I'm neither mocking nor applauding the formula. The ideas are archetypal: how good or ill they are is dependent entirely upon their execution.
The Zelda franchise has become so conservative (others might say stagnant) in recent years that it seems beyond silly to wonder what "where next?" We know WHERE the series is going: what we don't know is HOW.
Oh, how quaint: a reactionary article to a reactionary article to a reactionary article.
Jesus ****ing Christ.
Ooh! Ooh! I know this one! A green-clad orphan with pointy ears will kill a bunch of monsters with a mystical sword while traipsing through forest, mountain, desert and water-themed dungeons in order to rescue a blonde-haired pointy-haired princess named Zelda!
Haven't we known about ALL of those titles for several weeks/months?
Sorry, no. 6/10 more like. AI is still awful (even worse it seems) and the premise is handled with a degree of incompetence I'd thought impossible. Creative Assembly managed to take a very complicated conflict and turn it into "grr, samurai must die," versus, "grr, samurai must not die."
Cripes. Personally, I find it more offensive to the actual history than the whole Julii/Scipii/Brutii nonsense in vanilla Rome.
"That's what makes Xenoblade Chronicle's gem system so exciting, because not only can you swap out these magical artifacts to help customize your characters, but you can also craft your own unique gems in the game!"
Never have I see such enthusiasm for so dull a concept.
To be perfectly fair to Bioware, they also promised that for Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age ~and~ the first Mass Effect.
They haven't really delivered even once--it's just that their failures to deliver have gotten ~worse.~
Personally, I blame gamers: we're the ones who let Bioware get away with it for so long.
It happens. My PC, my 360, my Wii, my PS3, my DSi XL, my 3DS, my PSP and my Vita have all gone weeks--even months--without me even touching 'em. Hell, I've gone years without touching my 360. Wonder if it still works.
This is what happens when you own more than one console. It's not necessarily a bad thing.
What? In AC1, Altaire could maybe pass for a monk if you were squinting. In AC2 (and even moreso in AC3) the whole "assassin" uniform sticks out like a sore thumb.
So let's tally things up...
Lots of explosions.
Written by a God of War staffer.
Third Person action/combat.
Are they trying to make the worst Trek game ever?
They make it sound like it was just one advertisement. Bioware routinely lied at every single juncture re: ME3.
That's because he's talking out of his ass. Radiant Historia is as much a "spiritual sequel" of Chrono Trigger as Ocarina of Time. The two games have zero staff in common, and little else besides utilizing a time-travel mechanic as a narrative device.
Who are either idiots of the highest caliber or EA shills working damage control.
It probably would have been more effective if they'd streamed it. A poorly-put together show is nothing. Look at the crap clogging the gaming media today. It's just that no one wants to wait an hour to DOWNLOAD a poor put-together gaming show.
How can anyone hold any discussion of novels ripe for game adaptations of ANY kind without Dune taking front and center?
The Leto is displeased.
GraveLord hit the nail on the head. I honestly didn't think anyone would be so stupid as to miss the point...
And even beyond the fact that the warning will NOT reach many gamers is the fact that it was put forth long after the update, and that it's /still/ there.
By the time it's taken down, how much money do you think EA will have made from selling free content? How much of that money do you think they'll refund?
Now I know ...
I'm stunned. I didn't think EA/Bioware could ~possibly~ make this ME3 fiasco any worse.
But, damn, charging people for free content? Jesus Christ.
Hm... too little information for me to care. By Hatsune Miku, they mean "Project Diva," right? Those were some of the best rhythym games I'd ever played. It'll be nice if they really DO make a PS3 version, but they said the same thing for Project Diva 2nd, but you could only download the PS3 version if you ALSO bought the PSP version, for a total of roughly $120 USD.
Ideally, I'd like this to be a cross-play game. There are too few of those, and it'd...
Forcing you to use a wired GCN controller is what makes it suck (for me). To get the Wiimote to work well, I have to have it >X away from the Wii, and to get a corded GCN controller to reach, it has to be <X away from the Wii.
It would have been much more sensible to just let us use those advanced controllers for GCN games.
Sexism is not a problem, period.
Sexism is an issue. It always has and always will exist in every facet of life where two (or more) genders interact.
There are problems with how both men and women are portrayed in some games: but these problems should be discussed with more specific language than lumped into the "sexism" catchall, that more often than not inflames the less mature among us (those who decry it to be the greatest issue or the least iss...
