Not only that, the 360 had an extra year on the market, and a ton of duplicate sales due to RROD. Simply totaling up the number of sales isn't a fair comparison anymore than saying the original xbox being an utter failure due to low sales is fair.

Most powerful isn't debatable, but "best" sure is.

Dude literally tried to say the 360 was more powerful than the PS3 then had to switch to 360 had better versions of games when called out on it. But I loved the reporter's follow up telling him that just underscores his original point of the most powerful among the consoles historically doesn't account for much. Penello of course ignores this.
he also says things like the 1X is for people that want the best versions of games available. Doesn't jive since you can'...

@newman I'd assume it's because of the context. "Should you buy two scoops of ice cream even though your cup is designed to only hold one? This ice cream shop owner says yes" with the retort being that the consumers will decide for themselves, and the response is "Vanilla is the best selling ice cream! FACT."
It is a factual statement, yes, but irrelevant to the discussion being had. Comes off more as chest thumping than adding to said discussion.

Sounds like a bit of stretching. 1,4 and 5 all basically boil down to resolution bumps. 2 and 3 you yourself can be lumped together, and I'd lump 7 in there as well. That and I don't really buy the no fps dips due to a video I saw of gears 4 Don't get me wrong, valid points, but aside from prettier pictures, all I'm seeing is faster load times and the promise of free sync.

That's nice and all, but just not for me. Thing is, what MS is asking of me wh...

What else is it doing?

Goldby beat me to it, but yeah, 1 million playstation users is not the same as 1 million xbox users for a game like this. playstation gamers are more likely to buy titles like these as opposed to xbox gamers. add to that the 2:1 sales gap and it wouldn't make sense unless MS writes a truly massive check, which I doubt they're willing to do after how tomb raider played out.

oxymoron

@wayne, yes, but is a few more pixels on some games worth giving up all of Sony's and Nintendo's exclusives plus $500? You're cheerleading xbox into irrelevancy, or rather, redundancy.

@ blackout. can you mention some of these other reasons to buy the 1X besides more power? Honest question as I don't see anything else that the X1S can't do.

Never heard of three of them. but that's a good thing. with services like GWG and IGC I want games I either never heard of or debated on getting but ended up passing on.

@rider well you're just reading what you want to read. I didn't say xbox fans. I was very clear it was xbox fanboys doing the cheerleading, so obviously it's not every xbox fan.
I also mentioned Sony fanboys were full of it as well. the difference is xbox fanboys are worse. That's why it's a false equivalency.

@gangsta No, you won't see that. Again, we've been down this road before. Sony fans (and xbox fans) held strong against o...

I said you won't see people rationalize MT away just because Sony was on board. This is like when you lot were screaming that DRM was here to stay because Sony was going to do it too just you watch.
And what happened then? Sony fans told Sony hell no. And Sony scrapped the idea. The xbox fanboys were cheerleading drm along while it's fans were saying hell no, but MS listened right up until preorder numbers came in. When gamers complained, we didn't just move on to ...

@xabi Yeah, but House isn't in charge anymore.

3003d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

@gangsta Those were the xbox fans speaking out against original xbox one policies. the fanboys went and started a petition to keep those policies.
Sony fans boys being fine with all that stuff is right, but you weren't talking about just fanboys. You were talking about N4G in general going easier on MT because Sony looks to be on board now.

@tester This is where things get different. When value increases, I'd rather pay more upfront than go the microtr...

And we're mostly to blame for that.
"make the next game bigger, better graphics, longer, better voice actors, heck, Hollywood actors, etc etc. What? you need a bigger budget and more staff on payroll? We don't care, don't you dare charge more than $60!"
Now we're at MT is fine as long as it's optional. which will lead to titles like shadow of war where either you cough up for MT or go through an hours long grind.

I for one am not on board. You can take that MT, GaaS crap and stick it where the sun don't shine. I said this a few months back and it seems to be coming true, but games as a service taking over is probably what will drive me out of gaming.
