I believe Gears is overhyped, but not overated, in the sense that all massive games that have huge advertising campaigns are: you expect this God-like game, and nothing can really live up to that expectation. It's like Halo 3 when it released; so many people I knew played it and felt dissapointed, simply because they'd let it build to a point in their mind where the real game could never live up to the imagined game.
Other than that, I don't think it was overate...
I'm actually speechless, and be assured that that is a first.
This was just...pointless.
By "gears of War 4", I don't think they necessarily mean a direct sequel, just another game in the Gears franchise.
Never be sorry for prefering different game, mate. I happen to love both the Elder Scrolls series and the Mass Effect games. Far too many hours spent wielding swords and exploring the galaxy :D
I absolutely think that parents playing some games with their kids would help! Again, I may be 19, but my dad will often talk to me about games, despite the fact that he only plays FPS he stil makes an effort to take an interest in my hobby, as well as my writing and other gaming related things.
I understand you're point about treating kids as little people, as long as they wear little jingly hats as well :D hehe
Anyway, that's all my bubbles gone...
Sir, I respect your opinion and I respect your right to voice that opinion, but the lack of Mass Effect in this list is enough to me want to slap your repeatedly with a large, wet fish. :D
Hehe :D
Agreed. I do think this generations seems to be growing up with little respect for their parents, which is shameful. It's hard to see how games can cause that, though. To me, it's largely because both parents get pushed out to work now and have to put their kid in afterschool clubs etc. and rarely see them for more than a few hours. It's hard to have a high opinion of your parents if you barely know them and never see them
@DarkCharizar; iamsuperman didn't comment on the quality of the PS3's launch, he merely stated that it was smart to have a brand new IP alongside the console when it came out.
I believe a new IP or two backed by established series provides the best launch platform for a new generation console.
Hard to say. At 19 years old I know that I'm more intelligent than my mother (Yeesh, that sounds awful) but my dad is extremely intelligent. I still have a very high opinion of them.
If you allow the fact that you're smarter than your parents to lower your opinion of them, then you're not as smart as you believe. Just my view, though.
All I know is I play games, write about games and think about games, but I love my parents, have a very strong relationship with them and hold them in high regard.
Guess I got lucky :D
Agreed. A new and exciting IP backed up by a few of the existing exclusives, like Gears and Forza, would give them a wide audience.
Join the club. We haz cookies :D
It really is shaping up to be a huge improvement on the original, and we've barely seen anything yet.
I'd have to disagree with the last reason. Consoles games lately rarely feel finished and get some pretty big updates :D
Makes me a sad Wolfy :(
Who knew that simple little numbers could create a generation of Achievement hunters filled with a desire hunt down and brutally claim those little bragging rights.
By god Microsoft, you created a monster! :D
Anyway, I enjoy getting some achievements, but only those that I view as fun to obtain.
I also know people who have become far too addicted to achievements. One person on my friends list wouldn't come play an online game with ...
The first thing I'm going to do is check that one of Oblivion's most overlooked features is present; the ability to take of your character's shoes and throw them on top of a house.
Why would I do this? I have no idea, I'm just easily amused :D
Exactly. Instead of parents condeming gaming, take an interest in your childs hobby and learn why the enjoy it so much. Even if you find you don't enjoy it, at least try to talk to them about it.
My dad mostly just plays FPS games, but he still tries to chat to me about games because he knows they've been my hobby for over 15 years now (I've been gaming since age 4) and he's proud that I write about games and deal with publishers and developers every day. He...
Well, in terms of sheer numbers the Xbox 360 has the least in terms of exclusives :(
Do you perhaps mean in quality? Or sales on exclusives?
I'm so mixed on whether to approve this or no. On one hand, it's really not something that I think a lot of the N4G community will be bothered about, but as someone who writes about games I want to see this presented to the public
I have absolutely no problem with a MW3 vs BF3 article providing it's well written and tries hard to fairly compare the games. Eventually an opinion must be voiced on which the writer prefers, but as long as it was well thought out I have no problem with it.
This article breaks all of my above rules for such things. I think I got dumber reading it :(
