They decided that they wanted to get fully simulated DR lighting.
So what they did, instead of doing just HDR like most games, they did both HDR and LDR lighting. To this it requires that the engine renders each scene twice under 2 lighting passes then uses a shader to detirmin the proper lighting. The daughter chip on the xenos is capable of handling 4xmsaa on a 720p image, but the reason that halo3 doesn't have any AA is again because of this process.
it's the ...
I'd rather have the advanced lighting system then 720p, because halo has the best lighting out of any next-gen game.
If you read any of the articles, it clearly states the xbox devision had made 169 million in revenue, down due mainly to a price cut on the console.
THEY DID NOT LOSE MONEY.
quote:
'Entertainment and Devices posted an operating loss of $130 million in the fourth quarter, it ended fiscal year 2009 with an operating income of $169 million. '
169-130 = 39 million in income, down 30% from last year.
People need to learn to read.
It looks like what bigpark studio's is doing with joyride. All it seems to be is a golf game for your avatar, most likely a community game like 1vs100 and joyride, my guess is you'll be able to buy sets of clubs and stuff through microtransactions, and they'll have like weekly tournies for free prizes.
I just don't understand why people have a problem with it. It's a golf game, everyone has a golf game.
It's funny how no one on this site complains that home is a ...
Because I've always thought that halo version of a futuristic earth was strikingly similar to the ghost in the shell version.
also studio 4c!
not in real-time.

the main advantage of raytracing is the ability to calculate multiple reflections and refractions in realtime with a non-linear slowdown, ie, the more you have the less it slows down in relation to something like rasterizaton, however raytracing just isn't as useful as people tend to think it is. We've developed a wide range of special shade...
graphicially looks better then any other action adventure game releasing this year on any console.
sony always likes to compare themselves to toystory.
it's like a home space.
nvm, I'm wrong, I totally missed the article.
but anyways, it's probably braid or another xbla game.
morgan, you're wrong.
A change in plot direction is something such as a character going from being a protaganist in a conflict to being an antagonist, or vice versa.
ie, a character finding out that the person he's been fighting happens to have characteristic that humanize him to the point the character feels guilt or disdain for his actions. Therefore ending the conflict. The story goes from one of revenge to one of humility.
A plot twist is when ...
that's right, but reach doesn't get "destroyed" like the arch and the original halo did. It gets partially glassed though while the spartans are still on the ground, and I don't want to spoil it.
The last level in the first and third halo game are all epic to the max. Nothing, nothing beats a race to last remaining pelican before the destruction of the alpha ring/the arch as the world crumbles around you and hundred upon hundred of flood try to kill you.
Or the first time you face the flood.
or when you face the prophet.
or the first time you get to see the flood actually transform a person in real-time.
or when you get the c...
People who don't know much about the haloverse will be in for a shock when they play it.
sorry...
MGS's everything is a lie plot twist isn't cliche, but the raven and flood twists are?
And morgan, what are you talking about. In halo no one expected the flood, everything up to that point made it seem as if the halo's were just a mysterious weapon that the covenant wanted to use against the humans. Then all of a sudden we find out that it's really designed to study and destory the flood, that's a major plot twist.
the last level was just so amazing because it was completely unexpected.
Sony crippled nintendo 3rd party support by developing a cheaper medium to sell games on. The n64 era required developers to pay nintendo for each cartridge sold, while sony used cheap CD's. The primary reason that sqauresoft jumped the nintendo ship was due to the fact they could use CD's.
MS is doing the same thing by providing a cheaper platform to develop on, appealing to 3rd party developers to support the console, just like sony did against the n64.
It's no...
and my point is that you're quite simply wrong.
"I didn't ignore your petrol or health-care mentions, but they have absolutely nothing to do with Google. My purpose of bringing up the other companies was to show companies that have been ranked as being of high quality and consumer-focused rather than exhibiting practices that tend to be focused at obtaining products or services in a manner that benefits them more and in a manner as to prevent competition"
Halo 3 is the only game that has fully implemented HDR and LDR lighting.
No other game has it, none, not on PC or any console.
