Ironically, if this game was good, and I mean an 8 or 8.5 good, it wouldn't even be getting this kind of coverage.

I posted this yesterday morning. Look at the first comments that were posted yesterday. Not sure why N4G took tweny-nine hours to make it show up in the feed
The main issue I have with the Internet is too many users type and hit send without even using simple, rational reasoning skills. It's like brain vomit from drinking too much datahol.
Probably will follow somewhere between the Zune music player business model and the Windows Phone' model. So, either two or three generational failures.
One down.
Wow. You nailed it. It is that simple:
Microsoft focuses on services then games.
Sony and Nintendo focus on games then services.
This should be written in permanent marker on Microsoft's main brainstorming room's whiteboard.
Homerun.

Sea of Thieves is meant to be a tent-pole franchise. Tent-pole games typically either get tons of attention and financing from the production company or none at all. There is no in-between.
The reason is because a studio—in this case Microsoft Game Studios—doesn't want to tie up one of its leading development companies and money with a luke-warm performer.
I would not be at all, in any way shape or form surprised if we ...
Isn't there another game that was recently released that can be played through in around ten minutes....?
Reposted this story since the original post was pulled down for an alleged error.
Considering he stood strong in his opinion, the opinion of logic, I'd imagine he's exactly the kind of tester/artist/creative consultant a developer would want on a team.

"Sea of Thieves is far from repetitive or shallow."
Literally—not figuratively, practically, metaphorically or allegorically—but literally—nine-out-of-ten critics admit the game is repetitive. Many even go one step further and dub it shallow, as well.
At the very LEAST it is at least CLOSE to being repetitive.
The intent—like most realize—was there. Field trip to the cinema to watch The Goonies, buddy adventures, the core was there. The failure was in the execution and management of the execution. Chalk that up to the wise and perceptive supervising talent leaving years ago when they sensed this kind of thing on the horizon. Ultimately, blame Microsoft.

@rainslacker. for the win.... Scores!
I've wondered the same question: How could a gamers' standards be so low? Is it because it's all they are accustomed to? Is it due to deeply—and potentially dangerous—ingrained, questionless loyalty?
Brainwashing/marketing?
What? Is it a combination for some—all the above for others?
All we can do is appeal to their reason and resist the urge to let their anger and f...

Exactly.
Would elaborate on why, but your post nails it.
Other than the body-shaming I'm one hundred percent with you on this one, MakoD.
Intrigued....
That video could not have come at a worse time for Microsoft. It alone will probably convert hundreds of XBOXers—especially after the fantastic flip-flopping fiasco: Sea of Thieves.

Kind of starting to suspect not many gamers are hyped for this game. I was infatuated with 3, but didn't play 4. Did I miss something that the series backpeddled or are gamers starting to get burnt out on the Far Cry series?
