Certainly not in sales, but we have yet to see how it will match up in quality. I have high hopes for 343 Industries, though.
Some of my biggest disappointments this gen include:
-Resident Evil 5
-Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I
-Gran Turismo 5
-Dead Island
-Saints Row: The Third
-Crackdown 2
-Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
-MAG
This must be the highest honor for Neversoft. ;)
It's nice to know the series is not ending any time soon. It's really the only exclusive franchise that can come close to competing with Call of Duty in popularity.
"One of the only" implies that they had more in the past, when in reality, they currently have more than ever. Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, and now Kinect.
Having the most powerful console does not win you the console war. PS2 was the weakest of the three consoles last gen and was in first place by miles. PS3 is the strongest console this gen (albeit by a much smaller margin) and is dead last in sales, despite starting with the tremendous advantage of the PlayStation brand name and the loyalty that comes with it. It almost seems like having the most powerful console is a curse.
VGChartz still has their total Xbox 360 sales 200,000 units under the official numbers from Microsoft through March 31, 2012 (67.2 million). And these numbers are supposed to be 2 months newer! By this point, they must have the 360 undertracked by AT LEAST a million units. Pretty terrible "estimates".
I enjoyed Microsoft's conference more simply because they showed me more GAMES. That's what I watch E3 coverage for; the GAMES! I don't care if they are exclusive, multiplatform, Arcade releases... I just want to see what games I will be playing on my console in the future.
Microsoft showed:
Halo 4
Tomb Raider
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Forza Horizon
Madden NFL 13
FIFA 13
Another comment section where we get to hear a bunch of people who have never used Xbox LIVE nor even owned an Xbox console complaining about the price of Xbox LIVE. Oh, joy!
Lack of games at Microsoft's conference? You have got to be kidding me... Did we even watch the same conferences? Sony showed the LEAST games from the conferences I saw, instead focusing more time on each game, while Microsoft blasted through really fast from one game to another. Halo, Gears, Splinter Cell, Fable, Forza all in the first 30 minutes, then Tomb Raider, Ascend, Matter, Lococycle, South Park, Madden, FIFA, Black Ops 2, Resident Evil 6, Dance Central 3... I don't know how t...
Isn't there an age limit to make an account on N4G?
Well said, miami. I'm glad I own both consoles and don't need to worry about missing out on any great games. My PS3 may be collecting dust while I play all my multiplatform games on the 360, but I would never sell it because I want to play The Last of Us, God of War: Ascension, Beyond: Two Souls, and whatever else comes out only on Sony's console. And if I happened to play multiplatform games on my PS3, I would still value my 360 for exclusives like Halo 4, Gears of War: Judgment,...
Forza Horizon looks breathtaking! I have a feeling Turn 10 will soon have on their hands not only the highest rated sim racer of this gen, but also the highest rated action/arcade racer.
Among the big three, Microsoft won for me simply because they showed me the most games I am interested in: Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Tomb Raider, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Gears of War: Judgment, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and Resident Evil 6.
Sony came second for me. I enjoyed seeing Assassin's Creed III, The Last of Us, God of War: Ascension, and Beyond.
And Nintendo completely disappointed me. I was expecting to see something groundbreaking, and I wa...
My favorite part of the Microsoft conference was the South Park game reveal, complete with Trey and Matt on stage. My least favorite part was Usher. I just walked away from the screen at that point.
My favorite part of Sony's conference was the breathtaking ship combat in Assassin's Creed III. My least favorite part was the downright embarrassing Wonderbook presentation. How could it drag on for so long and not even work properly?
My favorite part of ...
Microsoft showed Halo 4, Gears of War: Judgment, Resident Evil 6, Fable: The Journey, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Tomb Raider, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Matter, Ascend: New Gods, Lococycle, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Madden NFL 13, FIFA 13, and Forza Horizon, and still you say only 10% of their conference was gaming? How long did the conference last then, ten hours? They showed barely any Kinect compared to the last two years and yet you still complain about it. I've never seen someo...
I enjoyed Microsoft's conference the most this year simply because they showed more GAMES. I enjoyed seeing Tomb Raider, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Halo 4, Gears of War: Judgment, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Forza Horizon, Resident Evil 6, and the lot. Some of the new exclusives like Matter, Ascend, and Lococycle looked interesting, but they were mostly just teases. The Nike crap was boring as hell though, and I just walked away at the Usher part.
Sony started off stro...
It looks like the 360 controller, but will it feel like the 360 controller in your hands? If it does, it could be the perfect controller.
Microsoft's official 360 sales through March 31, 2012: 67.2M
VGChartz's "estimated" 360 sales through May 26, 2012: 66.9M
So, according to VGChartz, the 360 has sold negative 300,000 units in the last two months. That must be a record!
I prefer Gears of War for the nasty headshots. Oh, that satisfying pop!
