirating side of this hacking.
He has screwed himself because he released custom firmware on a licensed system, he is trying to take Sony out of the playstation brand.
People are releasing pirated games for his custom firmware right now.
This would be a no no in US law.
I the same deal as when people squat in a rented house and claim it is their's to do anything they like with it.
I wonder if this is the homebrew geohot has been whinging about?
Chevron7 jailbroken the win7 phone but MS have also turned around and said they have to remove it or face being sued.
Sony could alter the keys and then patch every game that's been released.
No one seems to think of that your no longer in the days where games can't be patched on a console.
I couldn't see a PS3 emu.
First you'd have to use a intel chip to pretend to be 2 CPUs + 8 SPUs after that.
Also you'd have to copy all the RSX calls and you'd need to rip apart a RSX chip as you wouldn't have the calls.
Then you'd have to make up a pretend RAMBUS pathway as the PS3 doesn't use DDR which is far to slow compared to a RAMBUS setup.
overall I couldn't see it happening and if it di...
@Omegasyde
He's a goner for sure, the digital copyright millenium act was brought in the deal with this stuff directly.
The people it's used against have to PROVE they DIDN'T do what they are being accused of doing, other wise your guilty.
It's not really a case of Sony having to prove their side they just have to provide enough stuff so that he can't PROVE that he didn't do the hacking.
To which ever...
I wonder how he's going to get out of the agreeing to the T7Cs on the back of the manual, that you agree to when you open the box to a PS3.
I guess he hasn't thought of that and this lawyer probably isn't going to be too crash hotz either, if he hasn't picked up on that.
T&C's aren't just for the PSN.
Also he'd have agreed to the firmware upgrade T&Cs as well, as it has a firmware updated PS3 to 3.55.
@MmaFanQc
It's silly to say that as The pirate bay used that for a good 5 or so years before getting sued twice losing twice and having multi million dollar fines against all the people and ended up in jail.
Sure US laws can't be applied but that also doesn't mean you are free to hack stuff while hacking might be legal it might not in euro laws.
but Sony might not fuss majorly about FoF for now as they have Geohot screwed in the U...
Geohot is in the USA and he's a goner.
he'll be bankrupt for the rest of his natural life.
If a mother can be done over for 200+ million dollars from a jury as well so what do you think he's going to get in a US court.
Apple will be next on the door step and they have sued people for jail breaking.
I bet his dad going to be pissed big time as he runs a tech company I'd say he could lose his job as people gener...
Even a proxy keeps a log.
Even the headers in the packets can keep a log of all the ips it hops along and overall you'll probably find the proxies packets keep the original IP in the header so the routers know where the packets are going.
to be honest it's extremely hard to hide on the net really.
Anyway, the court would always have granted it as Sony don't sue people directly for hacking and piracy for no real reason.
