I still have my og ps3. Time has not been kind to the design. It’s not what I would call a timeless design as it looks pretty cheesy by todays standards. The chrome bits look cheap, the Hollywood style action font across the top (that looks like Spider-Man font) is overkill. It doesn’t mesh well with much around it. I think the ps4 was Sony’s best design so far and had (or didn’t have) all the things that make me also appreciate the series x design. Too much crazy and it looks like a toy and ...

How is a black box ugly. You could say it’s uninspired or boring but I think it needs something more defining to be ugly imo.

oof. i strongly disagree. i still have my OG ps3. it looks really dated now to me and the silvery chrome bits look cheesy. its definitely not a "timeless" design. I don't really love the ps5 design either, and i struggle to place it in my setup without it demanding all of the attention, but i like it more than the ps3. I think the ps4 had the right idea with keeping it simple and elegant with a touch of futurism.

People will hate me for saying this, but out of...

lol no. i enjoy gt7 a lot. i'm playing on ps5, but compared to Asetto, i would describe it as "cute". and in the simcade arena, Forza Motorsport has kinda been better than Gran Turismo for years. I'm not saying the new reboot will be, i know practically nothing about it - but GT hasn't been king for a while.

In terms of pure sim and racing realism, iRacing and Asetto Corsa are kings. There are even eSports competitions dedicated to the iRacing platfor...

Omg we’re still going on about this? It came out a decade ago. In computer years it might as well be 100.

funny. when i post a thing about ps plus, it gets pulled for "beating a dead horse" yet when something is posted more favorably, well what do you know... approved. this site is so biased.

uhhh.... theres pop in. i'm 40 hours in at this point and i see it. its pretty hard to miss. its not like its ruining the game or the visuals overall but to say its not there is just not true. you even see it in the opening cinematics, and in the arcs of old remnant machines when you first enter the "forbidden west", but considering open world game forza horizon 5 has ZERO pop in with the world coming at you at 100 mph on series x, i feel a similar solution/capability should be ...

Still meh.

Those frame rates aren’t good either.

as a ps5 owner im glad this simplifies the services and bundles everything up so its easier (like xbox). but also as a series x owner, its disappointing that sony's new service misses the single biggest thing that makes gamepass amazing: day one drops on new releases. sony could have 2000 games in its library, but the thing that matters most in my opinion is getting new games. they are usually the most expensive and it gives you less risk to try things you are unsure about - or just simpl...

That’s what I’m hoping for. It’s a beautiful game but the amount of pop in I experience detracts from it and honestly I’m a bit surprised by it. Hoping it gets addressed (I haven’t tried this patch as of now). I’m playing on the ps5 version btw and have experimented in both “prioritize framerate” and “prioritize resolution” but it’s the same on both.

There’s a lot of pop in. I’m playing it on ps5. Anything from geometry (3d) level of detail pop in) to shadows, to texture level of detail. Sometimes even shallow water draws in late. It’s a good game, don’t get me wrong, but the pop in can detract from the beautiful visuals at times.

What games don’t have some form of controversy these days…..

Humanity is getting too sensitive, and entitled.

Hmmm. Gamepass still seems better for the simple fact you can get day one titles downloaded and installed. These aren’t only first party titles but a lot of 3rd party as well - and this is before you realize that all the Bethesda studios and EA are also included. This doesn’t really feel like a gamepass competitor, it feels more like they literally just smashed 2 services together and added some old games.

Pretty surprised, but not necessarily in a good way.

i love how people disagree to literally describing what exactly foveated rendering does and how its a similar technique to variable rate shading. They both follow the same general principle of rendering less information for things that don't need as much information. it increases performance because you are using fewer resources overall thanks to not having to run full resolution or textures or whatever for every single object in the scene within that LOD. Its literally another LOD contro...

of course it does. less information means better performance. this is very similar to Xbox's variable rate shading technique; things that don't need the details don't have that detail rendered.

i love how they are reviewing it as if we haven't seen it realeased in the wild for the last year at least

yet they did. don't confuse financial/investment pressure with technical ability. CDPR overall have a pretty good track record and unfortunately fell victim to good ol' capitalism.

from what i've seen from unreal 5, it feels like the best choice for most open world games. hands down the best looking engine out there right now.
