Good article. I watched the extended Hitman playthrough at EGX 2015, and I'm cautiously optimistic. I do wonder if the series' magic has gone, though; Io-Interactive seem to be advocating that big is better, with larger crowd-sizes and more ways to kill targets in an open-world environment, but I worry about a lack of structure.
Sounds like a really thought-provoking game that would have benefitted from less punishing gameplay to allow the player to be fully immersed in the narrative. Will definitely check it out though!
Was lucky enough to play this demo at EGX too! Was blown away by the beautiful environments, and some of the tough puzzle-solving you mentioned was a welcome breath of fresh air. Really looking forward to Rise of the Tomb Raider now.
Definitely second Tomb Raider - what a way to reinvigorate a flagging series!
Also was a massive fan of The New Order - everything a FPS should be in my opinion. Forget that online multiplayer-only drivel.
You know what, maybe he's right? Maybe a follow-up MGS game will actually be a solid title in its own right. But it'll always be compared to Kojima's masterpieces, and it'll always come out of the scrap worst off.
You've burnt too many bridges, Konami. We will never forget....
"Oooh, look! A new Assassin's Creed! Let's pre-order it!" Sorry, I digress.
Not holding back with a whopping 6 new titles are they? Good on them - that's a proper announcement.
Played some great local multiplayer games like this at EGX, but my main concern is still how often you're going to have so many controllers and mates gathered in one room? I can't imagine the single player staying fresh for long.
It's always disappointing when anew eagerly anticipated game is delayed, but at then end of that disappointment pales in comparison to what we'd all experience if the ending was a dud.
It was overly-generous in my opinion. My 2/10 review is in the pipeline, because I haven't yet played MGSV and I haven't felt compelled to buy it yet, therefore it must be dross. Are we on the same kind of wavelength here Jonny?
That's not the only reason, or even one of the main ones, but I get your drift. Mind you, Skyward Sword had some of the mostly innocently touching moments in recent memory between Link and Zelda, so as long as the next entry keeps along that path it'll be fine :)
I genuinely can't stand Harry Potter but this still sounds epic. Mind you John Williams didn't do a terrible job with the score for the films...
I'd love a Batman RPG from the point of view of the villains. The Bat is awesome, don't get me wrong, but how brilliant would it be to rise up as one of The Joker's henchman to become a kingpin of crime yourself? I dare say you could ultimately even mutiny against the Clown Prince of Crime himself :)
I'll never consider Pokémon in the same way again...thanks man :P
I'd agree if the games weren't original scores, but as they are they're surely just as much game music as any Final Fantasy soundtrack, for example?
Cannot argue with 1 and 5 at all. My list would definitely have Jesper Kyd's Freedom Fighters rather than the slightly overrated (in my opinion) Assassin's Creed 2. Timesplitters 2 also has some cracking tracks from Goldeneye's composer Graeme Norgate.
I've almost exclusively just heard negativity about Destiny, but it sounds like there's a decent sense of camaraderie to be had.
Wheels make racing games with any element of realism an infinitely better experience! It's not so much an accessory in my opinion, as it fundamentally changes the way you play a game, rather than just altering it slightly.
It makes them just that little less scary. Only a little, mind, particularly in SOMA's case.
Saw this live, and you were certainly useless! Very entertaining though, keep them up. Discoman was freaky.
Indeed. Not every game has to Bloodborne your Souls into submission...
