I think with the exception of the Wii titled games, Nintendo has always kept it's current appeal for gamers (even if they don't know/admit it)The problem was that 3rd party developers didn't take it seriously, and now they are (i.e. Sega, High Voltage). I fairly certain that 2009, we'll start seeing the Wii being a bigger contender as it competes in the casual and the hardcore market.
I don't get why this article is out now? Most people who have Brawl already know of this problem and it really was one of Nintendo's first online experiences. I have a ton of people on my friend list that I have blue or green connections with. Hopefully, with the next smash, they'll use servers like Mario Kart instead of direct connections.
The game looks alright...nothing I'm getting super excited about...
These people are geniuses! They proved what Bandura has already proved years ago. Violent things make children more violent (hooray!) That's why we have a rating system for movies, TV shows, and video games. If a child whose minds are malleable get their eyes on this mature-people-only stuff, then parents need to start cracking down.
That's kinda...weird...
Pretty cool twist on a WW2 shooting game...who doesn't love zombies?
A lot of times, I prefer offline except for maybe my FPS games, mainly cause I think there is less pressure, which sounds weird, but when there's someone you can't see, you can't possibly read their face to see if they are bored or frustrated, etc. So you really have the feeling that you have to play well or they aren't going to like you.
I dunno, when I buy a Zelda title, I want something new...but not so new that it's completely different. With the exception of difficulty, it's hard to change perfection, and The Legend of Zelda franchise is probably the closest to gaming perfection we can get. It has such simple controls and yet you can do so much with it and it has plenty of puzzles. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to a brand new Zelda game that doesn't at least follow a similar formula to the old Zelda games.

Epic win for Sega, especially with Madworld and two Sonic title (one being exclusive). Sega has finally gotten their head back in the game.
This game is looking better and better everyday, and now it even sounds amazing.
Well, no, I'm not angry at 95%, I'm angry at them fishing for totally unrelated fanboyish reasons for them to dock points off. I use the nunchuck combo, I don't find it unresponsive in the slightest. Case in pint, there must be something that I'm doing right and they are doing wrong. I'm also not arguing about the score for Mario Kart, but I don't find the wheel unresponsive or that difficult to use either (nunchuck is easier, but not by that much).
Lets not forget about everyth...
Guys...this is Game Informer...in case no one noticed, these guys hate everything about Nintendo and I don't think they actually play the Nintendo games they get.
Brawl got a lower score for not including Mega Man and for having clone characters like Ike and Marth.
Galaxy got a lower score for including Bowser Jr.
Personally, I think most of us here are better gamers than the guys at Game Informer, after all, they couldn't get the Wii wheel to work in...
I don't think Gears of War or Halo are good games.
I enjoy playing Wii Sports and Wii Music. I also enjoy playing Super smash bros., Half-life 2, and Bioshock.
As fun as it is to for everyone to give the list of games they like (which in the end, means nothing) I chuckle a bit. Because we can take comments like "The Wii has nothing to offer me" and it can be completely reversed. Watch: Ahem:
The Wii is the only console that actually does offe...
I don't like the fact that this is someone who expected way too much and blames Nintendo for it. I guess anyone else could say that they expected the PS3 to offer such realistic graphics and advance hardware they it could do anything only to meet with "just another game console and not the proverbial game messiah" and you could achieve the same effect as this article.
Honestly, not every game can utilize motion control. Waggle = button mashing so it's really not fair t...
It probably would have helped if the author mentioned the rabid gamers constantly demanding new games faster than anyone could make them.
Or the fact that those games will be $30 and they are GCN classics that most people would love to replay them again.
Probably a few more things that will actually make Nintendo seem smart, but I guess you can't expect too many people to think anymore.
Can you play a cello, a trumpet, and violin right now? I can only play a cello in real life, and I'm not good enough on a variety of instruments to make my own arrangements. That's where Wii Music succeeds. If you can play a piano, then go play your piano, but unless you want to get some more people over and jam out on some music (which I have done and it is fun) then do it. But there are people out there who can only play one instrument or even no instrument at all, or can't get people who a...
It's sorta funny how you accurately described the gaming world today. Most games today are aimed to be commercially big, and a lot of them are still good and "hard core". I'm not sure if there are too many games that aren't commercially successful and have small fanbases that are considered "hard core" (There are some hidden jems out there)Gears of...no, God of...no...Halo...not either...well how about Guitar...oh wait, Rock...Wii Mus...oh wait, that's selling like hotcake...
Of course, you would think a Japanese company would be more in touch with Japanese gamers right and Western developers be in more touch with western gamers.
You can't just generalize "gamers" into a nice little demographic of clones, everyone is different.
I like Bioshock, Half-Life 2, Super Smash Bros, and Wii Music while I dislike Tekken, Halo 3, and Rock Band (and still one tolerable with Guitar Hero) and I'm sure there is someone out there with a list...
Games are becoming more widespread, and social gaming is the easiest way to get people hooked onto gaming, whether it be Guitar Hero, any of the Wii series games, or Buzz.
Being complete dedicated to 10% of the market is a bad business choice, hopefully Sony can pick up the ball again and deliver some excellent social games to accompany God of War and LBP.
Listen to yourselves, most of you guys are actually giving gamers a bad name with this rather pointless flaming. Why can't a hard core gamers like this game, if you like it, are you automatically not "hard core" anymore or what? I play this game right next to Bioshock and Super Smash Bros. and it's actually pretty fun for those who like creating their own versions of music. I'll concede it's not a perfect game, (what game is?)but for all its short comings, its fun for those who woul...
No Windwaker or Phantom Hourglass? I personally think both of those beat Link to the Past...
