Great... more fanboy drivel.
Oh, and I'll add a few more titles to the mix for consideration:
Dante's Inferno - 73 on metacritic -- fun & solid God of War clone.
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel - 71... if you want some Diablo on your console, this is it. Lots and lots of upgrades to create a bad-ass character.
Prey - 79... sort of a Half-Life-like trip through an alien spaceship. Maybe hasn't aged as well as it could have, but it's a good FPS, a decent story a...
Sometimes these review scores consider "value" as part of their review. I've seen several cases where someone says "this is a pretty fun game, but it's not worth $60... 7.5/10."
Whether that's fair or not is up to interpretation. I know when new games come out I determine whether I'm going to buy them for $60 or wait until they go on sale for $40 (Best Buy, Amazon, Target usually have some of the better known but less well selling titles fo...
I will say this: Microsoft might not even realize what they're sitting on here. Yes, they are going to get the hate from the GAFs and the N4G's etc etc etc. You all hate it.
They don't care. You either have a 360 already or, after 5 years, multiple Halos and Gears games on the systems, you're not going to get one.
But the casual consumer who loves the Wii? Those people will actually eat this up. They just will. I have a Wii in my house. I ne...
I really think they need to hit a $99 price point with Kinect. And I further think they need to hit $40 for the Kinect games vs. $60.
If this is $149 I think they'll still sell quite a bit this holiday season, but I suspect that demand will fall off briskly after Christmas.
So is it possible that they'll go $149 for the holidays and then announce a price cut to $119 or lower at GDC early in 2011? Maybe...
I really hope the games are...
I will point out another quote from Pachter that contributes to why Microsoft scores so well with so many people.
"My wife and kids saw that thing and said 'Wow you're getting one of those.'"
Shane Satterfield said something similar on Invisible Walls. Basically, MSFT's biggest problem with this conference was that they spent too much time on the casual games when the room was full of hardcore games journalists...

Someone should dig up all the comments people made about Nintendo coming out with the Wii. "Why would anyone want to play a game with motion controls?" Blah blah blah. Lots of hate. I mean, LOTS OF HATE.
And yet, if you don't have a Wii, you will have one. Everyone either has one, wants one or will eventually get one. It doesn't matter if the motion isn't 1:1. It doesn't. This isn't a console solely developed for traditional hardcore gamers. It...
Here's what funny: nobody knows. Remember when Nintendo renamed the Revolution the Wii and introduced the waggle? These fora lit up with "epic fail" posts.
Natal will either go the way of the Sega CD or could just be the next Wii.
Only time will tell.
I don't play the Wii that sits in my house. My kids occasionally get on there but the older they get the more dust it collects. We are definitely more 360-oriented.
I was not planning on playing Natal games; I just don't have an interest in playing a game without a controller. However, I did have an interest in how the motion controls might be used in the dashboard...
But for $150? Um, no.
RDR is awesome and has kicked off the summer perfectly. Alan Wake, for me, will hopefully be the thing that wraps up this summer as we move into fall.
In between? Crackdown 2 is a definite. Transformers and Alpha Protocol are interesting enough to keep an eye on... I hope they have demos.
But what's really missing here is the Summer of Arcade titles. I suspect that one or two of those will kick some of this stuff off this list.
And Green ...
I didn't buy my iTouch just to play games, but I find myself playing games on the iTouch instead of the DS or PSP. Should Nintendo worry? Probably not, because they can sell a bazillion of these things to kids to play Pokemon.
However, if the iTouch comes down to $99 then you'll see more kids playing them because parents will see the cost of entry being lower. Lower priced console, lower priced games.
Nintendo needs to pay attention here. I have completely abandoned my DS for my iTouch. Sure, casual games are all over the place there, but there's also some hidden gems in the mix (like Zenonia, for instance).
To put it bluntly, if the iTouch comes down in price to $100, then kids will be playing games on these instead of on their DSs. My kids already "borrow" my iTouch sometimes. They still enjoy their Pokemon, but you can see where they're headed eventually.
While I will say that I have no intention of picking up Natal to play hardcore games, I do believe that there will be solutions for the platform for which Natal will be interesting.
In other words, I want to play Halo: Reach with a controller.
But... I can see dashboard navigation and voice recognition as being useful "solutions" for Natal. I also suspect that we'll see some XBLA titles (i.e., some things that are more casual) that will recommend themselves...
I think if a reviewer hasn't finished the game, then he's putting a score on his impressions. A review, to me, is a review of the entire game, not just part of it.
There have been plenty of games that have either been saved or doomed by their endings.
That's a Reach, dude.
Get it?
:-)
Look, MW2 is not as good as BFBC2. It's not as good as COD4. However, there was such a hype train on the thing that everyone and his brother (mine included) picked the damn thing up and are playing it online.
That's fine. You all stay over there and play your commando-leaping, glitch-infested, Stimulus Package overpriced pile of disappointment.
I'll be over here playing the spiritual successor to COD4. With a smaller set of people, thankfully.
I actually believe the opposite. Since I picked up an iTouch I simply haven't played my PSP at all. In fact, my son has been borrowing it when his own broke.
I suspect that what you'll see in PSP2 is some sort of touch-screen, slightly bigger than an iTouch but smaller than an iPad, and it's possible that the dual sticks will be on-screen similar to the iTouch. It actually does work quite well.
Actually, this about sums up my feelings on the game after playing the demo. This went from a day 1 must buy to a not going to play it ever.
My sentiment exactly.
What a ridiculous article. Maybe this guy doesn't have $150 to shell out, but when you think about Christmas being around the corner, these things are going to do really well this year.
I know I've already pre-ordered it, because my kids and my wife saw the E3 videos and immediately went bonkers.
Then my brother's wife asked me what this "new Xbox 360 thing" is all about, and I showed her and my bro and their kids, and voila, they're...
