This badge itself is completely redundant, since every new XSX game is somehow "Optimized for XSX".

"Optimized for XSX" simply means the game was compiled to run natively on XSX, how can someone release a new game on XSX that is not "Optimized for XSX"?

It's seems just another marketing mess, that went out of control to the point of "proudly" covering 10% of the front cover, and now to the point of "proudly...

For me it seems that Microsoft Xbox division is not in the business for the tradicional console first-party AAA high-quality development anymore.

With Xbox and Xbox 360 they really tried to compete with PlayStation and tried to be in the tradicional console market. With Xbox One they lost their direction and with XSX it is also a different direction now.

Microsoft new business model for gaming is the Xbox Game Pass and so they will support their "15&...

Value is real subjective.

Buying a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate its $180/year. And we are still in the phase where Microsoft subsidize the service. Let's see how future goes.

But with that money I actually bought The Last of Us 2 + Ghost of Tsushima + 1 year PSN Plus (that offers more than $800 in value through the year, including many of the third-party that also show up on GamePass, plus some Sony exclusives).

Off course, I always give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to streams. After you see all trailers with more quality videos, near native resolution, your impressions are better or less worse. This is valid for both Xbox and Playstation streams.

So the conclusion for me is that clearly that Xbox Game Studios are decades behind PlayStation studios. And that's not a surprise, its just the consequence of Microsoft and Sony DNA on console gaming industry.

How about starting by fixing the animation of the steering wheel when driving in cockpit view?

Honestly, a studio fully dedicated to a car game that release 3 core versions on one single generation, and still have their cars steering to a maximum of 70~90 degree angle. Its awful...

A - Mark Cerny the architect of the PS5 himself working with hundreds of engineers on PS5 hardware for years:

1) Makes an official tech presentation on PS5 hardware where he confirms RDNA 2 architecture and Hardware Accelerated Ray Tracing. Gives examples at what extend he have seen developers using Ray Tracing.
2) Admits they did a not so good job before with PS4 cooling system. And so he explains a complete new approach to manage...

Well, on the current-gen consoles it is well known that the problem with the game files having their size systematically increased, was due to the adoption of the technique of strategically replicating assets through different sectors of the HDD so it reduce the mechanical read latency.

Since the SSD solves that problem one would think that next-gen game files could actually get smaller. However, it is also true that next generation game assets are expected to be bigger in ...

Off course, strictly speaking haptics feedback means touch feedback to the user, so any rumble system that reacts to user input can also be described as a simple haptics system.

However, I really hope that the haptics Sony is advocating for DualSense is not just extra rumble feedback like on Xbox controller. The way they describe DualSense seems that the haptics system will be something more advance and capable of simulating more physical sensations.

Let...

Given the ignorance of most people about what haptics feedback is all about, I think that when PS5 comes out and people start to put their hands on the DualSense, they will be truly amazed with the new level of experience.

Of course, it's up to the developers to make good use of it. But the technology is there at hardware level and software level (APIs for developers to make use of it).

To clarify, haptics feedback is not the same thing has the rumble...

There is absolutely no requirement from Sony or Microsoft to target 4k60fps.

Both PS5 and XSX offer amazing resources to work with and it will always be up to the developers to take the most of the hardware and make the best game possible.

Also, it's not easy at all to make a game look good. It requires the best talented professionals in the industry to make the best looking games in the industry.

PS: By the way GT has been always a...

More important to me is that Sony had the courage to go ahead and show us a glimpse of “Work-in-Progress” games developed for and running on PS5 systems.

GT7 is exactly that, a “work-in-progress” title already running on PS5. So I am sure the game will still improve in all departments including visuals.

So this is the real deal and can only get better from here. Not some non-gameplay propaganda running on PC rigs as a promise of “expected visuals”.

Let’s start by agreeing that PS5’s and XSX’s share the same RDNA2 architecture, but different number of CU’s, different clock speeds and different memory bandwidth.

Indeed, Teraflops are a theoretical metric of performance of the GPU that measures the number of floating-point calculations per second, whereas the Clock Speed is an exact metric of the frequency the GPU operate.

Teraflops are a theoretical metric because while it’...

Dev kits extra resources are completely locked reserved for debugging. It allows developers to attach several profile tools to the games executables, so they can debug CPU/GPU/RAM usage of their games without interfering with the game's performance on target hardware.

So your suggestion that devs would use that extra resources to develop and showcase better looking games that otherwise couldn't run on the target hardware, is simple not true.

Sometimes, I feel that Xbox division is run by a bunch of "casual gamers" that only play on Xbox in the first place.

The third party event was no accident at all. It was carefully planned with 12 Teraflops of excitement to introduce us to the first sneak peek of next-generation gameplay on the most powerful console in the world. So people have all the right to be disappointed.

It's time for Microsoft to talk less about Xbox and show more ab...

You basically say that PS5 SSD has no practical advantage because "nobody will require 5GB/Sec" and Star Citizen "simply says 60GB SSD" and developers will optimize for the slower XSX SSD. Okay!

One thing it's true. Sony went way beyond the box with the PS5 SSD innovative design so much that its blazing fast speeds are not even understandable by today's standards.

The question is why? Why trying to push an SSD so beyond curren...

In my opinion, both Microsoft and Sony are actually delivering quite impressive machines from the CPU/RAM/GPU configuration point of view. The main differences are exactly what defines Microsoft and Sony vision for what the next generation of consoles experience should be.

So since CPU/RAM/GPU architectures are quite modern and sophisticated on both machines, I can imagine that will be easier for Sony to showoff the PS5 has the next-gen console to offer a more clear/distin...
