Had a go at Solar Shifter EX and definitely found it frustrating. Very marmite game to be honest; think some would love it.
Aren't bullet hell games inherently 'messy'? This one just sounds more so.
With you all the way there! It was so satisfying leading your squad of *gasp* actually fairly intelligent resistance fighters into battle. And Jesper Kyd's soundtrack is sublime :)
Have a spare few hundred hours with Fallout 4 on the horizon? Not enough hours in the day!
Origins was an excellent RPG and like many I missed the sequel. Been interested in Inquisition for a while so will definitely pick up the GOTY Edition...After Fallout and the Witcher 3. Argh so many games!
Agreed - would gobble up a sequel. The New Order had a fantastic blend of old-school shooting, interesting storyline and fantastically-realised game world.
Wonder who the protagonist would be though...
A little too soon to have forgotten Watch Dogs, Titanfall and Evolve - most gamers have just moved on.
Would add the hugely underplayed Freedom Fighters and the best local multi player game ever: Mashed. Seriously, don't knock it until you've tried it.
This was brilliantly tense live. Looking forward to the next instalment!
All of the games available to us fans and we get hooked with repetitive nonsense like watching snails, or playing Call of Duty.
What's weird about nurturing digital plants and serenading a pixellated snail?
I do love snails. It reminds me a lot of the Zen Garden in PvZ, with plants that mysteriously excreted money every so often. You had a cool little snail in that too :) Spent far too many hours in that virtual garden...
You mean dropping the baby penguin off a floating island. Instigating the plunge to his death after you have given his mother hope by rescuing him! Damn right that's colder than a little blood money!
It's becoming easier and easier for budding developers to create games and, if they're lucky with marketing and being supported well, getting their games out to a burgeoning audience. Couple that with mainstream goliaths like Call of Duty and FIFA raking it in year in year out, and it's hard to see a collapse.
That said, mobile gaming is a threat, particularly if major publishers decide to abandon AAA games for increasingly-profitable mobile trash. As for distrust...
It's not real - I refuse to believe it! You can't make me!
Very funny article! A very topical take on Tropico :)
Very entertaining - not convinced you guys will last that long though!
It's concerning that more and more we're seeing this very practice - content taken out of the game to be released as DLC further down the line, and then bundled in to a 'Complete Edition' later still.
I can understand the publishers wanting to make the most of the game, but so cynically holding back content as DLC before the game has even launched? No thanks - not for me.
Going to crack out the N64 especially ;) Running over hookers in GTA is one thing, but letting baby penguin plunge to his doom? Man, that's cold.
I didn't know about the baby penguin one! That's....unspeakable!
I don't think it'll ever be compatible with every genre of game; mobile is a larger threat to "traditional" gaming than VR in my opinion.
Also, I'd suggest it's no more antisocial than playing an RPG by yourself, or arguably even playing online multiplayer against screaming kids who you don't know. Local multiplayer is trying to make a resurgence through indie devs, but it's an uphill struggle.
