Plot holes and insulting plot twists = brilliant storytelling
Nudity = mature themes (and definitely not sexism)
Quick-time events and everything being heavily scripted = innovative game play
Branching paths where most of them actually lead to the same thing and a good number of them don't actually matter = masterful game design.
I don't think the game should have won any award other than for its pretty graphics. I liked the game a bit, I had f...
The score IGN actually gave the game is a 7.5/8...which still doesn't make any sense considering 4/5 categories got an 8 and one got a 7. Shouldn't it be at least an 8...I dunno, I hate how IGN scores things.
"Always a step behind"?
I don't recall the PS2 having online being one of its selling points.
I also think that Nintendo not having their 3DS shop ready (or a lot of their online services ready at launch in order to make them better) a strong argument that Nintendo "hates the internet".
I wonder if he can tell a coherent story that isn't full of one dimensional characters and still win an award....
Its so awesome, I bought the Mario song on itunes and have been listening to it non-stop.
He is a pretty awesome guy, I think its actually kinda rare to see such a new talent helping out the way he is. Kind of refreshing after the whole Microsoft Bing thing.
For realistic fiction, there needs to be some kind of stretch, that is the suspension of disbelief. However, in a case like this the author is arguing that a lot of the backstory just doesn't make any sense which hampers the storytelling experience, mainly in how things should have gone in reaction to something else.
Plausibility is something that helps the suspension of disbelief. When dealing with games set in high fantasy or so far into the future that we don't know what is what, we are less familiar with the rules of the universe but it still follows rules, otherwise those are called plot holes. The whole "North Korea unifies the Koreas" thing was already enough to make me go "and they let this happen?"
Sure, this game is fiction, and to most of us, it wouldn...
For all those people who think this is irrelevant news:
I came here curious about how this disaster effected the gaming industry because this is the only place I could think of that would have that information. I had been on the internet looking up other news on and off again all day.
Interesting read I have to say.
It is a shame that game's commentary on objectivism and collectivism doesn't play a bigger part in the game meachanics. Its great for a back story kind of thing, but I felt like both main characters just didn't care about the political stuff going on.
I think when the author gets to his last paragraph and starts asking what do pokemon eat, that this whole thing feels either forced or a waste of time.
I feel like legendary pokemon are there to be cool and to provide some story. That's it really...I don't even really use them.
"Gamers will be able to buy all their games in a 2 Gb and 4 Gb sticks - A physical storage medium that games will be on."
3DS has 8GB cartridges! Oooooooooooh!!!!
I read this article telling myself: "I swear if Other M is mentioned I'm going to stop". I saw it and stopped because I'm angry.
1) This article take a fairly narrow approach at women's role in games, claiming that all games act like the slim selection of specific examples.
2) "It’s a pity then, that the series was handed to Team Ninja, the creators of Dead or Alive, and Samus became a pitiful shell of a woman, failing utterly in ...
While I can't say GameStop is entirely innocent, a customer is responsible for doing their homework to know what these codes are used for. So as long as GameStop didn't out right lie and said "yes, you get the free DLC with this used game," I would say it is more or at least equally the customers fault.
Everything else looks pretty great. It's kinda hard to compare to Monster Hunter since the people were build more realistically than this Zelda game is trying to be.
I can't wait for this game!
It can definitely set the mood, but can also relay more information than just that. It can be used as an indicator, it can set a specific tone, it can be used to make idle players pay attention or feel emotional just from being somewhere or doing something.
It has mechanical and aesthetic purposes.
I'm still having a blast with Goldeneye, and can't wait for Conduit 2.
This was a really fun episode to do, a lot of great comments were said.
Why? Or rather why does it deserve awards and why is one of the best games around?
