Disappointed? It was presented far, far better than any of the previous Narratives in the Diablo universe, which were so sparsely told as to barely cohere at all.

Diablo III is a major step forward in terms of presentation. Quality-wise, yeah, it's not great, but it's servicable... which is exactly all anyone with half a brain expects from Blizzard.

If you want to whine about Diablo III, whine about the always-online. That's a legitimate issue. Wh...

It's unclear whether or not jc48573 is talking about the game, or its DLC. (UNCLEAR PRONOUN REFERENCE ALERT!).

His opinion would be... appropriate were he discussing the DLC specifically, and there's no real reason to think he's talking about Dragon's Dogma as a whole given that this article is solely a review of the DLC quests.

Granted, he ~might~ be making that point, but it's not clear enough to start mocking him.

lol? I cringed.

Eh, who knows. Looks to me like they're going to make this expansion take place on an island in the north. Could very easily be just as large, or larger, than Shivering Isles.

I'm more concerned with content--dungeons, environmental design, new enemies/abilities, quests, etc.

You can link abilities to mouse wheel up/down. Totally changes the feel of the game.

There are no pros. Not for the consumers, at least. It's a necessary precaution for Blizzard to have the real-money auction house.

So, basically, Blizzard is screwing over gamers so that they can use the RMAH to screw over gamers.

No, the BEST games are timeless, ageless--never obsolete. Ocarina of Time, Homeworld, Age of Empires, Freespace, Final Fantasy VII, Suikoden 2, Shadow of the Colossus... these games will never become obsolete.

Ever.

Good games make their predecessors seem obsolete, but merely being good is not enough to be a classic. Merely good games are doomed to the oblivion of forgotten memory.

E3 is a contest held every year, and every year the winners and losers are the same.

The gaming media win.
The consumers lose.

This is how it goes, yet still people insist on feeding the hype machine.

Sony consoles simply do not have an identity. Microsoft is Master Chief. Nintendo is Mario. And every Sony console is a strong and diverse line-up of quality titles from a diverse and numerous base of third-party developers.

This is Sony's strength, and not something they need to fix. Yeah, one big game may have turned things around for the 3DS, but for the Vita, it's not going to be any one game. It's going to be a whole lot of 'em. Disgaea. Gravity Crush. Fi...

@DaCajun: It's not an issue of hand-holding, it's an issue of the camera. Even something as simple as orienting the camera toward a specific target would go a long way, and eliminate the single most annoying part of the game: staring at the Cyclop's anus throughout the whole fight.

Just imagine a sequel where, say, there's a "hidden" lock-on feature (as in something that's automatic, not up to player control). The moment you hit an enemy, the cam...

I have OCD.

I've had to stop playing Xenoblade fairly early on simply because the several quest conditions (monster spawns) were simply too rare.

I never played any of the sequels. I remember liking the first game, just not enough to buy the others when they came out. I've been thinking of trying one of the DS or that new 3DS games, but feel like I'd kind of be "out of the loop." I'd like to get into 'em again (I remember really loving some parts of the first game) but the franchise isn't really accessible at the moment.

Thanks largely to Sony's removal of b/c, and S-E's refusal to...

He was kind of a douchebag. He's much, much better off dead.

Controls aren't quite as "perfectly executed" as say, Dark Souls, but they're pretty damn good nonetheless. I guess they can be hard when you first start playing, but once you know what you're doing HOT DAMN are they fluid.

My only real gripe with 'em is the lack of a lock-on feature.

Still, I've been more impressed by Dragon's Dogma than any other game this generation, period. I really--REALLY--hope it becomes a new franchis...

40? Seems like you'd really have to stretch to find that many.

I'd say...

Assassin's Creed.
Souls (Dark, Demon).

And... that's it. Others, like Mass Effect and Uncharted I'm too on the fence about, or holdovers from last generation, like Yakuza, God of War, etc.

And it also seems to me that most of the big, really impressive games this generation have been single entries, not really intended to sta...

It's an acceptable score. The biggest problems with Diablo III don't actually involve the >game< itself, they're just associated with it.

And lots of people will review high-profile games. This is how the industry works. Get used to it.

I don't know if I should be amused or worried about the number of people here who don't understand the meanings of such simple words and concepts.

This shit ain't hard, folks.

...Hasn't there already been a prequel?

Honestly, I don't see the point. If they're going to make a new GoW game, they ought to advance the timeline. I mean, there are only so many times we can hear Kratos scream "ARES!!!!" or "ZEUS!!!!" before we stop caring.

Hell, some people stopped caring back w/ GoW2.

Right, and if you shoot a gun at someone it's not the GUN killing them, it's the bullet.

Or it's not the BULLET, it's the skull getting punctured. Or blood loss. Or organ failure.

Three cheers for logical fallacy!

Gaming is an unhealthy hobby; the sooner you accept this, the better off you'll be.

Most of those are accurate... but gaming DOES, in fact, contribute to America's 'obesity epidemic.' Maybe not as much as massive corn subsidies, but still enough.

Habit-forming sedentary hobbies are not healthy, period.

This is why Nintendo has those health warnings enclosed with every game, and why the 3DS will have a little message pop up if you play for more than an hour or so suggesting that you, ya' know, stand up, maybe go outside, and...
