I think the launch of xbox one was prob a good kick in the pants to motivate anyone to do better. that was a disaster and I like xbox.
lol.... "looks through ps5 comments of ppl celebrating a ratchet and clank 40fps frame cap as a marvel of studio development"
is "acquire" another term for "grow organically"? Sony has been growing several studios "organically" this week.
this is exactly what we want... said no one ever.
Sony "grows its talent organically".... by buying studios with money. just like ms.
fanboysim at its finest. completely missing the bigger picture to defend a huge corporation taking everybody's money.
its amazing to me how many ppl are so impressed by a patch that takes a 60 fps game and pops a 40 fps frame cap on it when 120hz is detected. Cool that its there because judder is annoying and looks bad, but lets slow our rolls on the accolades here. this probably took a couple of days to do and most of those days were probably just testing a patch that took 1 guy a few hours to sort out. Get a grip guys, lol
very sad. this stuff is always hard.
this is not hard to do. its just adjusting the fps to be evenly divided by the refresh so don't double or skip frames vs refresh rate - most likely done by a frame cap. this literally probably took them a few days. we have to do this stuff kind of stuff where I work pretty often for media to run on various types of screens properly. .
just performance caps to make the fps evenly divide by the refresh to reduce judder. lets not get too carried away here. lots of games have had similar/related patches on the gen 9 consoles to accommodate 120hz.
I'd be impressed if they got the game itself to run at 120fps.
exactly. the multiplayer games help pay for the occasional single payer game that typically makes less money than the multiplayer games.
its not that ppl don't learn, its that 1st party exclusives sell less and cost just as much to make first of all. They are inherently a much bigger risk - especially with the production costs of making a AAA game. An exclusive by its definition is designed to exclude certain ppl and give a smaller number of ppl something that makes them happy they spent money on. The majority of single player games are usually exclusives.
secondly, single player games have exponentially...
Just like how Insomniac made a great exclusive for Xbox One and now Sony owns them and will get any follow up on that sequel. I think exclusives are anti consumer honestly. I get how capitalism works and how ppl have to get the edge on each other but ultimately the consumer loses by having less choice, less freedom etc. If a company grows its studios, sure, they get the fruits of those labors but at some point it becomes bad for most gamers.
In MS' defense, they were la...
looks pretty cool. eager to get my hands on this one. lots of good stuff coming out soon all around.
I play flight sim on PC currently but can't wait to try it on the Series X. I don't have the most top end PC so I'm curious to see the performance differences. I feel the X version will be superior in my current situation. Wondering if my flight controlers will work (HOTAS).
Ascent looks good too. Initially I wasn't that into it, but the more I see the more I want to play it. I even have it and flight sim pre-installed already via Game Pass.
they just opened a new studio right across the street from the studio I work at here in Los Angeles
agreed. back then they were maximizing the hardware and the designs were new. I still appreciate them for nostalgic value but the entertainment value is a bit different now that we've experienced exponentially more powerful hardware that allows vastly more complex game design.
up up down down left right left right b a start.
I agree. in fact it would make me more comfortable while learning maps etc.
rad. that takes me back. such a great series.
