Anyone else kind of... stunned at this Kickstarter nonsense? These people are basically saying, "Give us money for a project we may or may not work on at some future point in time."
Seems shady as hell to me.
EDIT: Sure, it'd be nice if the Kickstarting actually worked as promised... but that hasn't happened yet.
Well there is that little nagging point about them actually shipping the game with a stand, because the game can only be played a very specific way. That should warrant at least -2 points for any review score.
Increased production cost is meaningless. Yes, games are more expensive and take longer to produce... but the effect of that is fewer total (AAA) games being produced, which means greater market share, which means greater profits.
Add to that the greater ease with which games can be produced due to the now common use using the same core game engine for multiple titles, the cheaper/more common media used to actually house the games, AND the increased dominance of digital distr...
Used games sales (/RENTALS) are a positive thing for the people making the hardware. They're not going to do anything. The only people that used game sales effect are the people producing the games.
And of those producers, the only ones that seem to really, really, really HATE the used game market and seek to destroy it are...
You guessed it: EA.
America didn't come into contact with anyone until after the War of Independence. What with, you know, not existing. Not sure what that has to do with anything.
And the Dutch/Portugese relationship with Japan is more a product of the 15th and 16th century. By the 18th century, Britain, France and Spain dominated Asia. A period that has a lot of potential for really, really great Assassins Creed (or any other) games.
There's the Bakamatsu, sure, but al...
Much ado about nothing.
The PS3 really is "just hitting it's stride" now. The only conceivable reason I can see for a release of a PS4 so soon would be the competition releasing THEIR next-generation hardware so soon. Hardware-wise, the Wii-U may not be enough for Sony to worry about, but the Xbox 3? That's another matter entirely. With the Xbox effectively dead, Microsoft is sure to release an Xbox 3 in that holiday 2013 time-frame.
Given h...
Witcher 3, one would think.
I'd rather they use the money to localize more games than produce a bunch of superfluous junk.
To be perfectly fair, DLC-milking has nothing to do with NB ruining Ace Combat. It's sort of like the mud-colored icing on the shit cake.
ME1/2 scenes weren't bad. ME3's sex scenes were just awful, cringe-worthy affairs. Partly due to composition, partly due to awful animation--particularly facial animation. ulgh.
Ulgh. Didn't think anyone liked Motorstorm RC.
Too bad there's not much competition.
Except that's not the case with games. Games are an INTERACTIVE media. Do you know what that word means? INTERACTIVE. Look it up. You'll shit bricks.
I'm leaning toward that myself. The more I hear about it, the more awesome I think it will be. Sure, AC1 was a big let-down, but the three subsequent games fill me with complete faith in Ubisoft's ability to deliver.
That said, after Mass Effect, I'm more inclined to err on the side of caution.
I just can't shake this nagging doubt that with AC3 launching in October, with it set in the United States, with it's "sci-fi" sub-plot b...
Gotta love how these so-called "AAA" titles tend to nosedive. Bet the MSRP will fall to $19.99 by August.
Kinda funny where they draw the line. Personally, I think the AC games would be far better off without ~any~ fantasy elements.
Which also equates to three separate pieces of substantial Day 1 DLC for.
To be honest, the 3DS doesn't look that much better now. In general, hardware retrospectives like this should be 1.5 to 2 years after initial release.
The only thing we can really say about the Vita at this point in time that holds any real truth for the hardware's past, present and future is that it has really, really awful speaker placement.
Too bad that language barrier things keeps so many fans from lashing out at Square Enix.
This generation really hasn't seen much change. It's been very, very stagnant. I'd have to press my mind to come up with three games that truly effected the industry.
Minecraft brought indie game development into the mainstream. It didn't really change the industry so much as the community, though. Assassin's Creed broke apart the FPS-hegemony and started the reign of the so-called "parkour" style gaming (read: platformers without cartoon charac...
