What does the original PlayStation have to do with "360 fanboys"? I'm sure a lot of current-day 360 fanboys gamed on the PlayStation, even the PS2. It was the original PlayStation, which deserves this recognition, that people voted for, not the PS3 (obviously). How can you possibly turn this into another 360 vs. PS3 console war?
From the article: "Meanwhile, Xbox LIVE was also voted as the 20th most essential invention by readers of the site."
Nice!
LMFAO! This is exactly why I stopped reading my PMs on this site. I haven't checked rhem in months. A lot of messages from butthurt fanboys in major damage control mode. One guy seemed to be stalking me responding to every post I made by PM. I once mentioned Forza in a Forza article and I received a PM comparing GT5 and Forza sales. Later, I got a message from the same guy comparing Gears and Uncharted, this time not by sales, but by Metascore. How convenient!
As for VGCh...
I'm most looking forward to Dishonored, the next Gears of War, Assassin's Creed III, Halo 4, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, and Forza Horizon.
Actually, there was a 3-year gap between the last two Gears of War titles. But you're right about people being desperate to bash Microsoft in any way possible here on N4G. One day they have no games (LOL), the next day they have so many games that claims of franchise milking come up.
Well, I am excited as can be for the next entry in the Gears series. Gears of War 3 has the best multiplayer I have ever experienced. There is just no other third person shooter that provides...
Six and a half years after release, the original Xbox had already been dead for a while with total sales around 24 million. Six years into the Xbox 360's lifecycle, it is at 67 million units and coming off of its highest sales year yet in 2011. Now that is a mighty accomplishment.
The GameCube was also dead six years in with only 22 million units sold. And now we have the Wii approching 100 million units sold. It may have sold most of that in its first few years with much...
In your mind, Microsoft might have "no chance", but in the reality outside of N4G they have just as much chance as Nintendo or Sony to "win" E3 (whatever that means).
VGChartz still has the Xbox 360 sales almost half a million under what Microsoft reported selling in their last fiscal report through March 31, 2012. They have got to have the 360 undertracked by at least a million units at this point. Pathetic!
Well, "most years" does not include last year. The Xbox 360 was the best-selling console worldwide in 2011, after the PS3 was ahead in 2009 and 2010. So what makes you think Sony will sell more this year? The PS3 was even farther ahead of the 360 at this same point last year, but still ended up in 2nd place after the holiday season.
I enjoyed hearing two pedestrians (both voiced by Nolan North) having a conversation in Mafia II.

Freaky...
Official numbers from Microsoft for the 360 are 67.2 million units through Mar. 31, 2012:

Official numbers from Sony for the PS3 are 63.9 million units through Mar. 31, 2012:

Yep, the double standards here are MINDBLOWING. Just imagine if that had been Microsoft's patent for in-game advertisements. We would LITERALLY never hear the end of it. Microsoft's ruining gaming!!!!
Now of course, people are showing outrage toward Sony everywhere outside of N4G, but this site seems to be like a bubble where everything is the opposite of reality. Not the news stories, but the comments sections.
How on Earth do the ads on the dashboard negatively affect me?! You can completely ignore them with ease. It's not like an ad on YouTube that plays before your video and makes you wait. I never even look at the Xbox LIVE ads and could not tell you any brands that are advertising even though I see the dashboard every day.
Now we get to hear people who have never used Xbox LIVE once in their life complain about how AWFUL the ads are. Oh, how will we go on living?
Hm... Then why is Microsoft's conference broadcasted to millions more people on Spike TV and treated like a special television event, even airing live on MTV's Times Square billboard last year? They pretty much fight over the right to air Microsoft's conference while Nintendo and Sony get a much smaller viewing airing only on G4.
Forza and Fable sell very big numbers as well. Don't count them out!
Well, my PS3 is collecting dust because I play all multiplatform titles on my 360, but I sure as hell am not going to sell it, because then how would I play The Last of Us or God of War: Ascension when they finally release?
You are literally blinded by bias if you think that is Microsoft's only contribution to the gaming industry. But this article is about Sony and Nintendo because they have been around in the gaming industry much longer.
There is nothing Microsoft could do to win in the eyes of your typical Microsoft hater. They could have the most amazing conference in the history of E3, but if you go in determined to hate their conference, you'll still hate it.
Their conference is undoubtedly the most important one though, with the most viewers due to it airing live on Spike TV. People basically fight over the rights to air Microsoft's conference, while no one really seems to care about the others. ...
Dance Central is probably as close as we can get to that.
The FFXIII reveal at Microsoft's conference without a doubt has to top the list. The internet pretty much shut down that day. Total shock and awe. It would be nice to have a surprise like that again, but in recent years most things seem to be leaked before the show.
