Actually it only came out this week, as it's an advancement on the previous one which showed a different woman leaning against a wall. I have it stored on the site for reference. Yes, the item is around one month old, BUT it has not been on N4g as it is since it was updated over 8 months ago. So it warrants as new news. The item, if you CHECK, is connected to current Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising, you did check out the second video - didn't you. As the article is based around what to ...
EA was NOT offering Take 2's shareholder the market value on their shares.
Take 2 were within their rights to turn it down, as it's worth more as a complete entity including Rockstar than the $26.00 (approx) they (EA) were offering Take 2 shareholder.
$US2 billion might sound like a lot, but add a few more $'s to each share upping it to the value it should be, and you'd be looking at a sizable difference in the buy-out figure.
I think Ubisoft might wel...
Yes and no.
SInce the new CEO has taken over (ex Bioware CEO) at EA, there has been a distinct change in attitudes on game studio acquisition, for the better. They have set up EA Partners which is allowing the various dev studios to work with EA as their primary publisher, but also allow then dev to maintain any existing contractual agreements they may have prior to EA's acquisition.
Something that other publishers would not normally allow.
Yet on the negative ...
I know, it's finally over, but watch the talk on the net about it. "Take 2 should have taken EA's offer".... "Take 2 are crazy to turn down $US2 billion for the company".
Yet earlier ppl were saying Take 2 should not accept. Strange eh.
For once EA didn't get their own way.
WHile I like the New-look EA, there are something it does that simply aren't kosher. I like how they basically discredit Take 2 in their comments, saying it has bad management and future plans, yet GTA:IV has sold a big fat 10 Million copies world wide . . .and they (Take 2) stood their ground in wanting their share holders getting a fair price, not a price lower than the market would offer.
Good on you Take 2 . . ..
...
Yeah, perhaps, but it's just not my cup of tea. It's very vibrant and Rare certainly have done a great job with it, but I think I'm fixed or focused to a few genre' of games which suit me at this time.
I had a little gaming session last night with a female friend, whacked this in and she was impressed with the looks, except it took for every to get going into the game, and seemed a tad - hmmm . . confusing. We popped in Top Spin 2 and were into playing games within no time.
My friends said it was just too slow "getting into it" . . . what have others found . . . ?
I suppose it is aimed at a different demographic . . .
It almost always does mate. We might have the highest gamers per-capita, but we have a piddling little amount of gamers in the great scheme of things, so where on the bottom of the "must send it there" list.
Bugger, and we wanted to do a review on that as well. Yes, we're a Xbox site, but it's a bloody good game, and we'll review any game we think deserves it, and this is one of those games.
Plus with Crytek now heading to consoles with these games, it'll be interesting to see how this game compares to the one they will be dropping on the 360 when that happens in '09.
The article and comment 4th Dimension has nothing to do with procedural textures and deformation, which is also readily available on the 360 through games like Forza 2, PGR3/4, Bad Comapny - heck, even Sega Rally had that with the tracks and snow . . . etc etc etc.
The article is referring to offering the player a 4th dimension in which to play. Not only interactive, but one that has unknown non-scripted reactions to various actions the player makes. All based on the actions he o...
There's two followers of games like this,
Those that love them, those that hate them.
Most that love them are usually older or more "mature" gamers while those that hate them are younger gamers who simply desire instant gratification, fighting and mayhem in all games.
So when games like this come along, that offer much more than simply fighting, shooting and mayhem, they bag them and call them rubbish.
For those that spend the time...
It's bogus, if you read the article it's aimed at squashing the romour rather than supporting it.
Besides, most games that do get banned in Germany are based on those with certain items they find offensive, such as swastika's and the like.
And as the article points out, goods have to be "available" in Germany to be banned, it's yet to be released, and yet to even go before their ratings board.
Read the article.
Mate, I think that's true of most games, and especially RPG's.
I'm right in the midlle of compiling a HUGE listing of 360 games for the site, I've been at it for 3 days and still nowhere near completed, as I no soon finish one games details, then I find at least 2 more items, screens or developers notes on a new one.
And they are not all sequels, a huge % are all fresh IP's.
Something the last gen didn't have, we had m=ore Sequels and run-ons then. Many ...
Not sure if it's me (which it probably is), but RPG's like this just don't "do it" for me I'm afraid. Much prefer the Mass Effect approach . . . The controls for me were a bit on the clumbsy side and some of the combat combos just didn't seem to gel.
Initially it took me heaps of effort to beat some enemies, even after spending what seemed like minutes on the one foe. So while I have the Original in Mint condition (still sealed), at least the XO Download let me see I'll...
You know, if youhave other sites you like, you can nominate them as well, as there is still time for some sites to be entered and even get votes. So if you do have a few blogs that you favour, then do them a favour in return, and nominate them or suggest they enter as well.
The more the merrier as they say, and it gets "Blogs" a better name amongst "certain" factions of the gaming public that seem to think the word Blog and rubbish belong in the same sentence....
Thanks guys, we are changing the theme slightly, with a wider right hand column and "slightly wider middle and less padding from the edges which will give us more room for content, adverts, comp and game announcements.
All we try to do is the best we can, given that we all volunteer and no one is paid - yet!.We might be looking at getting readers to contribute reviews later on, depending on responses and have a few dedicated game sites (ie Forza, Gears, Fable etc) in the pip...

The x720 is backward compatible, of course it is . . and it's due out either late '09 or early 2010 and will be fitted with the new Valhalla Unified GPU and CPU motherboard.
The next 360 due out either later this year or first thing next year will come with the Jasper or Opus motherboards. Reducing production costs even further. The 360 is now in a positive position financially when it comes to production costs, whereas the PS3 is still hampered by the huge $U...
The PS3 can not be dropped in price right now, or for the next 6-10 months at least. Last quarter, the ONLY section in Sony Corp to suffer a loss was- you guessed it Sony Games. And not just a little loss, their last quarter loss was $US3.3billion . . .so you wont find Sony dropping the price just to make customers happy. If they did, they might as well close the doors on the gaming section (which btw was discussed early last year) as it is simply not profitable for them atm.
Tha...

Yes it does, now add that to Codemasters Operation Flashpoint 2: and the detail they are putting into the game, see second video on the site in the article . .. and you'll start to see just how scary it could be.
The game has real-time loading, setting up weaponry, non of this grab a RPG and fire it. You have to find the right spot, set it up properly, load it, aim it, then fire it.
Then check out the detail they are putting into the persistent real-time damage model...
