@VX: I never made any comparison to God of War or Halo. That was you, not me. We all like analogies, right? What you said was akin to dismissing checkers as a game game because it lacks the same depth as chess.

And there's a large population of TW fans that see Shogun as the peak... typically, these are gamers who started with Shogun. Rome was the first Total War game for a lot of people, But I digress.

My true, personal opinion? I don't want a China:...

RTS... I'm mildly interested, but not very much.

...

Relic... what was that?

Relic, as in...?!

*gasp*

It can't be?

HAS JESUS CHRIST DESCENDED DOWN FROM HEAVEN TO BRING US THE GREATEST MIRACLE IN THE HISTORY OF GAMING?

I'm mean, it can't be, right?

The Gods would never, not in ten million years, be so kind.

Could it be possible...

I'm not sure if I should agree or disagree, so... bullet points time.

-It could be done on consoles, it just wouldn't look as pretty. Luckily, Total War games tend to scale well, so even a mid-tier PC ought to be able to run it fine...

-...assuming there are no bugs. Medieval II and Empire Total War were both nearly unplayable for months after launch due to the number of bugs out there.

-Brain power? Really? Sorry, but no. Don't t...

I agree that Age of Empires was a huge mistake.

I'll add that it was a godawful game.

Honestly, what happened to the people that made Age of Empires, Age of Kings, and Age of Mythology? They used to be kings of the RTS genre.

It's a shame Ar Tonelico games rely so much on juvenile innuendo and mildly sexual imagery to sell: I can only guess at how many people dismiss these games as pure fan-service, failing to see that beyond the cleavage there's actually a pretty goddamn solid RPG series, one that's successfully managed to merge wildly different genres into a cohesive and compelling whole twice already.

Suffice it to say I'm anticipating this title quite a bit, even if the rather ...

In general, I don't really care for Heavy Metal music. Some songs I've heard are pretty good, most seem pretty bad to me. I guess that's true of most music.

Heavy Metal fans, however, strike me (universally so) as, well, the kind of people who don't really effect anything, and never really say or do anything of merit.

* Players will be allowed a pet to aid them during their long hikes in the mountains of Skyrim

Like a dog or a summon creature? Doesn't seem too interesting.

* Dungeons will feature more puzzles than before, sometimes unlocking hidden passages

I'll take anything to break o the monotony. Bethesda really doesn't seem to know how to make underground areas interesting. Here's hoping this time they get it right.

Horrible idea.

If you want a low-profile, mediocre RPG to sell well, it's all about making the consumers AWARE that your product even exists. A steady stream of DLC showing up in the PSN store is a good way to do that.

Then again, Koei isn't exactly known for making the wisest moves.

Try Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga.

Wickidly impressive game. Far better than Dragon Age was, IMHO. It'll certainly tide you over 'till Dragon Age II, but the gamer in you might be better served anticipating Witcher II, instead.

As for TW2... it's horridly mediocre. It's also the best open-world Fantasy game ever made. Granted, it's not exactly steep competition....

I refuse to click the link.
Or watch the video.
Or read anything about The Witcher 2.

I know it's gonna look beautiful. The Witcher is the best-looking RPG I've played since Shadows of Amn. It's... beyond striking. The first game came out of left-field for me and impressed the hell out of me: I'm deliberately keeping myself in the dark this time around because I'm hoping for a similar experience to find me with the sequel.

It would be nice to actually HAVE moral choices. I'm sick of the "give the puppy a kiss" or "bludgeon the kitten to death" options. Though, I suppose they're better than Dragon Age's concept of Good=Polite and Evil=Rude (and vis versa).

Off the top of my head....

-Voice actors that ACT
-Hire some decent animators
-Spend time on NPC design
-Make a main quest that's lengthy, has depth, and doesn't SUCK (a first for a Bethesda game)
-Release the game STABLE.
-No level-scaling

Well, those are the must-haves. To make it a passable game. Now that Oblivion ain't the ONLY WRPG on the market, it'll have to be more than passable to make the same ...

Dragon Age 2 has blow-jobs?

Seems like that would have made a better title, and if that's not the case, then this poorly-organized article is completely pointless.

As little respect as I have for what passes for "Journalism" in the United States these days, I have even less for gaming "journalists."

At least the people writing for the newspapers and hosting tv news shows over here at least try to put up a facade of professionalism and objectivity.

Or maybe that's worse. I don't know.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ain't gonna happen. Not a chance in hell.

Yeah, Two Worlds II isn't bad at all. Its biggest problem is the dub and clunky GUI, and who knows what the Japanese dub is like.

Of course, I'd probably like TW2 more if I hadn't bought the far-better Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga the same week. Hot damn, that's one awesome game no one ever mentions.

Here's hoping Bethesda steps up their game. A lot. When Oblivion came out, there wasn't much competition in the WRPG genre... or, rather, the High Fantasy RPG genre. These days, with stuff like Ego Draconis and The Witcher--and even Two Worlds II--they'll have to do much better this time around to make the same impact they did with Oblivion.

Can someone please explain to me how you can have a limited quantity of a digital product?

5523d ago 7 agree1 disagreeView comment

I can only imagine the review focuses solely on the PS3 or 360 version, and that said version is so buggy it's unplayable.

Because the PC version is a very well made game, and a damned sight better than anything Bethesda ever wrought. Very impressive, considering how bad the original game was.

We don't need HD remakes of Metal Gear or Ratchet, as both of those games already have current-gen iterations. FFVIII... well, it'd be nice to have a decent FF game on the PS3 before Versus XIII... but that would be a full-blown remake, and the content of this... paltry article seems to indicate more "PS2 Blu-Ray Ports" instead of actual remakes.

In which case, I would say the super-big games that need to make the jump, barring the return of BC....
