Is the original PSP at the end of its cycle? Sony has done a very good job at capturing roughly 1/3 of the handheld market. However, if you look at the list of upcoming titles for the system, there is a severe lack of them in development. Compared to Nintendo, who have tons of games in the pipeline for the DS (I know, most of them will suck).
So the question isn't whether the PSP is dying, but whether Sony is ready to give us the PSP2. I would be surprised if Sony had gotten int...
I hate stealth games, so this was a "I don't care how many great scores it gets" kind of game for me.
Glad to see I'm not the only one out there.
Just shows that games are a matter of opinion, like any entertainment.
COD5 is built on the COD4 engine.
I love COD4. I can't imagine going back to WWII for yet another run through the trenches with a tommy gun. Blech.
Plus, Treyarch is no IW.
Speaking of which, can we please please please get some more COD4 maps?
Xbox 360 exclusive.
Now THAT would be a coup.
Well, I think the game world looks pretty good, and it's obvious that they're focused on immersion within the confines of the world.
But this isn't exactly the kind of video I would release to try and hype the game. We want the battles, the magic... hell, even the relationship stuff would help... and by the way, you can sell the environment while you're showing those things as well.
This just looks ... well, bland...
The lineup for 2008 may not be stronger, but it certainly is more varied. 2007 had some stellar titles (GH3, Rock Band, Halo 3, Bioshock, COD 4, Mass Effect among them).
But '08 isn't anything to sneeze at... There doesn't appear to be that great FPS like there was with H3 and COD4, but Gears 2 and Fable 2 should anchor a decent lineup that includes more family friendly titles such as Banjo and the next installment of Viva Pinata, while 3rd parties should prove successful with th...
I see that most of the comments here suggest doing something with the Halo franchise that puts it into more mainstream hands. I tend to agree that MSFT needs to do something like this. Halo is MSFT's brand recognition, and while 2 and 3 each sold 8m+ copies, they were 8m+ copies to the hardcore crowd.
Nintendo can sell 10m copies of Mario games because hardcore and mainstream alike will pick it up.
I think if they're holding off on two announcements that will help th...
Madden ships the week before Too Human. And Madden is guaranteed to sell. We'll see what impact that has on TH.
Each of these got pretty good reviews from critics, but their sales were probably considered disappointing. While each sold more than 1m units (R&C at 1.2m and HS at 1.06m), I believe they were expected to do better in what was considered a fairly bleak first year of Sony software for the PS3.
Well, define "hit." Is it an average of 80+ on metacritic? Is it 1 million+ units sold?
I think it will do well enough on the reviews from critics. The recent previews I've seen show support for the title.
I would have said that the fact that we have an action title rated T would push sales pretty well. But then I went and checked... Madden ships on 8/12, this ships on 8/19. I believe that many of the teenagers who might have been interested in this title w...
I suggest we all go on Amazon and let Mr. Mayer know what we think about his opinion.
I loved Crackdown. Easily the best open world game, IMO. GTA IV was interesting for a couple of weeks but has started to bore me. At first I was giving it some PT over COD4, but now COD4 gets all my PT.
Frankly, I think COD4 may have ruined all other games for me.
Sometimes you have to look behind the score given and see what the reviewer actually thinks of the features of the game. Camera, production value, fun-factor (gameplay), graphics, etc. That's why I like TeamXbox and IGN scores, because you can see how they feel about different parts of the game.
Take NG2 for instance. While some sites are slapping it around for the difficulty and the camera (giving it a 6/10) others are stating that the gameplay is simply above these "nuisan...
I'd like to know what success for this game actually means. Look at games like Psychonauts and Beyond Good & Evil (thank you Ubi for bringing a sequel!!)... those games got great reviews but sold for crap.
I think Dyack will take mediocre reviews if the game goes on to sell 2m+.
But even if it gets great reviews, if it sells less than 1m copies then there's unlikely to be a trilogy developed.
Personally, I've been on and off about this title. While ...
Well, I've been on the fence about buying a PS3 for a while now. First I thought the combo of Heavenly Sword, Lair (pre-release, when all the hype was high), R&C, Uncharted would help push this into must buy territory... but then HS wasn't all that, Lair bombed, and I just didn't feel like shelling out $400 to play R&C and Uncharted was worth it.
After all, all the good stuff is still coming (KZ2, LBP, etc.). So maybe the price will come down again before I feel I have t...
"Would of" is not the proper phrase. It's "would have" or "would've." This kind of thing just drives me nuts when I see it. And he used it twice! Ouch.
Anyway, enough from the English major. COD4 rocks. This is still the game of choice for my group of friends. Only a couple of them picked up RSV2 but it doesn't hold their attention much. Halo 3 was quickly swept away by COD4.
The only end in sight appears to be either Battlefield: Bad Co...
Look, the games are going to tell the tale. In the last generation, Sony had a headstart, and it had an exclusive on GTA III. Those two facts coupled with astounding support from third parties WW made the PS2 the most attractive console.
This generation, well, for reasons that still boggle my mind, the Wii is going to take a large lead... and will likely win, provided Nintendo can keep it at least modestly interesting to the casual gamer through 2012. I have one, but other than ...
Let's get this straight: the Marketplace is a global enterprise. So what, if we went from points to currency, would that entail? The dollar? Yen? Euro?
The points system is needed because it doesn't equate to a single currency. While I would appreciate seeing it in dollars (I'm from the US) I understand why it isn't, and I don't expect it to change.
I'm surprised you're getting disagrees on this one. With all the hate that the hardcore throw at Nintendo for the Wiiners out there, it's amazing that folks believe the "me too" gimmick of a motion controller for the 360 will do anything BUT flop.
I don't like the Wii for the very specific reason that it has a motion controller. I would prefer to play my games the old-fashioned way. I'm baffled that MSFT is jumping on this bandwagon. They're late to the party in this ge...
