Diggin it so far. I get the impression it’s a slow burn so I’m treating it like a slow burn. A bit different than I expected.

Not quite as No Mans Sky as I thought it would be, but that’s not at all bad thing. It’s just different. Traveling to worlds and the worlds themselves aren’t like on No Mans Sky - they’re more like maps you travel to… extensions of the main map… or rather the main map is spread across planets.

The amount of detail is almost overw...

I’d imagine someone who spends 200 on a controller plays a lot of games… enough to seek out a 200 controller. This is kinda like saying people who buy cars spend more time driving cars.

Nobody wants to accept that game production costs have gone up while game prices have remained relatively flat or gotten cheaper over the decades (when adjusted for inflation). In the 80s and early 90s, some games cost the equivalent of $100+ in todays money.

Despite the imagery of millionaire ceos from Activision or Riot etc, the margins on video games are actually pretty thin and there’s a big risk now due to the cost. That’s why we see more sequels and reboots than new I...

Hardest eye roll here. You guys are hardly martyrs and spare me the theater. It’s no secret that the game is locked down. It’s also no secret the UK hasn’t been friendly to MS… including publications. It’s a free world, and I hardly think your readers are going to just throw their reputations of you in the toilet bc of a situation that was out of your control. You’re not out there saving lives. This is so cringe.

A) they are locked down on all copies - even punishing ppl highlighting positive aspects by revoking their early access

B) they aren’t withholding review copies from Europe; they are withholding copies to eurogamer, psr and maybe a handful of others. Considering they gave a copy to DF who is hosted by Eurogamer and said explicitly that no other part of Eurogamer gets a copy says more that there is a violation of some sort or that there are qualifications that aren’t met mo...

You shouldn’t. It’s hyperbole. Anyone who takes it literally isn’t using common sense. Like this author. If it literally took hundreds of hours to get a game going, that game would be an absolute failure commercially and even the people making the game would know that - as they are career game designers. I think he was just trying to express how the game keeps building and building and is huge.

I think that’s what you call hyperbole…

Obv no one is going to play the game for hundreds of hours to literally just get started. That would be horrible. I think what he is saying is that after spending hundreds of hours you are still going, leveled up, able to do just about anything at that point - which in most games is the funnest part. He is just simply saying the game is huge.

I’m all for a new tomb raider and even a new call of duty, but am I the only one that thinks it’s kinda dumb to have tomb raider IN call of duty?

well.... sure.

but when I wanted to play Ratchet and Clank and Returnal, I just bought a ps5. Now I have an X and a ps5 and there's a grip of good stuff coming out on both so why compromise? if you love gaming you love gaming so how is buying more gaming gear not just buying into your hobby.... I've seen the investments people put into gaming and most people could swing a second machine... and if you could buy a ps5, you can buy a series x or a pc... even if you ha...

Does that say something good for the game or something bad about the progress of graphics over 20 years?

Yet it sits comfortably in the 80s on metacritic and is considered a classic (as well as the sequel being my and a lot of other ppls most anticipated game right now).

I’m glad there’s stuff coming that isn’t superhero games for once.

This and starfield are my two biggest hype games right now.

Doesn’t even matter cuz they’d have to be within Wi-Fi range and same network of their ps5. This thing is dumb. A regular tablet can literally work better and more remotely to play ps5 games.

Lmao. I bet anyone money this thing is a flop. The only people rooting for it are the Sony diehards. This thing has pstv written all over it

Uhhh there’s a thing called a tablet. And they make stands for them. And they have Bluetooth and you can use a ds5 controller. And they have screens up to 13” that can even be oled for higher quality and 5g so you can play outside of your house or away from home and lots of us already have that without spending another 200… but go on about being right even tho you didn’t mention that huge mobile segment…
