Here's a crazy thought: the first Xbox sold around 25 million units in its lifetime. So with over 8 million units sold last quarter, the Xbox 360 sold nearly a third of its predecessor's total lifetime sales in just three months' time. It's astonishing how far Microsoft has come in the video game business this gen. They will have tripled their market share by the time the next Xbox is on the horizon.

GTA IV is my favorite game of this generation as well, along with RDR. It is great to see it in this list. It is absolutely deserving of its place as the highest rated game of this console gen.

The 360 was the only console (handhelds not included) to even break 1 million this month, and boy did it break 1 million! Although we don't have the exact Wii or PS3 numbers yet, we know this because it has been reported that the DS and 3DS are the only platforms to see an increase over November, and Wii and PS3 were both under 1 million in November.
Why are they hiding the NPD sales numbers again? What are they afraid of? They just go right to their worldwide shipment numbers. This is hardly responding to the NPD.
It should be clarified that these are US numbers and not worldwide numbers.
I can't wait for this year's lineup of games! 2011 was the busiest year yet for my 360. I still have several games from last year that I want to try out. And I hope GTA V is released this year. That would make it the best year yet.

-Ninja Gaiden II is indeed a 360 exclusive. The PS3 release was titled "Ninja Gaiden Sigma II" and that is listed under PS3 exclusives

It's an irrefutable fact that more titles release on the Xbox 360 than the PS3 every single year - be they exclusive, multiplatform, Kinect, Arcade, indie... the 360 simply has a larger lineup of games to offer any potential buyer. And after the PS3 winning 2009 and 2010, the 360 went on to be the best-selling console worldwide in 2011, despite selling in less parts...
