Ultimately, all this "article" says is that gamers and non-gamers like different things. The big difference between this year and last year is that E3 re-opened their doors to the public again, yes? Last year, it was closed, so E3 was hardly relevant to anyone but retailers...this year should be better now that gamers are back into the equation.

I think that Kotaku is just trying to stop the overwhelming wave of stupid that has come in since the NPD numbers were release. The point of a general chart like this is just showing that even though Wii sales are "declining" it's not a decline, it's still growing.

I really like the style of the Tony Hawk games...I played 3 to death on the GCN and had a whole memory card dedicated to custom characters and parks.
I know people who got into playing real instruments from GH and RB...so it's not like it's going to kill music. Besides, it's sometimes more satisfying to actually play and compose songs rather than hit buttons to make a musical track play.

Japan hardly counts as the whole world....especially when the rest of the world has gathered more software in the last 3 months than Japan has for the Wii.
There is uh...a lot of things a bit off about this article...even though I kinda agree with the overall opinion. The biggest one is claiming that Nintendo will rethink about localizing Japanese only games to the western market...but...the Wii is still kicking butt in the Western market, Fatal Frame or Tatsukano vs Capcom or not. I'm not even sure if Nintendo will go the other way and localize western games to the Japanese market, mainly cause, I think games like Madworld and House of the Dead...

While this is an interesting read...it's kinda stepping back into very early territory while ignoring more current games. Sure, in Mario games Peach is still captured but another in the case of Galaxy, a strong female character takes the role of "the mentor". The princess has also moved away from traditional female stereotypes by become a regular in the Mario sports series, along with other females.
The Zelda series has also moved away from the standard "princess ...
