To answer your point regarding the Battle of Earth. In the review I state that the Encyclopedia splits the Battle of Earth into two seperate fights. In the book, they're listed as The First Battle for Earth and the Second Battle of Earth, but according to Halo: ODST it was one continous fight. Again, if you refer to Halopedia you'll note that they don't split the battle, instead referring to it as one battle:
Hi mate,
I'm the author of this review, so allow me to answer your question regarding Miranda Keyes.
You'll find that the journal, as others have said, implies that Miranda is Halsey's daughter. But you will also find the information listed in the Halo Visual Guide (for which I'm away to try and write a review as well) under the entry for Cather Halsey. I qoute from the book, " Although it is not widely known, Doctor Halsey's dau...
Exactly, by that one stipulation they've ruled out Marcus Fenix.
The damning sentence states:"as long as you've performed some act of murder beyond your homeworld". Since Marcus was born on Sera and the events of the entire Gears of war series take place on Sera, he can't qualify for this list.
Do I get to call fail, now?
Oh, and the Locust are not aliens, either.
Can Marcus Fenix actually be classed as a Space Marine? He's a COG soldier and has never, as far as I'm aware, been in space. What do you guys think, is he a space marine?
A short but very interesting little piece. Despite the fact that Oblivion does remain my favorite of the Elder series, I can fully understand the point of it being a generic fantasy world. But Morrowind never felt that different with a generic fantasy realm, either, though that's mostly because I tend to read darker fantasy tales.
I'm hoping Skyrim has a mixture of both settings, but, as you say, so far it's looking mostly like Oblivion.
Ah, the Retro Lancer. My favorite weapon in the Gears series, now. In the wrong hands it's nothing but an annoyance to other players to be squashed, but learn how to use it and it becomes a weapon of terror and carnage :D
Ouch, sounds like you couldn't really get the hang of the gameplay style more than anything else. Battlefield encourages a much slower pace than Call of Duty, demanding that you oay careful attention to your surroundings to spot the enemy.
Ah well, sorry to hear that you couldn't get into it.
Actually, he hasn't. Encyclopedia may also be spelled encyclopaedia or even encyclopædia, though that is rarely used. Encyclopaedia is more commonly used in the UK, where as encyclopedia is more usually used in America. However, encyclopedia is also becoming more common in the UK thanks to the spread of American English.
I'll shut up now as I'm starting to feel like a teacher, which is scaring me.
It does feel like people are confusing the Beta with a demo, with most failing to realise that the Beta is to help iron out bugs etc. Though they amount in their is pretty surprising.
Ah well, as long as they get them all sorted by time release comes. I'll be interested to see what they change in the final game based on beta feedback, although they don't have long now to do it :D
Well, this is dissapointing. I had hopes that it would turn out to be at least a decent stab at the X-Men license.
Considering the size of Bioware I'd expect them to have used a seperate team to develope the multiplayer aspect.
I'm worried, of course, about a multiplayer aspect, but I'm willing to give them the benefeit of the doubt, though I hope they steer clear of a straight Deathmatch formula as the shooting isn't up to a high enough standard for that from what I've played.
What the hell are the point of these videos? Anybody?
And stop throwing that damn remote controller helicopter around. Sure it ain't the game, but that doesn't mean you ahve to trash the thing. Grrr.
Hey look, it's the Elder Scrolls series! Wait, that's not Elder Scrolls. That's misleading! SUE HIM!!!!!
I'm sorry I just couldn't help myself :D
Looks pretty damn fun from this screenshot. Looking forward to it.
Damn good review, with only one point that I'd have to make an issue of: you speak like you are unaware that Horde mode was already in Gears of War 2. In this review you make it sound a brand new mode, instead of a returning mode with hefty changes.
It did have a few lovely moments of color for sure, though it still felt a little washed out.
For me, and I may be looking a bit too deep into this, it's the fact that as the fate of Delta Squad and Sera gets darker and bleaker the world actually becomes brighter and more beautiful.
While this was certainly a very enjoyable read, it shouldn't be in the review section, mate, as it's not a review of the complete game ;)
It would probably go under the Blog section, along with a title that clearly states it's impressions from Eurogamer and not a review of the whole game
I actually found the Gears 3 campaign to be the best of ther bunch, mostly thanks to the return of the bowl style combat areas of the first game and color! color, by God!
Certainly explains the radical difference between the boss fights and the rest of the game.
I wonder why they outsourced them, though.
Good boys. Metacritic tend to screw up review scores, and far to much emphasis is place by publishers on getting a high Metacritic score. A sequel to Alpha Protocol was cancelled because it never got a high enough Meta score.
A title sure to attract plenty of attention. *puts on protective armor and dons some spiffy goggles*
This should be amusing :D
