all i know is that i hope EA learned a lesson from this. I will always give credit where its due - if they made the effort to fix everything broken and listened to feedback from players to correct mistakes made and fix the value proposition then i will not hold it against them (same with cyberpunk). but if they don't or repeat the same mistakes, i eventually just stop buying the products. i don't need to get emotional or jaded or threatening. i just take my money elsewhere.

Hmm I dunno. I play it on ps5, but on pc there are a lot of racing games and a lot of high caliber racing sims on top of it - like real ones without all of the game-ification that gran turismo does. Things like iRacing etc. and you can also get more causal ones like forza horizon too… feels like a pretty crowded space for it…. Who knows though. I love these games but bro, you can’t tell me they don’t all feel similar. I own on my ps5 and have played for the last year on ps5: uncharted 4 next gen update, forbidden west, miles morales, both god of wars and the re-release of TLOU and yes, they all feel very similar and all are fresh in my memory. They’re great games and I love them but they are in fact starting to feel formulaic.
I love the game but the author isn’t wrong. I even had a feeling that the whole climbing and jumping around on some scaffolding during the side mission of shutting down rigs (favor for Asgard side quest) and thinking how remarkably close it felt to playing uncharted or Horizon zero dawn. There are even little markings on all these games to show you where you can climb.

60 fps is cool, but overall underwhelming imo. Needs more than just resolution bumps. I know it says “raytracing features” too but that’s prob not in the 60 fps mode and I have realized it’s usually pretty stripped down and limited to shadows in most of these games on console.

The reality is that fist party exclusives are expensive to make and dont sell as much due to the limited audience exposure that is the very nature of the exclusive - they are exclusive to a specific group of people. They might sell well for the platform but their overall sales are less than that of multi platform games. i've played it on my ps4 pro and my ps5 and the only thing i really notice is the ps5 is sightly sharper and the framerates run better. thats pretty much it. DF did a comparison analysis and pretty much said the same thing calling the differences "subtle" and how that was a win for ps4 users. visually they almost identical. if you want to see the differences you pretty much have to put them side by side and zoom in 2-300%.
the cringe is real
this is my single issue with the game. i had to make a lot of effort to even get a ps5. So after all of that effort and an extra $500 for the console (plus almost the cost of a game in taxes) plus $70 for the actual game, I end up with an experience that is nearly identical to the ps4 version. Yes its sharper and the framerates are faster, but thats about it.

If you compare the switch to other consoles in terms of power, it nets out around the Xbox 360 which launched 17 years ago and doesn’t have any of the functionality that the new consoles have at a system level. It was underpowered the day it was released.
