will be a day 1 launch title for gamepass for those of you that are interested and on xbox platform.
i wish i was into final fantasy... but i'm just not.
Callisto is better than a lot of reviewers are giving it credit for imo. People are just mad it’s not actually just a Dead Space clone. It’s heavily inspired by Dead Space for sure but it’s a simpler, more straight forward, more action oriented game that moves you thru the world and big set pieces in a fairly linear way. It’s almost like Call of Duty meets Dead Space. It’s not a perfect game by any means and could fine tune the balance and variety, but I’ve been playing it and having a lot of...
The series x isn’t struggling plenty of games to play and some outperform their ps5 counterparts. Yeah there haven’t been as many exclusives (yet) but over 20 studios working on games will change that - besides… exclusive games are like a fraction of the total games played by ANY gamer. And as someone who owns a series x and a ps5, my series x gets used waaaay more. I pretty much only use my ps5 for its exclusives. Let’s keep things in perspective
Now everyone downvote away...
Uhh outta a great game but not the only game recently. Modern ware fare 2 dwarfed it in sales and is also really quality for example.
The stuff the studio is talking about here s the stuff I think of when ppl say things like “making god of war a ps5 exclusive wouldn’t make it a better game” well… yeah. Actually it would. It’s a great game, but could have been even more incredible by just simply having less constraints to worry about.
Personally I’m enjoying it. I didn’t know whether to buy it or not based on the first couple reviews, but then I read some more positive reviews too that made me willing to risk it. Seems fairly polarizing to people.
Anyway - I like playing it. I don’t think it’s what a lot of people wanted it to be (a complete dead space clone - which it’s not) and maybe it’s a slight bit clunky or rough in a couple areas but it’s fun, it’s entertaining, the presentation, acting and soun...
Sounds like they shortchanged the optimization for directX based architecture. I’m sure they’ll patch it and get it sorted out. The ray tracing part probs ly has to do with the fact that ps5 and series x use different methods and they probably focused on ps5 first.
This seems to be one of the kinder reviews so far. I was really looking forward to this game and was even going to preorder it until I remembered I did that for the new saints row and was deeply disappointed in how that turned out. I opted to wait on this one. Seems maybe that was the right decision…. But I’m still curious.
Fuuuuuuuuu…………
Was so looking forward to this launch….
Bullshit. Cancel culture is f***ked up. If the studio is willing to put in the work to correct wrongs and take gamers feedback to right those wrongs then they should have a second chance.
Ask yourself if you’ve ever made bad decisions in life and didn’t want a chance to correct them. Not one person on this earth can say they’ve never experienced that. To me it’s what you do with that second chance. If you screw THAT up then clearly you do t get it.
more power to them, but theres no way i personally would buy a switch in the year 2022-23. at this point my iPad Pro produces better performance and actually has more games (it can even do 120hz). i think i've had enough mario to last a lifetime at this point and yea i do actually own a switch - i just never use it anymore.
they used real ray tracing, its just a proprietary system and not all the reflections were raytraced. I think most of the raytraced reflections were for Clank and occasionally objects that were featured in a scene. the rest were screen space reflections and or cube maps. This is usually the case with most games using raytraced reflections.
best use of ray tracing on consoles i'd say. ray traced shadows a second. its funny. when i play the "next gen" gta V update, you can clearly see that the game is old no matter what, but the ray traced shadows look amazing... like too good for the rest of the game.
it may surprise some of you to know this but this is actually pretty common in the industry. lots of tasks, projects, portions etc are farmed out to other studios, agencies, etc. this is pretty normal. happens in movies and tv shows too. I myself even worked on Infamous: Second Son while working at a post production studio unrelated to Sony or Suckerpunch.
It wouldn’t be a different game but it would be a technically more advanced game. Graphics could have been pushed further, animations and physics could have been pushed further etc. it would minimize things like the pop in npc characters change animation loops etc. they could have also eliminated things like walking between doors on the big tree in between realms for a period of time. Those whole moments were designed to hide the new realm loading into memory. There are quite a few things th...
the last R+C (rift apart) was definitely way better than I wanted to give it credit for before playing. still one of the best, most impressive ps5 games imo.
I check out if a game is too long - especially when its a big grind or errand fest. at some point I just get bored. I am also admittedly fairly ADD tho with a dose of impatience so my finishing a game is dependent on me getting to the end before my mind starts to drift to the next thing... but... I also feel like a lot of content on longer games is just filler. meaningless, unfulfilling side quests, chores, errands... if you're going to give side quests make them have more value and impac...
definitely just pushing gamepass at this point.
this is just a setting in the game. No magic or post production wizardry has taken place here.
also - i played the demo of this game. its fine. I'm probably a bit too old personally for the portrayals of the street racer characters and how they are portrayed. Heres my issue with the game as an art director in real life putting my art director hat on. The cars and environments are rendered very realistically. they look as close to real life as the engine and the console ...
