It'll make any console better, despite the amount of ram, you can always use more ram. Now even more stuff can be loaded in at once, more characters running around with much better AI for each one, and much more of the level loaded in the background, making the open world streaming work much smoother. It just makes things better all around.
I really like that it reduces disk-file size by 67%. So a game like Killzone that takes up like 50GB, if 45GB of that is textures ...
That's tiled resources, and it's just Microsoft's name for their implementation of the AMD APU's Graphics Core Next "Partially Resident Textures". It's a hardware implementation of what John Carmack first created with his mega-textures for his Rage game. PS4 already announced they had it implemented in their API long before DX 11.2 was announced. So, Microsoft is still playing catch-up, they don't have their own little amazing secret weapon here.
lol
Yeah, SSHD seems the best performance to price ratio to go with. I've kind of decided on that from months ago, now just to find one that is 2TB in 2.5in size. I also have to find a damn launch edition PS4 available online at regular price also. I was suprised that the PS4 hdd is Sata II instead of III. Whatever though, just got a year of PS+ last night for $29.99. Downloaded some free PS3 games, now to just get my hands on an available PS4 for no more than $399.99.
They aren't saying anything special here, it's what happens every console gen, more and more tricks get unlocked later. So, there's nothing specifically special about Xbox One's future boosts, the same exact thing can be said for PS4. Pretty silly and pointless article actually.
Man, they're turning more and more into Microsoft. First, we will have a PS+ paywall for major online play. Then they are pushing the paid service Music Unlimited by not allowing us to play cds or transfer and/or stream our own music files to the hdd. Even with them mentioning they could end up patching it, it's still bad that they had it this way to begin with. It shows that greedy, moneygrubbing mentality where they are ready to nickle and dime you for everything you do on the conso...
Can't wait to see it in person.
Oh God, so now you have to pay to play bought games online, and you still are thrown into the land of ads, so they can make more money. Just having the ads alone should be able to pay for the server space, why throw ads on top of a subscription model, so annoying.
"In terms of investment it’s different from PS3. It is a lighter platform that REQUIRES A SMALLER INVESTMENT."
What's in all caps there is what I have a problem with in his statement....
Well, looking at it there's a few reasons 360 held back PS3. Part of it was PS3's fault, the notoriously hard to program for issue. Then, there was Microsoft's ridiculously restrictive rules to publishers/devs, that the games couldn't have anything about them that made them seem superior on another platform.
That particular restriction won't work this time around, seeing as PS4 has the popularity and preorder lead, so Microsoft would be just shooting thems...
They had me from the moment they said the gameplay is similar to bomberman and spy vs spy, and I've been paying attention to any news on this game ever since.
Just got my first smart phone 2 days ago, mostly for this.
Stupid title, ofcourse it'll see improvement, but so will the PS4. There's tons that Cerny tossed in there for it to stay fresh throughout years 3, 4 and 5 as he's stated many times over. Games taking more advantage of the full hardware specs over time is what always happens though, so dunno how this is news.
You should be able to use it while doing just about anything on your PS4.
Rival Schools, oh the good ole days. I thought it just came out again recently though that Crapcom didn't have enough money to buy a pack of bubblegum?
As long as it doesn't have Focus Attacks, I'd be fine with it. I know parries should have had more of a system to them, instead of being able to parry nonstop, there should have been a parry bar or something. When I said a spiritual successor to SF3, I didn't mean it had to be done sprite-based, even though there's tools out there now to do sprite-based 2D at little cost to the v-ram and with way higher animations and HD graphics.
I just want an SF that isn...
Just let the main SF team go indie and make a spiritual successor to SF3. If that happened, I wouldn't need Crapcom anyways. The RE creator is already working on his own on The Evil Within, bringing back survival horror. The father of Megaman is working on Mighty No. 9, so all we need is SF's A-team on their own indie team making something in the vein of SF.
King Midas of the gaming industry, everything he touches turns to gold. Crazy he was able to be fully behind the design of a console, can't wait to get the damn thing. I really hope Amazon restocks soon, I was late to the pre-order buzz, and I don't wanna pay $25 more in taxes at a local store, if I can find one that has the thing in stock.
Yeah, that annoyed me hearing that quote. It's time to get away from DX already.
If you wanna upgrade, but don't wanna spend SSD type money, just get a SSHD, the performance is better than a regular HDD, and you get a great size for nearly the same price as a regular HDD. Here's a great 1TB SSHD http://www.amazon.com/Seaga...
Stupid article, who cares how EA feels about the gay community. That isn't the metric to judge them by either, idiot author. They're still a horrible company when it comes to what business they are in.
