The hype IS justified.
I haven't found myself as immersed in a story and setting in a game since Final Fantasy X. It's amazing.
Sure, it has some flaws, but I'll be thrice damned if it's not the most enthralling JRPG I've played in 10 years.
I expected a meatier article, but I can respect something short and concise.
Personally, I'm holding on to my Gamecube to play gamecube games. Wii b/c sucks IMHO.
Of course, I've only got 2 or 3 Gamecube games to play, and they'd probably look better on an emulator.
No. Just... no.
Contemporary WRPGs? Yes. I've been asking myself, "why is magic so boring?" at every single WRPG since Icewind Dale II. The move to 3D RPGs has not been kind to magic, nor has this (frankly moronic) notion that all classes in a game should be "equal"--balance is fine, equality is downright stupid.
Entry-level spells in Shadows of Amn could fling a half-dozen glowing projectiles the size of watermelons at your enemies. T...
Honestly, I'd rather have more bugs if it meant greater focus on RPG elements. No, I don't mean stats and spells and crap, I mean quest design and writing quality.
Though, after playing Amalur, it feels kind of silly to criticize /literally any other game/ for poor quest design.
Seriously, though, imagine if Bethesda had dedicated the same amount of time and talent to quest design, dialog and narrative structure as they did to level design! Oh, the ga...
It's really not non-linear at all. If you want that, play the first Witcher game. Witcher 2 is linear and short.
It does have a "kind of" branching storyline, though.
It wasn't funny... focus less on "making jokes" and more on writing a coherent article with a solid voice. And that blurb at the end did you NO favors. I read:
"Hi all, this is Daniel Hill speaking. I’m a 22-year-old soon-to-be-graduate at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. I’ll be leaving here with majors in Print Journalism and Digital Media Arts...."
And I thought: wow, you really don't have a whole lot to show for all that. And...
From a gameplay perspective, Seven is pretty much Ys perfected.
But, yeah, you should definitely check out the other (more recent) games.
Many things go without saying, so I won't say them.
Of the others... Aging.
I want to see aging.
The most disconcerting aspect of AC2 was going through the years and decades without Ezio's model or textures changing. When Conner is a teenager, he should look like a teenager; when he's in his thirties, he should look like he's in his thirties.
Different models would be nice (like, say, he grows a beard, gets hi...
It's getting a PC release? Well, damn. Here's hoping it's Steam. And priced well enough to convince me to buy it again: I won't bother if it's $50 or more.
And I was just thinking, "now might be a good time to toss Dark Souls back in the old PS3."
Guess not. Oh well, guess I've got Xenoblade to play in the meanwhile. Now THAT'S a game that would really benefit from a PC port.
I had a hunch this article was written by a moron. Most "#" articles are.
Then I read: "3Yeah, sure, you love Manga and that’s why you played Avatar: The Legend of Aang."
What's a word for someone /lower/ than a moron?
For a moment I thought you said, "Little Big Planet and Lair," and thought I'd gone back in time to when trolls could say "PS3 has no gaems" and have a sliver of a point.
And, honestly, I can't say I'm too excited for any of 'em. "Warrior's Lair," or Ruin, doesn't look all that original--yet another hack-and-slash-totally-not-Dia blo game in a long line of similar... no-Diablo games.
But, hey, it's not...
Those people are called "bigots." Attempting to educate them is, more often than not, a waste of breath.
Inhaling can be a choice. Living can be a choice. Does that mean the corporations or state can now charge for such things?
The American judicial system is a joke. Also: this is just a state court ruling. Sony is an International corporate entity; they don't exist solely within the borders of California. Odds are this'll be (rightfully) appealed.
Very much a case of too little, too late, I imagine.
The damage, as they say, is done.
Well, you're wrong. The core concept behind Mass Effect is the notion that player choices effect the story. This is what made ME1 and ME2 such great games. ME3 ignores this entirely. It is, therefore, an objectively bad Mass Effect game.
Hence the overwhelmingly negative fan reaction.
Why are people STILL giving ME3 such high reviews? The game is out: we know it's kind of awful.
"a deeply-woven plot where decisions made in the game effect the outcome dramatically"
Nobody is falling for this crap any more.
Allow me to dissect the opening paragraph.
/////G4TV- Armored Core V is what people have come to expect of mech-combat games://///
Mech combat games are quite varied. There's no one single thing any of use inherently expect. Much like RPGs. Claiming otherwise betrays a deep ignorance of the subject matter.
/////it's fun, pretty, and provides overall smooth gameplay/////
Sound like better than a 2/5, don't it?
/////...
Same here. Looks fantastic. And then there's The Last Story coming in June. I love it when these top-tier RPGs pop out at the end of a console's lifespan. Things got crazy with the PS2, and you just know it's going to get crazy with the PS3 in 10 years time with Versus XIII.
@Relientk77: seriously? Thought I was the only one. There's just something about Zelda games: I just can't finish 'em. I guess it's because I don't want 'em to end. Jus...
Just another peasant trying to capitalize on the ME3 controversy.
Which, in all fairness, should be in the number 1 spot of any list like this given the overwhelming negative reaction provoked by the entire gaming community the world over. Strange he didn't bother listing it.
I can't really get excited over any game without a release date. I'm still waiting on ****ing Steambot Chronicles 2!
Only Vita games high on my hype list are Gravity Crush and Battle Destiny. (No Disgaea or Persona because I've already played 'em--still gonna buy 'em, though. Just like I'm gonna buy my FOURTH copy of Persona 3 tomorrow off PSN).
